Final Fantasy 12 Celebration in NYC Next Month

There's a whole lot of stuff going on next October in New York and the only one us gamers care about is the recent announcement that October 11th will be declared Final Fantasy XII day. The events will take place in Times Square and be more than just a small celebration after all this is Square-Enix we are talking about here.

"DigitalLife's gaming pavilion is a great venue to introduce FINAL FANTASY XII, especially since it appeals to casual gamers in addition to our core fans. FINAL FANTASY XII Day is the perfect way to celebrate this remarkable game, and we are extremely honored to have a declaration from New York City."

Basically whats going on here is that Square-Enix and DigitalLife have signed an agreement to host this even together. DigitalLife will be providing the gaming activities, of which includes the complete version of Final Fantasy 12 in booths for all fans to enjoy before they actually get their hands on one later in the month.

FINAL FANTASY XII Day will be celebrated in Times Square on October 11, 2006. This prestigious honor highlights the impact that FINAL FANTASY XII has had on gaming and the digital entertainment community as a whole. Square Enix has called out to all FINAL FANTASY fans to unite in celebrating this esteemed occasion. In addition, a costume contest has been announced in which the winners will join Square Enix on FINAL FANTASY XII Day.

I do not completely understand the details of the contest thought currently. It would seem the contest would be on the same date, but based on the above statement you get to "Join," Square Enix if you win on Final Fantasy 12 Day? Does that mean you get a more insider view of the game or extra goodies? I really don't know. For more information about the Cosplay contest check out the Square-Enix site.
