UG - Status Report

So as you all I am surely noticed this site was experiencing a lot of downtime and problems over the past week or so, hopefully all of that has been resolved now. I am on a new host, a bigger server, and even have a lot more bandwidth to dish out for media.

Some of the problems on the site were being caused by very high sql usage, as a result I have changed a number of things around the site to better optimize it to run well smoother. The forums have been changed to some extent, mostly just disabling of things that are really not required like the top posters and the shoutout box. I have also changed the topsites so that it requires my approval before you are listed, this has to be done to prevent the spamming Turkish sites from joining the topsite (if the topsite continues to spike load I will disable it).

Lastly everything seems to be going moderately smooth, despite the lose of a few days of news and forum post all is back to normal, I am also going to make some modifications to the home page and see how you guys like it, I personally am tired of how the news is displayed. I will also be adding a few more plugins to speed things up and add some more cool features ;).
