Voice Chat hits the DS

The next Wifi-enabled game for the Nintendo DS will be Metroid Prime Hunters, which comes out March 20. The game will be the first Wifi Ds game to use voicechat via the DS' built in microphone.

Don't get all worked up though, Nintendo is taking baby steps in its first online endeavor. Players will only be able to communicate with other players who are on their Friends List. Naturally this means that there will be no in-game voice chat - only before and after the match starts. This could be because of lag issues considering the DS isn't the most powerful of systems (but take a look at some of these trailers, spectacular) or it could be that Nintendo is weary of foul language being used in the heat of the moment. Regardless, it's almost useless if you can't use it during the game.
