Walkthrough

This walkthrough was written by Kevin Hall, also known as "BERSERKER" on GameFAQS

This walkthrough was written during my second time of playing through Spartan
(Normal) mode. Even though the walkthrough is wrote from a Spartan mode point
of view I am studying the boss fights to prepare for Titan Mode, so they have
some extreme detail that really isn't needed for Spartan mode, but may come in
handy for Titan Mode.

I have made a transcript for each Action Sequence to help out if you problems
timing the button presses. Keep in mind that the button presses and movements
are all random. Each Action Sequence is surrounded with *'s in the
walkthrough.

Here are the ways the required actions are listed in the Action Sequence
paragraphs:

[ACTION] Button Tap
(ACTION) 180 movement with left analog
@ACTION@ 360 movement with left analog
>< Shake analog left to right
>>ACTION<< Tap O button repeatedly

The only true spoilers of this FAQ are located in Action Sequences, so just
avoid the portions surrounded by *'s.

1. The City of Rhodes

Rhodes soldiers will try to overwhelm Kratos in his weakened state as the
Colossus peeps through the windows from outside. Kratos starts with fully
maxed Athena's Blades and Poseidon's Rage from the last game. Any basic combos
will work well for the time being to keep the soldiers at bay. Tapping []
works well for crowd control and [], [], /\ keeps the soldiers grounded while
in groups. You can kill any of them instantly with grabs (O button). The
Colossus will pound on the side of the building throughout the entire battle.

Open the door by pressing R1 near it then lift it up by tapping the O button
when the icon appears. Continue to fight through the soldiers on your way to
the back of the hallway. In an attempt of sheer aggression, the Colossus will
punch through the side of the wall and grab the kneeling soldiers by the
window. The hand can damage Kratos, so wait just a bit before continuing
through the hole in the left wall.

A --GREEN CHEST-- along with plenty of breakable objects will be lying around
in the room ahead. Break the objects around the crates for some extra red
orbs. Climb up the ladder (tap the X button while climbing to move faster).
Walk out to the balcony through the doorway at the top, but get ready to jump
or suffer damage as the Colossus punches the wooden beam supporting the
balcony.

BOSS: COLOSSUS

Attacks

Palm Smash: The Colossus holds his right hand back then crushes whatever is in
the path of his falling palm.
How to avoid: Roll right before his arm falls to avoid it.

Roman Throw: The Colossus reaches up into the alcove on the side of the
building and grabs an archer. He then chunks the archer at Kratos sending a
shower of soldier body parts toward him. He always throws them to the left
side, so just stay away from that side.
How to avoid: Stay away from the left side.

Fists Smash: The Colossus leans back both arms and pounds the side of the
building closest to him with both fists sending a shockwave across the current
floor.
How to avoid: Stay away from the area directly in front of the Colossus and
jump to avoid the shockwave.

Platform Shake: The Colossus grabs the platform that Kratos is on and
aggressively shakes it with his hands. He will only perform this while you're
on the platform with the catapult.
How to avoid: Jump off the platform.

Yell: The Colossus growls at Kratos. It has no effect.

Use this battle to familiarize yourself with dodging attacks through the use of
the right analog. Press the right analog in any direction to have Kratos roll
in that direction. It's good to get used to it now since it will be a
requirement in later boss battles.

Soldiers will pour into the area as the Colossus starts to attack, so you will
need to constantly keep them at bay by performing some sort of attack. Keep
your eye on the Colossus in the background and make sure to roll to the side
right before he presses his palm against the ground in an attempt to crush his
enemy. The Colossus will leave his arm on the ground and that is when you
should attack him by hitting his arm. After a few attacks, the Colossus will
yell and release several orbs. Don't be afraid to use Poseidon's Rage if the
soldiers start to gang up around you too much. There is a --BLUE CHEST-- on
top of the raised area on the left side just in case magic becomes a factor.

When the Colossus is eventually stunned (the screen will zoom in and out on
him), jump up to the raised area on the left side and walk up to the catapult.
Press the R1 button near the catapult to launch a rock directly into the
Colossus' face. Once the rock is launched, it's time to get up and personal
with the Colossus by tapping R1 in front of the catapult again to make Kratos
get into the launching portion of the catapult. Tap O to have Kratos launch
himself directly toward the Colossus' face and trigger an Action Sequence. Tap
the buttons as they display on the screen to put a dent in that hard steel.

Action Sequence

Kratos >>LAUNCHES<< himself via the catapult and grabs onto the Colossus'
forehead. The Colossus' hand reaches toward Kratos but Kratos quickly
[JUMPS] on the Colossus' hand. The Colossus launches Kratos into the air
as if flinging a bug then Kratos takes out his Athena's Blades while
falling then quickly [AVOIDS] the Colossus' grab as it reaches for him
with both hands. Kratos slides down the steel giant's right soldier and
buries one of his blades deep into its steel skin. The Colossus reaches
for Kratos with its left hand but Kratos quickly [JUMPS] to the Colossus'
face and [PLANTS] his Athena's Blades into the steel giant's right eye.
Kratos is then launched several feet away from the Colossus.

Bathhouse

Kratos will land in a nearby bathhouse. Surface to the top of the pool (X or
O) then destroy the boards along the side for some extra orbs. Lucky for
Kratos, some lovely ladies are taking a bath in one of the pools and will
reward him with red orbs for his godly dominance. Walk over to them and press
the O button to engage in a censored Action Sequence. Deliver the right moves
upon them and they will reward Kratos greatly with red orbs once satisfied.
Keep in mind that you will need to rotate the left analog clockwise and shake
it rapidly from right to left toward the end. Unleash the Kraken!

Jump back into the pool once your ego is filled and descend to the bottom ([]
button) then swim through the opening at the bottom of the pool. Perform a
swim charge (Hold R1 then release) directly into the drain gate to bash through
it. Surface on the other side then find the platform with the ladder to the
right. Climb the ladder to find a pillar of light (save point). Press R1
while standing in the middle of the light to save.

Pull the shiny switch (R1) to the side in order to make a shiny hook move by
and stop in front of the entrance on the opposite side of the room. Press R1
while near the shiny hook to have Kratos throw out his Athena's Blades then
hold R1 to swing via the chain on the blades. Press X to jump to the other
side as you swing toward it. Keep in mind that you can jump and still press R1
in the air to grapple onto shiny objects such as the hook - this will come in
much handy later.

Outside the Bathhouse

Hop up the next few platforms then open the door. A few Rhodes soldiers will
attack in the room ahead. Break the objects along the side of the room for
some extra red orbs. After climbing the ladder, walk towards the soldiers in
the background then prepare to tap the O button as the Colossus' foot breaks
through the roof in an attempt to smash Kratos. Damn thing!

Walk over to the remains of the ladder on the left side of the wall. There is
a --BLUE CHEST-- on the wall to the side of the ladder and a --RED CHEST-- in
the alcove near the debris across from the ladder. Climb anywhere on the dark
portion of the wall where the broken ladder is. Use X while climbing in any
direction (except down) to move faster in that direction. Keep in mind that
you can use the R1 button to move down the wall faster. That annoying Colossus
will damage the wall in two areas as you make your way to the left. When he
damages the wall the second time, leap away from the wall by pressing away from
it along with the jump button (press directly down, not diagonal) to find
another --RED CHEST-- on the platform below the wall. Jump back to the wall
and climb up to the top of the left side of the wall.

BOSS: COLOSSUS

Attacks:

Quake Combo: The Colossus punches the platform twice with his right hand and
then shoulder rams the platform with his left arm. This is only while standing
on the platform that you climb up to after climbing the wall.
How to avoid: Jump as he hits the platform or jump off the platform.

Fist Slam: The Colossus leans back his left (or right) arm then tries to smash
Kratos with his fist. He quickly swings his arm away (this portion can still
hit Kratos).
How to avoid: Jump or roll as his arm falls. Roll as he moves his arm back (if
you're in the direction of it) or keep your distance.

Hand Swipe: The Colossus leans back his left (or right) hand then performs a
horizontal swipe across the area in front of him.
How to avoid: Roll toward his arm.

Knuckle Slam: The Colossus leans his left (or right) arm high into the air and
pounds the ground with his knuckles.
How to avoid: Move away from the fist.

Arm Strike: The Colossus holds his left (or right) arm toward Kratos and slams
his arm and the back of his fist toward him.
How to avoid: Roll right as the arm is about to make contact with Kratos. This
must be timed very well.

Palm Smash: The Colossus quickly rakes his palm across the area and moves it
toward the side wall of the platform that Kratos is on.
How to avoid: Move to the outer edge closest to the ocean of the current
platform (where he performs his knuckle slam).

Double Fist Slam: The Colossus yells out of frustration while holding up both
arms then slams them both down in the middle of the current platform that
Kratos is on. He will only perform this after he is hit enough time to release
orbs.
How to avoid: Move to either side of the platform and jump to avoid the tremble
from the attack.

Angry Yell: The Colossus plants both hands on the platform then yells and
smacks the platform with one of his hands. This cannot hit you.

Upon climbing to the top of the wall, the Colossus will once again show
himself. Jump down to the area below and prepare for battle.

The Colossus has some new attacks this time and his attacks will differ
depending on where you are standing. Stay away from the far right of the right
platform and far left of the left platform or he will perform his knuckle slam
or arm strike. He only does the arm strike when you start to get too close to
either side and will perform the knuckle slam when you are at the furthest end
of either side. Both can be avoided but it's hard to hit him after these
attacks.

There is a chain in the middle of the two platforms but it is not wise to
transition from one side to the other while fighting him since the Colossus
will perform a palm smash toward your current platform to reposition himself.
If you do use the hook to swing to the other side then make sure that the
Colossus is attacking so you'll have a chance to avoid the palm smash.

Stay in the middle and wait for him to perform his fist slam. While rolling,
make sure to roll toward the side closest to his inner fingers (away from his
arm) since he will quickly swing his arm away after his fist comes crashing
down (roll left for left fist and right for right fist). Attack his fist while
he recovers from the fist slam in order to damage him. Don't stand too close
to his fist while attacking or you will suffer damage as he swings his arm
away. Attack his hands whenever he props them up along the side of the
platforms to hurt him even more, but make sure to watch for his attacks. You
can also jump in the air near him and unleash Poseidon's Rage for good amount
of damage.

Once the Colossus has been stunned three times, he will lean over and place his
arm on the far side of the opposite platform and have an icon over his head.
Run and swing over to the platform he is leaning on and press O button for an
Action sequence.

Action Sequence 1

Kratos throws his Athena's Blades into the Colossus' arm and pulls his
arm toward the wall making the Colossus slam his fist into the wall.
Kratos starts to climb the creature's arm and notices the Colossus about
to grab him so Kratos [ROLLS] up the giant's arm then [JUMPS] and plunges
the Athena's Blades into the Colossus' face making the creature yell in
pain. The Colossus reaches up to his face with his left hand but Kratos
quickly [LEAPS] up into the air and tosses his blades into the side of
the giant's destroyed eye and lands on top of the creature's left hand.
Kratos [JUMPS] toward the other side of the Colossus' face and buries the
blades into its cheek then jumps away as the Colossus destroys a wooden
structure.

All is not over yet though. Stun the Colossus another three times and make
your way over to him for another Action Sequence.

Action Sequence 2

Kratos throws his Athena's Blades into the Colossus' arm and pull his arm
toward the wall making the Colossus slam his fist into the wall. Kratos
starts to climb and notices the Colossus about to grab him so Kratos
[ROLLS] up the giant's arm then [JUMPS] and plunges the Athena's Blades
into the Colossus' already scarred face making the creature yell in pain
once again. Kratos dangles from the side then notices the giant's hand
about to smash him so he [LEAPS] away from the Colossus and hooks onto
the portion above the Colossus' undamaged eye as he land on the
creature's hand. Kratos jumps toward the Colossus' face and buries the
blades into its already damaged cheek once again. Kratos jumps into the
air and is caught in the right hand of the Colossus as it staggers out of
control. The Colossus angrily looks as Kratos then tries to crush him in
his fist but Kratos holds his ground by >>STRUGGLING<< against the
giant's grasp right before [STABBING] the fingers of the creature making
him yell in pain once again. An explosion is triggered from the giant's
hand and Kratos is launched far away from the Colossus and plummets
through the roof of a building.

Palace

A --BLUE CHEST-- will be lying to the side of the room that Kratos lands in.
Hop up to the platform up ahead then open the door. Ignore the Archers and red
chest behind the gate around the corner of the hall - all of those will be
dealt with in a few minutes. Turn to the right down the hall to find a save
point. Move down the other side of the hall and a group of soldiers will rush
Kratos. Finish off the Archers near the door at the end of hall.

BLOCK & PRESSURE SWITCH PUZZLE

Find the block with the bird on top on the left side after stepping out of the
hall then use R1 to grasp it and move it over the pressure switch next to the
gate. You can destroy the bird on top for some extra red orbs. While the
block is on the pressure switch, kick it to the other side by holding X and
releasing it while grappling the block. Stand on the pressure switch on your
side then flick the right analog toward the gate to quickly roll under it.
Just in case you forgot to kick the block through, there is a gate that you can
open down the hall to the right.

The block is destined to stand on the pressure switch on the other side of the
gate, but first we need it to collect some bonus chests. Kick the block down
the hall to the right then kick it to the hall in the background (Kratos'
left). Kick it to the wall at the far end and stand on it then jump to the
three chests up above. There are --2 RED CHESTS-- and one --UNMARKED CHEST--
containing the ++URN OF GAIA++. Kick the block back to the pressure switch and
move it on top to open the gate to the next hall.

Move down the hall to the left of the --GREEN CHEST-- and some more soldiers
will suddenly appear. Make your way to the Archers in the back so they don't
stand back and shoot you from afar. Don't pull the switch on the lift just yet
at the intersection since you can find the --RED CHEST-- from earlier on the
other side by moving toward the camera. Pull the switch on the lift.

Eastern Ramparts

Get off the lift when it reaches the top then rush up and hit the Colossus' eye
as he peaks through the doorway. The hall will fall to the ground and Kratos
will fall through doorway. Walk toward the railing in the back for a cutscene.

So I guess Zeus isn't such a bad guy after all. Jump up to the ledge
supporting the broken ladder against the left wall then move under the next
highest ledge to the right and leap up to it. Pull yourself up with X once
Kratos has grabbed on. Take in the sights of your next soldier slaughter as
you prepare to jump to the floor above and deal with the soldiers grouped
together. Make your way to the Archers first then take out the rest. There is
another set of Archers by the doors in the background and they will shoot from
a distance so take them down quickly as well.

Kick open the doors with the R1 button and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed.
Destroy the windows ahead then fall down to the area below and defeat the
Archers on the raised platform then deal with the soldiers. Perform a jump
while below the ledge to notice some red chests up above - it's good to know
where their located since the camera angle won't show them from above. Use the
ladder on the right side of the side you entered from to get back up to where
the window was. Carefully move across the ledges and jump across to the ledge
with the --2 RED CHESTS-- that the camera faces away from. You can also move
across the ledge to the right of the save point up ahead to get a good view of
one of the red chests. Make your way over to the save point then climb up the
ladder to the side.

Jump to the chain overlooking the hole then slide down to the floor below.
Fight off the soldiers then replenish your health or magic with the
--BLUE CHEST-- and --GREEN CHEST-- on the sides of the door. Open the door
then run outside. And when I say "run outside", I mean to keep the left analog
held to the top right position since the Colossus will destroy the bridge as
the camera angle switches. Make sure to double jump as you near the end of the
bridge since Kratos will most likely not make it if you don't - though I have
made it before (just barely) without jumping.

BOSS: COLOSSUS

Attacks:

Arm Swipe: The Colossus leans his left arm to the left side and rakes the area
in front of him.
How to Avoid: Roll the second right before it hits.

Arm Swipe Combo: The Colossus leans his left arm to the right side and rakes
the area in front of him twice then pounds the ground with his fist sending a
shockwave across the platform.
How to Avoid: Roll the second right before the first two swipes hit then jump
to avoid the shockwave. I would advise you to roll away from the Colossus
while avoiding the first two rakes so you'll have time to jump when avoiding
the fist slam. This takes some good timing to avoid all three attacks.

Fire Waves: The Colossus pounds the side of the platform with his damaged arm
sending empty trails through the platform that eventually erupt into blue
flames.
How to Avoid: Stand in between the trails that move across the ground. The
flames always appear in the same areas, so just remember a good place to stand.

Fist Slam: The Colossus quickly leans over and slams his fist onto the platform
creating a shockwave.
How to Avoid: Stay away from the middle area and jump to avoid the shockwave.

Flame Spray: While the Colossus is leaning on the platform, it shoots a blue
flame from its damaged arm and moves its arm across the area in front of it to
spread the flame.
How to Avoid: Move/Roll away from the immediate area in front of him.

Don't even think of grabbing that Sword of Olympus yet, since it will take time
to be able to use it. At the start of the battle, the Colossus will
immediately slam his damaged arm into the side of the platform and send fire
waves across the area. Find a good place to stand in between the waves. The
object here is to stun the Colossus so Kratos has enough time to bestow his
godly powers into the Sword of Olympus. You will need to stun him a total of
three times in order to fully power the sword.

You may have noticed that his broken hand is lying to the right side of the
platform. Walk over to the hand and face the knuckles then tap R1 to make
Kratos hurl the hand directly toward the Colossus for an instant stun. I would
advise you to save this freebie stun for the third phase since your magic will
be gone by then. To easily stun the Colossus stand in front of him and use
Poseidon's Rage to quickly eat away at his health. It takes about three
Poseidon's Rages but it will eventually stun him. You can also stand directly
in front of the Colossus and hit him anywhere on his body, but remember to
avoid his arm swipe combo since he will perform it regularly while you're up
close. Watch his arms and keep in mind that his swing from the left is a
single swing while his swing from the right will result in a combination
attack.

Run over and grab the Sword of Olympus with R1 and hold the button whenever the
Colossus is stunned to make Kratos bestow his remaining powers into the blade.
He will bestow his experience into the blade first (all red orbs and power
levels for his Athena's Blades) followed by his magic gauge (all magic will be
gone along with Poseidon's Rage) and then he will give up his remaining health
(his life gauge will fall by half). Once the blade of Olympus is fully
powered, Kratos will pull it out of the ground and fire a shot at the Colossus.

The Colossus will lean over at this point and only perform a flame attack where
he will flame the immediate area in front of him. Stand close to the Colossus
and hit him with any of the combos from the Blade of Olympus. Watch for the
Colossus to turn his head then quickly roll away to avoid his flame attack. It
takes very little damage since Kratos' life gauge is so incredibly low at this
point. Once he has been stunned three times, the icon will appear for the
button tap sequence. It doesn't involve any button tapping though!

2. Inside the colossus

The camera angles can get very annoying in here thanks to such a tight area and
the camera's willingness to show you the flaming columns, so be careful while
moving along the platforms. Slice through the soldiers on the platform up
ahead with your new Blade of Olympus and continue onward. The burning
structures at the top of the area will start to get in the way while moving
along the platforms. Hop over the first burning column that lies in the way of
the wooden platform with some well-timed jumping. When you come upon the
second burning column lying in your path, move across the ledge on the left and
press R1 when the icon appears to have Kratos stab the circular middle portion
of the flame column to absorb the Colossus' power into the blade.

The columns for the lower portion will crumble once the burning middle portion
has been stabbed. Leap across to the platform where the burning platform
previously blocked your path and climb onto the netted ropes on the side of the
wall. Climb over to the next platform then jump to the rope below the burning
column up above. Use the rope to climb over to the other side across from you.
Press R1 to drop while above the platform ahead then continue onward and fight
through the next batch of soldiers.

Jump to the platform above then walk carefully across the narrow ledge. Don't
go straight though since a flaming column is blocking the way. Turn to the
left and move toward the circular portion of the flaming column. Hit the chain
around the column with normal attacks then press R1 to stab it. Use the
--GREEN CHEST-- to the side if needed then run back across the narrow ledge and
walk to the side that the flaming column was blocking previously.

Hop up to the next platform and continue onward. A few soldiers will attack
then you will need to scale another netted rope. Some more soldiers will
attack after getting off the rope. Walk over to the boards in front of the
flaming circular portion of the burning column and Kratos will hug the wall.
Inch across the small ledge on the side of the wood cover housing the column.
Use R1 to make Kratos drop and grab onto the ledge then move under the burning
column that will be lying along the side. Press X to have Kratos pull himself
back up then jump to the circular portion of the burning column. Destroy the
chains and stab the column with R1.

The camera will zoom in to show a rope, where one of the burning columns used
to be, but first turn around then run over toward the netted ropes against the
wall across from where the flame column was and climb to the platform above to
find an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing your first ++GORGON EYE (1/?)++. Jump
and climb the rope that was shown a few moments ago then jump off when the
wooden platform up above comes into view. Leap along the next few platforms
then climb the ladder.

PENDULUM PUZZLE

When the camera shows a very confusing overhead view, walk over to the switch
and pull it to make a metal pendulum extend downwards. You can't move across
the rope yet since the beams powering the Colossus' eyes are in the way. Climb
back down the ladder then attack the pendulum so that it moves back and forth -
just one attack will do; it doesn't take several. Climb back up to the
platform above then pull the switch again to make the bottom of the pendulum
move back upwards. Watch as the pendulum moves from side to side and blocks
the blue rays that hit the inside of the Colossus' eyes. You need to move
along the rope and climb by both blue rays as the pendulum blocks them from
hitting the rope. The pendulum will remain moving so there is no time issue
involved in its swinging.

Drop to the wooden platform on the other side and jump over the burning column
in your path. This wooden platform will lead you to the final burning circular
column. Destroy the chain and plunge the Blade of Olympus into the burning
column.

Without any type of power source, the Colossus will start to crumble. Control
of Kratos will be given back to you at this point and you must quickly hop
across the platforms and make your way toward the Colossus' mouth. Drop out of
its mouth to continue.

East Ramparts

After the Colossus tags Kratos in the cutscene, control will be given back to
the player. All of Kratos' attacks and movements are basically nonexistent
during this period and even the slightest bit of movement is a near impossible
task for him to perform. Lurch toward the Blade of Olympus.

BOSS: ZEUS

This isn't really much of a boss battle since Kratos is powerless at this point
and can barely even swing his blades. It is interesting to try to hit Zeus
with Kratos' weak strikes in vane though and watch blood fly from his perilous
attempts.

In other words, Kratos is destined to lose this fight. The O button tap is
meaningless since Kratos will lose anyway.

The Underworld

Kratos will start out clinging to a wall of the underworld with very little
life. The Arms of Hades protruding from the wall must be defeated in order to
climb. Each hand only takes two weak strikes or one heavy strike to defeat -
heavy strikes are recommended since they can defeat tons of hands at one time.
The hands will cough up green orbs and they take very little life with each
hit, so it is near impossible to die here.

Make your way to the right and jump to the next wall on the right. Jump to the
wall up above from the right wall and continue moving upward and slashing to
get out of the underworld.

East Ramparts

Make sure to use the save point to the side especially after all the action
that you have been through. Examine the body of the weaponless Spartan soldier
to trigger a cutscene. Walk over to Pegasus after the cutscene and press the
R1 button to trigger another cutscene.

3. Flight to the Lair of the Titan

Welcome to the first flying stage of God of War II. The controls for these
stages are much like a Panzer Dragoon game. Attack with [] (light), /\
(strong), and O (grab), dodge quickly to the right or left with R1 and L1, and
finally perform a speed boost attack by tapping the X button. Keep in mind
that the speed boost will drain some of your magic.

Your first task is to defeat four Griffin enemies. Heavy attacks will only
allow the Griffins to get away from you, so use light attacks to attack each
one and ram them until they are dizzied then grab them with grab button and
press the button that appears at the start of the Action Sequence to finish
them off. Use a speed boost while behind a Griffin if it ever hangs out in
front of you while flying. Move to the sides to avoid any energy blast from
the Griffins. Whenever a Griffin suddenly flies upward when it is beside you
while attacking it, move up yourself in order to avoid its tail attack.

After four Griffins are defeated, a Raven will appear in the distance and fly
directly toward you. Fly right in front of him with Pegasus then perform a
speed boost directly toward him to set off an Action Sequence. If you don't
perform an immediate speed boost or miss the button tap then you will need to
shake the analog to the left and right in order to keep Pegasus from falling
out of the air. If you hit the Raven right when he first appears this fight is
nothing at all.

Action Sequence (Raven)

Kratos [LEAPS] on top of the Raven then grabs ahold of its neck and
>>STRUGGLES<< to quickly break its neck.

The Dark Rider enemy on top of a blue and purple Griffin will appear and start
to fire purple fireballs while flying up ahead. It is best to watch for an
open portion in between the fireballs and move toward that spot as the
fireballs shoots toward Pegasus in order to avoid them. Pegasus will speed up
rapidly during this chase so you can't use the speed up attack. All you need
to do is simply survive until you make it to the next area.

4. The Lair of the Titan

Use light attacks to attack the Harpies that crowd around Pegasus while flying
around the cavern. Eventually the Titan will grab Pegasus and trap him under
his palm.

Attack the Harpy enemies that fly toward Kratos then drop down to the platform
below with the --GREEN CHEST--. Drop off the side that the camera refuses to
show and climb down the wall. Drop down to the platform with the --RED CHEST--
and --UNMARKED CHEST--. The unmarked chest contains a ++GORGON EYE (2/?)++.

Work your way back up to the rock ledge with the Titan's fingers and attack the
middle finger to make it move back toward the wall and grant you access to the
area ahead. Grab onto the rough wall and climb downward (use R1 to slide).
Beast-legged Sentries will appear on the wall at the bottom. Take some time to
finish them off then leap over to the side of the rock wall across the gap
(hold toward the wall then press X).

Climb up toward the rough section of the ceiling above to make Kratos grab onto
the ceiling then climb to the right. You can still use the X button to move
faster even while climbing on the ceiling. Attack the Sentries then keep
pulling yourself across. Keep climbing along the rough wall and transitioning
yourself appropriately to reach the floor below and gain access to a save
point.

Move down the tunnel ahead and some Harpies and a Minotaur will attack at the
first turn. The Minotaurs are the exact same as they were in the first game.
Use heavy attacks to knock them down then wail on them while they lie helpless
on the ground. If one of them every starts to block then stop attacking him
and wait for a while since he will only deflect your attack and counter at that
point. Executing their finishing kill will always give you some green orbs so
keep that in mind. Open the --GREEN CHEST-- to the side if needed then
continue further into the cave.

Run over and open the --RED CHEST-- up ahead then break the cage suspended by
the rope. Use the rope to slide down to the next area. The shiny hook to the
side of the rope can be used to get back across. Run further into the cave to
reach the exit.

Snowy Mountain Ledge

The camera will zoom around the outside area to show you all that lies in wait
up ahead. Immediately break the wood towers to the side to quickly defeat the
Archers. Ignore the Minotaur that appears and keep attacking the towers then
deal with the Minotaur. Climb up the ledge on the side of the rock wall then
lean up against the wall of the narrow ledge and move across to the other side
then hop up to the area above. You'll find a --GREEN CHEST-- and a --RED
CHEST-- at the top. Slide down the chain up ahead.

What in the world is that bird doing in the background? Walk up the arm of the
Titan's hand and see for yourself. Wow. Attack Prometheus afterward until he
falls from the Titan's finger and hangs in the air above the fire. Jump to the
chain near the Titan's pinky then slide down it. Sadly, you can't finish off
the mortal Titan like he desires for the moment so walk to the other side. The
camera will zoom to show your next destination.

Don't climb the platforms just yet since there is nothing up there to be done.
Walk around the far side of the mountain wall and grab onto the rough portion
of the wall and climb down to the area below. You'll need to fight off a few
Sentries along the wall and on the bottom rock platform. Find the
--RED CHEST-- and the save point at the bottom after the coast is clear.

Continue across the current ledge and more Sentries will attack. You can't
swing across the broken bridge to the side just yet. Open the --UNMARKED
CHEST-- against the far mountain wall to receive another ++GORGON EYE (3/?)++.
Climb the rough wall on the side of the mountain. You'll need to leap above
the gap in the wall to continue climbing. A few Sentries will climb down the
wall and attack. Enter the Titan's Cave at the top.

Typhon's Cavern

While running down the tunnel, you'll notice a --GREEN CHEST-- and a --RED
CHEST-- along the way. Grapple to the stalactite at the end of the tunnel and
use it to swing across to the platform on the other side. You'll notice a
chest behind some bars on the other side. To open it, move to the right and
find the chain that extends back to the other side that you just came from.
Sliding across this chain will release the bars that guard the chest on the
other side for a few seconds. Quickly grapple back across and open the
--UNMARKED CHEST-- to receive your first ++PHOENIX FEATHER (1/?)++.

Continue further into the cave on your current side. After jumping up a rock
platform a Gorgon will appear. Be ready to roll to the side to avoid her swift
attacks every time that she dodges an attack and roll constantly whenever she
performs her stare to avoid being turned to stone. Once you start to attack
her, she will usually fall prey to the rest of the combo, but watch for her to
dodge to the side and be ready to roll away from her counter attack. Perform
the button tap kill when the icon appear and rotate the left analog in the
directions shown to tear her head off. Two more Gorgons will appear after the
first dies. A group of Harpies will join the battle eventually. Use the
Gorgon's stares to your advantage and make them stare at the Harpies during
their Gorgon gaze for some very quick deaths.

Find the shimmering rock structure near the gap and attack it to reveal a new
path. A Titan's voice will be heard as you make your way to the
--GREEN CHEST--, --RED CHEST--, and save point up ahead. The camera angle will
show the Titan known as Typhon in the background.

Walk toward Typhon's head and the camera will zoom in on his shimmering eye.
He will try to knock Kratos off of the column by blowing air toward him. If
you ever fall then quickly tap the X button for Kratos to grab onto the side
then pull yourself up when the Titan stops blowing. Keep moving to the left
side and take shelter behind the rock columns to avoid being blown off into the
pit below. Harpies will ambush you once the first rock pillar is reached.
Jump and attack them or grab them to keep Kratos behind the rock column. Run
across the ledge and seek shelter behind the two very small rocks. More
Harpies will attack but they will fly lower this time, so try to limit your
attacks to grabs. Run behind the tall rock and fight off the remaining
Harpies. Continue along the path ahead, but be sure to look out for Typhon's
continued breath.

When you reach the big rock platform, Typhon will threaten Kratos again.
Locate the shimmering rock on the right side and attack it to make it crack.
Walk over to the rock and grab it then lift with O button taps as the icon
appears to make a bridge leading up to Typhon's head. Run up the path when he
stops blowing and he will start to talk again. Press the R1 button to start a
brutal sequence in which Kratos will receive **TYPHON'S BANE**. Don't try to
run when he starts blowing again (the game won't let you anyway). Hold down
the L2 button to aim with Typhon's Bane. The bow will automatically target
Typhon's other eye. Shoot his eye with the [] button to finish him off.

Run back across the rock bridge when he is blinded. The rock bridge will fall
and several Sentries will attack. A few archers will appear on the rock
platforms in the background as well. Use Typhon's Bane to target the Archers
and shoot them (use the right analog to switch targets).

Don't bother with the path on the right just yet, walk down the path that the
camera angle is slightly hiding by moving against the camera. You'll notice a
big bonfire on the other side with two chests near it covered with ice.
Several Sentries will attack at this point and they will keep appearing which
is a good thing since you will need them. Grab a Sentry with the O button and
tap the [] button to slam him against the ground and toss him into the fire.
The fire will be automatically targeted once a Sentry is grabbed. After five
Sentries have been tossed into the fire, the ice on the four chests will melt
and you will be free to open them. There are --3 RED CHESTS-- and an
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing another ++PHOENIX FEATHER (2/?)++

Run back across the platform that Typhon is filling full of hot air. Walk over
to the right wooden portion that is overlooking a gap. Shoot at the steel
crate covering the grapple point of the first shiny stalactite with Typhon's
Bane then shoot at the archers on the other side. Grapple to the first
stalactite then jump and grapple to the rest to get back across to the other
side. Break all the rocks on the other side for a fairly good red orb boost
then save your game at the save point nearby. Run all the way back outside.
Remember to slide along the chain to cross the gap. Typhon will threaten
Kratos once again upon leaving the cave. A --BLUE CHEST-- has now appeared at
the beginning of the cave if you need a refill on magic.

Snowy Mountain Ledge

While standing at the entrance of the cave, you need to shoot the cage that is
around the grapple point on the left side with Typhon's Bane to continue
onward, but first, climb back down the wall on the right. Drop to the bottom
and walk over to the broken bridge. Shoot the cage around the grapple point
with Typhon's Bane then swing across to the other side and open the --UNMARKED
CHEST-- for a ++GORGON'S EYE (4/?) and open the --RED CHEST--.

Climb back to the top and use the grapple point to return to the area next to
Prometheus. Open the --GREEN CHEST-- to the side if needed then target the
cage up above and shoot it with Typhon's Bane to make a wooden plank fall.
Climb the rope then jump to the ledge along the right side. Jump up the rock
platforms then swing down the chain to land on the rock arm next to Prometheus.
Slide down the chain on the rock hand's pinky then target the chain holding
Prometheus and shoot it with Typhon's Bane until Prometheus falls.

Kratos will gain the **RAGE OF THE TITANS** once Prometheus is freed from his
torment. The area will seal off and Minotaurs and Sentries will appear. Use
the Rage of the Titans (R3 + L3) to quickly defeat most of the enemies. Unlike
Rage of the Gods from the first game, Rage of Titans does not need a full
charge to activate and it can be turned off by tapping R3 + L3. If you decide
to deliver a finishing blow via the O button then always remember to turn off
Rage of the Titans so the extra energy is not wasted. The Rage meter for Rage
of the Titans will replenish as you attack enemies or from consuming yellow
orbs from your enemies.

Run all the way back over to the platform where you shot the cage to release
the plank and climb that rope again. This will take you back to the platform
where you slid down the chain to get to Prometheus. Locate the chain that
extends downward right next to the chain that you slid across and jump to it.
Climb downward and jump into the cave below and open the --2 RED CHESTS-- and
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE++ (5/?). Climb back up the chain
then jump back to the platform. Jump to the rough wall against the side of the
mountain and climb along it then jump to the next section and climb down to the
platform below. A --RED CHEST-- and --2 UNMARKED CHEST-- will be lying in an
alcove. The middle chest contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (3/?)++. Make your way
back across to the platform with the chain extending toward the rock hand.

Climb along the chain and fight off the Sentries that climb toward you. Use []
attacks to stun them then grab them with a O button grab. Open the --GREEN
CHEST-- on the other side if needed then jump down to the area below. Open the
yellow chest to the side of the cave entrance to replenish your Rage of the
Titans meter then activate the Rage of the Titans and hit the door with the
insignia to destroy it.

The Hand Cavern

Fight off the Sentries as they run up to you then grapple back across to the
other side of the gap. Open the --BLUE CHEST-- if needed and continue onward.
Defeat the next set of Sentries that appear then save your game before
continuing onward. Climb back across the wall. A few Sentries will impede
your progress naturally. Climb back up to the platform where the hand still
traps Pegasus. Use the Rage of the Titans and attack each finger to make the
hand move out of the way and free Pegasus. Attack the fingers normally to
build up the Rage of Titans meter if it runs out. Walk over to Pegasus and get
on top of him to leave this area.

5. Flight to the Island of Creation

Strap yourself in for another high-flying adventure. You likely noticed the
Sentries preparing their Griffins. Move to the sides as the Griffins swoop by
Pegasus and release fireballs.

Hold L2 and shoot at the Harpies with Typhon's Bane as they fly by. Kratos
will automatically lock onto them. A whole swarm of Harpies will surround
Kratos eventually. Use [] slashes to hit a whole crowd of them and use O to
grab them out of the sky.

Once the Harpies are taken care of a Sentry on top of Griffon will fly next to
Kratos. Hit the Griffin with the [] button and rams as you did with the
Griffons in the prior stage to weaken them until the O button icon appear then
finish it off. Use a speed burst to catch up to the Sentry up ahead then
attack him and perform a button tap kill to him when the icon appears.
Sometimes the Sentry will leap off of the Griffin and try to land on Pegasus to
finish off Kratos - if this happens, shake the analog from left to right to
shake them off. Sometimes they jump toward Pegasus and miss then fall to their
doom, but their Griffin will always remain.

Action Sequence: (Griffon w/rider)

Kratos jumps on top of the Griffin and [SLICES] the Sentry with his
blades. The Sentry tries to stab Kratos but Kratos quickly [GRABS] his
hand and stabs him then kicks the Sentry off and tears the wings off the
Griffon. Kratos leaps off the Griffin then lands back on Pegasus
afterwards.

Another Raven will appear once the Griffin Riders are defeated. Quickly use a
speed boost then press the required buttons to kill him. Speed up to catch up
to one of the two Sentries on the Griffins up ahead then fight him off. Take
out the remaining Griffin then the Dark Rider will appear once again and a
battle will take place.

BOSS: DARK RIDER

Attacks:

Ram: The Dark Griffin rams into the side of Pegasus.
How to avoid: Move up or down.

Spear Swing: The Dark Rider swings his spear at Kratos.
How to avoid: Move away from the Dark Rider.

Force Shot: The Dark Rider fires a burst of energy from his spear.
How to avoid: Move away from the Dark Rider.

Fireballs: The Dark Griffin speeds up and the Dark Rider hurls small fireballs
at Kratos.
How to avoid: Move to the sides to avoid the fireballs then use a speed boost
to catch up to the Dark Rider.

Start off by attacking the Dark Rider with [] button attacks and rams but watch
for him to swing his spear. He will perform two close range attacks with his
spear so be ready to move back when you see him about to attack. The main
attack that you need to watch for is his ram, so try to stay slightly above to
avoid it. He usually rams after ever other attack. If the Dark Rider ever
gets ahead of Kratos, it will launch fireballs so use a speed boost to quickly
ram the Dark Griffon and get back next to him.

Before long, the battle will give way to a high-speed chase. The Dark Rider
will stay in front of Pegasus and shoot huge beams of energy toward him. Like
the first time, look for a space in between the fireballs then move to that
side quickly to avoid taking damage.

Soon the Dark Rider will slow down then move beside Pegasus. He cannot be
attacked at this point. The Dark Griffin will automatically ram Pegasus and
Kratos will be thrown into the air starting an Action Sequence.

Action Sequence

Kratos falls and sinks one of his blades into the Dark Griffin and pulls
himself up onto the bird. The Dark Rider walks over to Kratos and
attempts to kick him off, but Kratos >>GRABS HIS LEG AND STRUGGLES<< with
the Dark Rider then eventually punches the Rider back onto the bird as
Kratos climbs on top with him. Kratos grabs the neck of the Dark Rider
and [FALLS THEN STABS] him in the side of the chest. The Dark Rider
quickly turns the tables by flipping Kratos onto his back but Kratos
quickly [MOVES] his head to avoid a stab from the Dark Rider's spear.
Kratos [GRABS] the Dark Rider's arm then breaks it and takes the spear
then picks the Dark Rider up with one hand and stabs him. The Dark Rider
falls off the spear and plummets to his doom. Kratos turn his attention
to the Dark Griffin then impales the bird with the spear and stabs the
bird while tearing its left wing off. Content with his ownage, Kratos
leaps off the bird and falls to the island below. He quickly [GRAPPLES]
the rock wall and swings then grabs onto the rough portion of the wall.

6. The Island of Creation

The Temple of Lahkesis

Kratos will start this level attached to the same rough portion of the wall
that he landed on during the prior cutscene. Scale the rough portion of the
wall, transitioning Kratos appropriately while climbing, and climb up to the
walkway above. Walk over to the right side and find the --2 UNMARKED CHESTS--
in the hidden alcove. The right chest contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (4/?)++.
Walk to the other side of walkway and you'll find a save point along with a
ladder.

Climb up the ladder then keep moving up so Kratos will hang from the wall.
Climb over to the broken portion of the outer section up above and pull
yourself up. Guardians of the temple will attack as you pull up. They fight
basically the same as the Sentries though they can take more punishment.
Defeat them and jump to the ladder on the right side and climb to the floor
above.

Several new Cerberus Hound enemies will attack on the next floor. Press O
button to kick them into each other and eventually break their neck. Kicking
them around is incredibly entertaining and Kratos is invincible during the full
animation so they can't damage you during the kick. They'll quickly crowd
around if you attack with normal hits. There's a --GREEN CHEST-- on the left
side of this area and --2 RED CHESTS-- on the right side.

GATE PUZZLE

Jump and attack the hanging bodies up above to collect some extra red orbs.
Make sure to destroy the big vases in the back for some more red orbs. The
middle body next to the vases has not decomposed yet and will plummet to the
ground instead of shattering. This body will be used in a puzzle in just a
moment, so grab it with the R1 button and take the body over to the lift on the
left side and drop it on the lift. Pull the switch to descend to the floor
below.

Notice the pressure switch to the side? Pick up the dead body that you got
from above and place it on the pressure switch. This will open the first gate
in the middle. Now, walk over to the handle against the wall and pull it back
to open the second gate in the back of the corridor. Let go of the handle once
you've pulled it all the way back then quickly run to the back of the hall and
move through the doorway before the gate closes again.

Walk over to the bridge off to the left in the courtyard area and press R1 to
kick it down. A cutscene will play as you step out onto the bridge. When the
cutscene ends, walk around the right side of the doorway and open the
--UNMARKED CHEST-- to receive a ++GORGON EYE (6/?)++. This should extend
Kratos' life gauge if you've been collecting them all so far. Walk around the
other (left) side of the doorway and move quickly as the concrete starts to
crumble then jump as it falls from under Kratos to make it to the other side.
Leap over the railing on the far left side then fall to the floor below.

The Garden of Lahkesis

BOSS: CERBERUS

Attacks:

Claw: Cerberus leans back his right paw and strikes at Kratos.
How to avoid: Block or roll to the side.

Headbutt: Cerberus quickly runs then headbutts Kratos with all three heads.
How to avoid: Block or roll to the side.

Fireball: Cerberus stands on its back paws and breathes one or three fireballs.
How to avoid: Roll to the side.

Pounce: Cerberus will slightly charge his claw attack then pounce if the paw
hits Kratos.
How to avoid: Block or roll to the side. Shake the left analog from left to
right to escape the pounce if it connects.

Cerberus Hounds will attack constantly during this battle and you can still
kick them around and enjoy invincibility, and they do take quite a bit from the
Cerberus, so you may want to try kicking some. He will stay right up on you as
your kick ends so be ready for his attacks. Keep in mind that all of Cerberus'
attacks are blockable except for his fireballs. Use [] attacks and focus
directly on Cerberus. You could easily use Rage of the Titans and lay the
smackdown on this boss easily since he coughs up yellow orbs after each button
tap sequence.

The main attack that you need to watch out for is his headbutt since the attack
is so instant. Roll to the side whenever you see him preparing any of his
other attacks and try to roll away every now and then just in case he is about
to bite. The Hounds aren't that much a problem during this battle since you'll
have to constantly roll anyway, so they never get much of a chance to attack.
If Cerberus every jump on Kratos then wiggle the left analog to the right and
left to kick him off.

When the icon appears each time, press the button to start an Action Sequence
to finish off one of the three heads.

Action Sequences

  1. Kratos punches Cerberus and >>PULLS<< on its right head then tears it
    off.
  2. Kratos punches Cerberus then stabs the left head right before he
    >>PULLS<< and tears it off.
  3. 3) Kratos stabs the middle head then breaks its neck. (no button taps for
    this one)

BLOCK PUZZLE

Use the --GREEN CHEST-- and the --BLUE CHEST-- on the left side of the garden
to replenish yourself. Walk over to the statues against the right side of the
wall and destroy them for some red orbs. Breaking the second statue from the
back will make a stone block fall. Push the stone block over to the high
platform that the Cerberus jumped down from then jump up to it. Open the --RED
CHEST-- then defeat the Hounds that attack. Make use of the save point as
well.

Walk over to the narrow section that leads to the outside walkway. Climb down
(or slide down) the broken section of the wall. Move down the walkway at the
bottom and find the --GREEN CHEST-- and --RED CHEST-- surrounding the ladder at
the bottom area. Climb the ladder and attach yourself to the ceiling and climb
across the gap. Sentries will appear and attack while you move across the top
of the ceiling. Break the shiny concrete piece in the way and keep moving
ahead. More Sentries will appear up ahead. Keep following the untiled section
of the ceiling and transition to the wall up above then pull yourself up to the
platform above.

Kick around the Hounds at the top and try to carry the fight so that Kratos is
behind the concrete block by the railing so the arrows from the Archers in the
background cannot hit him. Once all the Hounds are defeated, step out from
around the side of the block and use Typhon's Bane to quickly shoot the Archers
on the back walkway. Walk over to the section of the wall near the left garden
section and jump across to the walkway where the Archers were. Hop up to the
next platform and open the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- if needed.

Several Sentries and a few Archers will appear as you make your way to the lift
in the back. Activate Rage of the Titans if they start to overwhelm you. Run
over to the lift and pull the switch to ride down deeper into the building.
Get off the lift and walk into the center of the room.

BOSS: SIRENS

Attacks:

Claw Combo: The Siren's claws glow blue then it lunges toward Kratos and
performs a scratching combo. The number of hits vary.
How to Avoid: Block or roll. This move can be easily deflected with little
effort in timing because of how fast it is.

Siren's Song: The Siren's head emits a bluish glow while it leans its head back
and unleashes a shriek that stuns its foe.
How to Avoid: Get far enough away to where the shriek is ineffective. This can
be avoided by rolling with precise timing as well.

A Siren will appear near the mural on the side of the room. Three more will
appear once the first is defeated. These enemies are much like Gorgons in the
way that they move. They constantly attack after their dodges while avoiding
your attacks so be ready to roll away or block. All of their attacks can be
guarded, but be sure to prepare for their shriek. When they yell, it will
cause Kratos to lose control of himself and you will need to shake the analog
from left to right in order to break free from the effects of their song.

Use the Plume of Prometheus attack ([], [], /\) to quickly launch them into the
air then juggle them with attacks and hit them while they are on the ground.
They won't last long if you knock them down. Use Typhon's Bane often to weaken
them quickly while moving around as well. They release blue orbs once defeated
so magic power is not an issue. Rage of the Titans works well as usual. When
the icon appears above them, finish them off with a backbreaker to make them
scream and break the mural to the left side of the room. Even though several
of them appear, only three need to be killed to break the mural. They keep
appearing until the mural is broken.

Replenish your life with the --GREEN CHEST-- in the room if needed. Before
leaving the room, walk over to the right side with the giant chain then jump to
one of the small platforms on the side of the chain. Jump on top of the chain
and run all the way to the top of it. Jump and grab the ceiling then climb
over the --2 UNMARKED CHESTS-- on the platform across from you. Break the
smaller chain that blocks the way to the chests. The left chest contains a
++GORGON EYE (7/?)++. Fall back to the bottom and walk through the doorway
where the mural used to be.

Gaia will tell the tale behind the steeds in the background up ahead as you
walk down the corridor. Open the --BLUE CHEST-- if needed then save your game
at the save point. Run across the very long chain to reach the Steeds of Time
in the background.

7. The Steeds of Time

Climb the wooden wall to the left of the walkway after stepping off the chain.
Walk up the stairs and open the --GREEN CHEST-- and --BLUE CHEST-- on the side
of the door if needed. The door requires the Horse Keeper's Key in order to
unlock it. Walk over to the back of the area near the blue chest and find the
switch on that side then pull it to make the metal bar lower a rope above the
wall you just climbed. Run back to the other side and quickly slide across the
rope. The metal piece will rise back up after a few seconds. Walk over to the
man standing in front of the door on the other side to trigger a cutscene.

BOSS: THESEUS

Attacks:

Scepter Stab: Theseus stabs forward with his scepter.
How to avoid: Block or roll.

Scepter Combo: Theseus moves forward with two stabs followed by a scepter
uppercut.
How to avoid: Block or roll.

Uppercut: Theseus uppercuts Kratos with his scepter.
How to avoid: Block or roll.

Ice Eruption: Theseus powers his scepter with the element of ice then runs to
the side and plunges his scepter into the ground making ice stalagmites surface
from the floor.
How to avoid: Roll/Stay away from the ice stalagmites.

Counter Grab: Theseus grabs Kratos with his scepter while Kratos attacks and
holds him in place then places him on the ground and stabs him.
How to avoid: Rotate the analog in the direction displayed on the screen.
Kratos will not take any damage if the grab is broken.

To make this battle easier, I suggest that you have Lv. 2 Athena's Blades and
Lv. 2 Typhon's Bane.

The first part of the battle is fairly straightforward. Guard his attacks or
roll away from his attacks then counter him with [] hits from the Athena's
Blades. Keep a watch for his scepter to glow blue and that will signal that he
is about to attack - sometimes it doesn't glow though. Keep in mind that he
will perform a three hit combo sometimes instead of a single hit. Be ready for
his counter grab while attacking him, he will always catch Kratos with this
counter eventually. Once he grabs Kratos, rotate the left analog in the
direction shown on the screen to break free from Theseus' hold.

When he charges his scepter with ice elemental move away from him as he runs to
the side and hits the ground since ice stalagmites will surface around him.
You can hit him as he charges his scepter for some free hits though, just make
sure to stand in between the ice stalagmites as they surface.

Counter Grab Action Sequence

Theseus grabs Kratos with his scepter and holds him in place but Kratos
quickly (GRABS) Theseus' Scepter and throws him to the ground.

Theseus will eventually jump to the top of the entrance to the building. He
will start a whole different set of attacks at this point.

Ice Shots: Theseus fires a single iceball at Kratos.
How to avoid: Roll right before each one hits Kratos and get ready to roll
again.

Ice Shot Barrage: Theseus hurls three iceballs at Kratos.
How to avoid: Roll.

Ice Stalagmites: Theseus pounds the ground and makes ice stalagmites rise from
the ground.
How to avoid: Roll/Stay away from the ice stalagmites.

Once he is on top of the building he will shoot ice shots toward Kratos. Roll
to avoid each shot and shoot him with Typhon's Bane when you get the chance.
Its possible to get a "roll, shoot, roll, shoot" pattern at this point. After
hurling enough ice shots, he will summon two Minotaurs to deal with you. Fight
off the Minotaurs, but keep your eyes on Theseus since he will shoot multiple
ice shots at you and make ice stalagmites surface from the ground while the
Minotaurs are present.

Use Rage of the Titans to quickly weaken the Minotaurs. The good aspect of the
Minotaurs is that they will cough up a bunch of blue orbs once you perform a
finishing move on them allowing you to replenish your magic gauge and fire more
shots at Theseus through Typhon's Bane. Don't stay near the walls of the
building or he will always summon ice stalagmites around the building. A
useful trick that I have found while fighting the Minotaurs without Rage of
Titans is that Theseus' single shot iceballs will miss if Kratos moves to
either of the sides while attacking (constant [] taps), so you can attack a
Minotaur while moving to the side and not have to worry about the ice shots.

Theseus will eventually fall and hang from the top of the entrance and have a O
button icon over his head. Run over to him once he has the icon over his head
and press the O button from the ground to finish him off.

Action Sequence

Kratos throws his blades into Theseus up above then @PULLS@ him downward
and punches him toward the door. Kratos walks toward him and quickly
impales Theseus with his scepter. After taking the key, Kratos places it
in the door to the building and opens it then shoves Theseus' head
between the doors with his foot and >>SLAMS<< the door multiple times
against Theseus' head then kicks him through the door and grabs the key
again.

Fun Fact: One interesting aspect of this kill animation is that you are not
required to tap the button or finish the sequence at all to finish off Theseus.
If you're like me, however, it's hard to pass up multiple door slams to an
enemy's head. After playing Shadow of Rome and this game, I have become a pure
sadist when it comes to mercy.

Titan Mode

Theseus is much harder on Titan Mode, mainly once he gets on the roof of the
building. Make sure to have level 2 Athena Blades for this battle - level 2
Typhon's Bane will not help out at all since it only adds rapid fire and
another useless ability for this battle.

When you are fighting him on the ground, get used to his attacks and block them
(3-hit combo, upward slash, stab). Try to break his counter grab each time -
the counter take minimal damage even on Titan mode, so it's no big deal if you
miss it a few times. Hit him with the combo [], /\ each time that you block
one of his attacks and you have a good chance of knocking him down. Stay on
top of him with [] attacks the entire time that he is grounded and do not let
up until he gets up. His ice stalagmite attacks are nearly instant death on
Titan mode, so you MUST avoid them.

Once he gets on top of the building, fire off your Typhon's Bane arrows and
make sure that the combo gauge on the side of the screen is rising (that means
that you are hitting him). Fire off arrows until the Minotaurs arrive.
Immediately run up and start to attack one of the Minotaurs with Plume of
Prometheus, but back off as it starts to walk. It is really a good idea to use
your Rage of the Titans to remove one from the battlefield immediately through
the use of [] attacks; otherwise, stand at a distance and use constant Plume of
Prometheus attacks to knock them back. Make sure to grab a Minotaur once the O
button icon appears above them and kill them for some extra blue orbs that you
can use once the two of them are dead. Make sure that you pay attention to
what the Minotaur is doing (as well as his companion and Theseus) before you
rush into him blindly with the finishing blow. Just because one of them has an
icon over their head that doesn't mean that they won't still wipe the floor
with you.

The second battle can get very hard since you must watch the Minotaurs' attacks
and Theseus' ice shots and stalagmites. Make sure to roll from Theseus'
attacks. For the Minotaurs, roll away whenever they try to perform any type of
attack except for their ram. When both of them ram, make sure to hold down on
guard until you hear the full two blocking clangs or they might hit you. The
second battle is all about maintaining yourself throughout the course of the
long battle. Stay focused and remember that the battle is very doable - it is
just LONG! Memorize the Minotaurs' attacks and be sure to roll from each one
of Theseus attacks.

Kratos will acquire the **HORSE KEEPER'S KEY** after the battle. Don't go
through the door just yet after the battle. Walk over to the right side of the
current platform and move down the steps then climb down the wooden wall to
find --2 UMARKED CHESTS-- at the bottom. The chest on the right contains a
++GORGON EYE (8/?)++.

Climb back up and use the Horse Keeper's Key to unlock the doors where the
brutal boss kill took place. Walk inside and take note of the --RED CHEST--
and --REPLENISHER CHEST--. Examine the book on the back pedestal if you want
then walk up the corridor on the right side. Climb the ladder and open the
--RED CHEST-- in the back of the walkway. Move toward the middle portion of
the area and jump on top of the high platform to open yet another --RED CHEST--
at the top. Jump and slide across the overhead rope. This will take you back
to the first locked door that you came to.

Use the Horse Keeper's Key to unlock the doors. Walk inside and place the
Horse Keeper Key into the emblem on the middle pedestal in the back of the room
for a cutscene that will result in Kratos gaining **CRONOS' RAGE**. Try out
your new power on the Guardians that attack. This magic places an electric
sphere in the area that will send out electricity to stun nearby enemies.
Cronos' Rage is excellent for crowd control and placing a constant hurt on
enemies. Now that you have two magic attacks, you will need to cycle through
them with D-pad (Directional pad) to select each one.

Walk out of the room through the left exit and climb the ladder outside.
You'll notice a save point up above and to the right. Go up the walkway that
leads to the save point and run to the right side to find an --UNMARKED CHEST--
on the far right walkway containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (5/?)++. Walk back
toward the middle and open the --RED CHEST-- on the high platform near the save
point. Walk around the left side and move down that walkway that leads to the
front of the steeds.

Front of the Steeds

A narrow path will lead you to a platform with four colored levers. Take a
moment to survey the area and go ahead and climb the wall to the left. Pull
yourself up then drop down the set of platforms to the right and open the
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (9/?) on the snout of the steed.
Walk back up to the middle head portion of the steed and take note of the
device with glowing green beams powering it. There is also a Harpy on top.
This Harpy will help you to get to the other steeds once activated. Climb back
down the wall and walk back over to the four colored levers.

STEEDS OF TIME PUZZLE

(Note: Even though the on-screen icon will show a rotating analog, you only
need to pull each lever to the left.)

GREEN: Grab the green lever and rotate it to the left to make the circular
portion of the green device open on the closest left steed. Quickly climb up
the wall and run toward the section of the green device that opened. Place the
Horse Keeper's Key into the middle of the open portion to break the beam
holding the Harpy in place. The Harpy will fly over to the steeds on the left
side. That Harpy will serve as a grapple point to help Kratos reach the steed
with the blue device on top.

RED: Grab the red lever and rotate it to the left to make the circular portion
of the red device open on the closest steed to the right. Run over to the
first right steed and quickly climb the wooden wall. A few Harpies will attack
at the bottom but you can outrun them by moving up the wall by tapping X while
climbing. Place the Horse Keeper's Key into the device before it closes. The
Harpy on the device will fly over to the right set of steeds and this will
allow you to reach the steed with the yellow device. Take care of the
remaining Harpies surrounding you if they are not dealt with yet.

BLUE: Grab the blue lever and rotate it to the left to make the blue device on
the far right steed open. You will need to quickly climb up the wooden wall of
the first right steed then jump and grapple to the Harpy and swing across to
the far right steed with the blue device. Quickly climb the platform by
jumping up them and place the Horse Keeper's Key into the blue device.

YELLOW: Grab the yellow lever and rotate it to the left to make the yellow
device on the far left steed open. Quickly climb up the wall on the left then
jump and swing on the Harpy to get across to the steed with the yellow device.
Some Harpies will attack along the way, but just ignore them for now and reap
vengeance later.

Once all four devices are activated, return to the middle platform where the
levers were and press R1 to lift the giant middle switch to make the platform
move. Now walk to the front of the platform and press R1 to make an Action
Sequence occur. Rotate the left analog in the directions displayed on the
screen to make a cutscene play.

Action Sequence

Kratos swings his blades then (WHIPS) the right steed, (WHIPS) the left
steed, (WHIPS) the right steed again, @DOUBLE WHIPS@ the left steed, and
finally uses both blades to @WHIP@ both the right and left steed.

The Steeds of Time

Backtrack all the way to the chain that connects the steeds to the island.
Leap off the top of the building where the save point is located. Guardians
and Minotaurs will attack once you land on the platform. Use a little Rage of
the Titans mixed with Cronos' Rage to subdue them. Gaia will tell Kratos to
get back to the island and that his journey has just begun then a gate will
open that will allow you to leave the area. You don't need to use the
suspended rope above the open gate, so climb down the wall below the rope. A
single Guardian will stand at the bottom and attack but nothing major. Cross
the very long chain once again.

8. The Temple of Lahkesis

The Divine Pools

At the end of the long chain, a section of the wall will start to crumble and
form a climbable portion. Climb over to the right and attack the one section
of the wall that refuses to fall then move over a little more and pull yourself
up to the floor above. Move around the walkway and save your game.

Walk into the waterfall area and Kratos will be attacked by a new enemy. These
Fire Nymphs will shoot fireballs while flying around and will actually explode
while dying if you happen to kill them with physical attacks. Grab a Fire
Nymph out of the air with the grab button and Kratos will tear off a wing from
the creature and throw it at the currently targeted enemy on the screen. This
is an instant kill for the grabbed Nymph and causes some good damage to the
others.

If you look toward the waterfall directly ahead, you will notice a cracked door
behind the waterfall. Walk over to the area below the door and jump then hit
it to destroy it and reveal a hidden --RED CHEST--. Jump up the platforms on
the right side and make your way to the torch at the top. Leap across to the
right platform and walk to the end to find another --RED CHEST-- hidden by the
camera. Hop back over to the left platform with the torch then jump to the
side with the broken railing across from the current ledge.

The Ruined Wall

Move around the side of the walkway and jump on the side of the broken rough
wall. Climb to the left while on the wall and jump across to the next section
of wall then drop to the floor on the left side. Walk around the side to find
a --RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- next to a group of pillars. There is
another --UNMARKED CHEST-- on the far left side that contains a ++GORGON
EYE (10/?++.

Move back to the right while on the wall and jump back across then climb
downward (slide) to the rock floor below. Run over to the right side after
getting off the wall to find another climbable wall. Follow this wall to the
right, then down and then to the left. Transition to the ceiling then move
further to the cracked wall on the left side. Break the crack wall by hitting
it to reveal another --UNARKED CHEST--. Climb over to the chest and open it to
collect a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (6/?)++. This should extend your magic gauge if
you've been collecting them all up to this point.

Climb all the way back to the rock platform above then walk around the left
side. A few Fire Nymphs will attack so get your pitching arm ready. Move
around the far left side of the doors to see a --RED CHEST--. Walk up to the
doors and kick them with R1 to get inside of the building.

Statue Room

STATUE OF LAHKESIS PUZZLE

Run toward the path leading to the big statue of Lahkesis. The pressure switch
near the entrance will make the statue lower both of its arms, so we'll have to
get something to set on it, right? Not exactly. Jump off either side of the
bridge leading up to the statue. Run to the middle and move toward the camera
angle to find --2 UNMARKED CHESTS--. The left chest contains a ++GORGON
EYE (11/?)++ and the right chest contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (7/?)++.

The pressure switch will raise pillars on both side that lead back up to the
bridge below, but yet again there is nothing to place on it. The switch in the
back left portion of the bottom floor is used to lower the gate in the back but
some unfortunate soul got impaled under the gate so it won't lower. Walk over
to the large pot in the middle of fountain that is across from the two hidden
chests and grab the handle on the back of it then pull it all the way back to
reveal a hidden water hole below the pot. Jump into the water and swim through
the tunnel. Use R1 to gain a burst of speed in order to break the already
cracked rock seal with the face.

Surface on the other side then hop out to the room in the back of the gate.
Walk over to the statue and press R1 to make Kratos gently take the **AMULET OF
THE FATES** from the statue's hand. This amulet will allow the bearer to slow
time at an incredible rate when held up toward a flashing green stone such as
the one on the Fate Statue that held it. Hold L1 and press R1 to make Kratos
hold the amulet toward the statue and freeze time. Keep in mind that this will
only work while in the presence of a flashing green stone. Jump back into the
water and swim through the tunnel back to the other side. Gaia will mention
the use of the Amulet of the Fates upon surfacing on the other side.

Stand on the pressure switch behind the pot that you moved earlier to make the
pillars along the side rise up. Use the Amulet of the Fates to slow down time
then jump to the top of the second pillar on the right side. Jump and hit the
top portion of the seemingly unbreakable insignia on the right wall next to the
second pillar to break it and reveal an extremely well hidden --UNMARKED
CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (12/?)++. Make your way back to the pressure
switch and slow time again while standing on it then jump up the pillars and
climb back up to bridge once again. Run back over to the other pressure switch
near the entrance and stand on it so that the statue lowers both of its hands.
Use the Amulet of the Fates once again to slow time then quickly run over to
the statue's hands and leap on top of its hands. When time resumes, the statue
will carry Kratos up to its head and a cutscene will activate.

Walk up to the statue head and attack it to make it fall and shatter the glass
window behind it. Before moving through the window, fall to the walkway behind
the statue and open the --RED CHEST-- on the statue's right side and the
--UNMARKED CHEST-- on the statue's left side containing a ++PHOENIX
FEATHER (8/?). Just in case you fall back off the statue once the head is
destroyed, keep in mind that you can climb back up its arms. Jump out the
glass window that the statue head destroyed and leap off the platform outside
to the floor below.

Wraiths will surface from the ground as the statue head begins to threaten
Kratos. Keep in mind that you can use the Amulet of the Fates during this
battle to slow time thanks to the flashing green stone on the statue's
forehead. These Wraiths can be harsh when fought in groups. Make sure that
you watch for their ground attack where they move under the ground and shoot
back up with an uppercut when near Kratos (it's a two hit attack). Be sure to
guard or roll whenever they are about to uppercut then attack them. Grabs work
very well for Wraiths since a grab will send them up into the air allowing you
to combo them or grab them out of the air while on the ground or jump into the
air with them and grab them in the air (backbreaker). Dark Nymphs will join
the battle eventually. These can be grabbed and killed with one hit just like
the Fire Nymphs. They have a very nasty webbing attack that will wrap Kratos
in webs and make him vulnerable to enemy attacks. Be sure to shake the left
analog from left to right to break free.

Fun Fact 1: The statue head can be destroyed early in the battle and the entire
battle mentioned above can be skipped by exiting the area.

Fun Fact 2: Notice the lip movement for the statue's "You cannot change your
destiny, mortal!" phrase. The lip movement is out of synch toward the end of
the phrase every other time the phrase is spoken.

Destiny's Atrium

Once the enemies are defeated, destroy the statue head by attacking it then run
across the bridge up ahead. A cutscene will show the forest path below as it
is blocked off by a barrier from the large statue head's eyes. Open the
--GREEN CHEST-- in view if needed. Walk over to the right side to find an
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (13/?) along with plenty of
breakable vases. Move to the left side and open the --RED CHEST-- that is
surrounded by more breakable vases.

Slide down one of the side ladders or jump below. Upon walking toward the
middle, the doorways will seal off and a Cyclops along with several Boars will
attack. The Boars can be gutted with a single grab and keep in mind that this
grab will cause them to release yellow orbs for your Rage of the Titans meter.
The Cyclops will use the Boars to his advantage and actually grab one, bite its
head off, and toss it at you.

Stay away from the Cyclops by all means since all of his attacks are
unblockable and he will possibly grab Kratos from close range. Roll to the
side whenever the Cyclops is about to hit you and whenever he tosses a Boar.
Use Rage of the Titans and Typhon's Bane and keep all attacks focused on the
Cyclops. The Plume of Prometheus combo ([], [], /\) will stagger the Cyclops,
but it doesn't always work so don't put full faith into it as he continues to
get closer. Once the icon appears above him keep in mind that the first O
button attack will not kill him. Each Cyclops requires two O button attacks,
but thankfully they will release green orbs with each O button attack. Two
more Cyclops will appear after the first one is defeated. Make sure to roll
often and cancel an attack if one gets too close.

Use the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- to the left side after the battle if needed. The
left path with the fire-spitting face will not be of any use at the moment
since you'll need a special item found later in the game in order to go that
way. Climb either of the ladders closest to the giant statue head.

GIANT STATUE HEAD PUZZLE

Wreck all the vases on the right side at the top of the walkway for some extra
orbs. Pull the statue with the shield out of the alcove against the side wall.
The walkway that you just stepped off of is raised a bit higher compared to
this lower area with the statue so you can't push the statue up on the walkway.
Pull the switch directly across from the statue to make the platform up ahead
lower. Push the statue onto that platform then pull the switch again to raise
the platform. Jump and climb up on top of the platform then get behind the
statue, grab it (R1), then kick it off the platform (charge X) so that it flies
up onto the walkway. Push the statue into the small square indention in front
of the large statue head's left eye to reflect the beam back at the eye.

Walk over to the left side and break the vases then find the other statue on
that side. There is also a --BLUE CHEST-- on this side if you need some magic.
Pull the statue out of the alcove and push it over to the other square in front
of the statue's right eye to reflect the other beam back.

A cutscene will play in which the barrier is lowered that leads to the forest.
Jump down and open the --GREEN CHEST-- in front of the forest path and save
your game at the save point before journeying down the path ahead.

9. The Bog of the Forgotten

Hit the dead bodies hanging from the tree branches with jumping /\ attacks for
some extra red orbs. Did those bodies just yell? Keep moving straight ahead
and stay out of the swampy area since falling in the water is instant death. A
cutscene will trigger once you move toward the chests in the back. Keep those
two chests in mind for later! The cutscene will lead into an Action Sequence.

Action Sequence

Kratos is dragged by a mysterious man on horseback further into the
woods. As the man on horseback makes a turn, Kratos must [SWAY] to the
left to avoid hitting a concrete wall. Kratos notices the rider is about
to hit a dead tree, so Kratos quickly [SWAYS] to the left once again to
avoid impact with the trunk. The man aims with his bow and shoots a
smaller tree but Kratos quickly (SWAYS) to the right to avoid it. Kratos
uses the chain to pull himself closer to the horse then [ATTACKS] the
horse with his blades making the stranger release orbs to replenish
Kratos' life gauge.

BOSS: BARBARIAN KING

Attacks:

Horse Ram: The Barbarian King's horse rears up on its hind legs then races
toward Kratos and the horse rams him then the Barbarian smacks Kratos with his
mallet.

How to avoid: Roll before the horse reaches Kratos. The roll has to be
performed a bit early.

Hammer Smack: The Barbarian King hits Kratos with his mallet.

How to avoid: Roll/Move away from him.

Arrow Shot: The Barbarian King fires a single arrow at Kratos.

How to avoid: Block or roll away from the arrow.

Arrow Shots: The Barbarian King's horse stands in place as the Barbarian
Commander fires several arrows around the area.

How to avoid: Block. Don't roll so you don't accidentally roll into an arrow.

It's good to have Chronos' Rage powered up to level 2 for this battle since it
will be the most helpful magic attack for this battle.

Make sure to roll away from the horse at the beginning of the battle since it
will try to ram you first thing! While the Barbarian is on the horse, watch
for his horse to rear up on its hind legs and race toward you. The ram and
mallet smack that follow are unblockable so you need to roll before the horse
reaches you. The arrows that the Barbarian shoots are blockable, but
everything else isn't.

He starts the battle with several souls surrounding him that will protect him
from harm. Set some lightning spheres around the area with Chronos' Rage when
close to the Barbarian and attack him with some quick [] attacks. One good
idea is to set one up right when he starts to charge you then roll out of way
while he dashes straight into the lightning sphere. The souls around him will
release blue orbs while they scatter away from him, so don't worry too much
about magic. While attacking the Barbarian at close range, watch for his horse
to rear up on its hind legs then make sure to roll out of the way as the
Barbarian performs his hammer swing - that's always the signal to roll. When
the O button appears above him, start the Action Sequence move to quickly get
rid of his horse.

Attacks (on foot)

Two-Hit Swing: The Barbarian King swings his hammer twice while stepping toward
Kratos.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

Ground Pound: The Barbarian King pounds the ground with his hammer and creates
a small shockwave.

How to avoid: Jump or roll.

Hammer Swing Summon: While the Barbarian King is summoning the Dead Barbarians,
the axe swing that summons them can actually hit Kratos.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

Energy Wave: The Barbarian King places his hammer on the ground and stomps on
it creating an energy wave that moves toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or jump.

Once the horse is dead he will start a whole new set of attacks and start to
summon Dead Barbarians to help him out. He will move under the ground and
appear in the middle portion of the platform then start to summon Dead
Barbarians. The Dead Barbarians will usually attack by grabbing ahold of
Kratos and squeezing him to death. Shake the left analog to the right and left
to break free from their hold. They also have a sword attack. The Dead
Barbarians can be killed with a simple grab or will fall within a few attacks.
One of the Dead Barbarians in the third wave looks a bit different than the
others...hmm. If you played the first God of War, you should get the
reference. Kill the captain that appears to get some green orbs instead of
blue.

All of the Barbarian King's attacks are blockable during this phase of the
fight and you will have to block very quickly to escape some of his attacks.
Chronos' Rage is a godsend during this phase since it will help to hit all
enemies on the platform. Grab the Dead Barbarians for one hit kills. The
Barbarian King does not even need to be hit during this phase - all that is
required is that you kill all the Dead Barbarians that he summons.

Fun Fact: Instead of cutting off the legs and cutting off the head of the
captain once grabbed, Kratos will stab him multiple times or toss him to the
ground like the soldiers at the beginning of the game. It's not really that
special or new, but it is interesting.

Attacks (Giant form)

Hammer Swing Combo: The Barbarian King swings his hammer twice then hits the
ground and creates a shockwave. Sometimes he will only perform one swing
before the ground pound.

How to avoid: All of this is unblockable, so roll away from him when he starts
swinging. The shockwave will not hit you, only the hammer pound.

Hammer Swing Combo 2: The Barbarian King swings his hammer to the side then
performs a ground pound.

How to avoid: Roll to the side of him. This is much easier to roll away from
thanks to only swing at the beginning.

Soon the Barbarian King will absorb the souls around the area and grow much
bigger. During this phase all of his attacks are unblockable, so you will need
to hit him sparingly and roll often whenever he performs any attack. He will
always end his attacks with a ground pound so make sure to roll far enough away
or be prepared to jump to avoid the shockwave. His attacks are limited to axe
swings and ground pound combinations so he is very predicable, but you better
be ready to move when he starts swinging. Rage of the Titans really helps out
for this portion of the battle - you'll have to chip away at him sparingly
otherwise.

Attacks (Final Phase)

Home Run Swing: The Barbarian King runs toward Kratos and swings his hammer
toward him. Sometimes he doesn't run, so watch for him to prepare the swing.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

Upward Swing: After blocking enough hits, the Barbarian King swings his hammer
upward at Kratos.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

Soul Attack: The Barbarian King gathers souls in his hammer and shoots them all
toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll (toward him). It is best to run/roll away from him when he
starts to gather souls then roll toward him when he shoots them.

After enough hits, the Barbarian King will release the souls and shrink back
down. He will only keep the energy wave move from the second phase and will
add some new moves to his arsenal. His physical attacks can still be blocked
at this point, but be prepared to roll away from him whenever he starts to
gather souls then roll toward him as he releases them since they are
unblockable. Rolling toward him as he releases the souls will make them fly
right over Kratos and curve downward into the floor. He will also sneak in a
counter attack (upward swing) after he has blocked a few of your hits, so be
prepared to block it when he starts to guard. Very, very rarely, he will sneak
in his energy wave move from the second battle, so be ready to block the energy
wave as he hits the ground with his hammer.

Action Sequence

Kratos jumps onto the Barbarian and grabs his hammer then >>STRUGGLES<<
to break the weapon free from the Barbarian's grasp, and manages to
snatch the weapon and jump away. The Barbarian races toward Kratos but
Kratos [LEANS] the hammer back and smacks the hell out of Barbarian
knocking him to the ground. As the Barbarian starts to get up, Kratos
[LEANS] the hammer back and smashes the Barbarian's head into the
platform and [CLOBBERS] his head once again then [LAYS] the ultimate
smackdown with a third smash to the skull of his foe.

Fun Fact: The Barbarian will pose if the Home Run Swing hits Kratos.

Titan Mode

Phase #1

The first part of the battle can easily be won by simply using Rage of the
Titans along with constant /\ attacks. Don't use any magic during this part of
the battle.

Phase #2

When he starts to summon Dead Barbarians, run up to each one and perform a grab
kill to be invincible to the Barbarian's attacks. Remember that you do not
have to hit him, only kill off his summoned groupies. Keep in mind that all
the Barbarian Commanders moves are blockable during this phase. Hit him a
bunch while he teleports to build up your Rage of the Titans meter.

Phase #3

This is where your heavy hits, magic, and Rage of the Titans come into play.

Stand behind him and do a constant Plume of Prometheus as he starts to grow.
You should be able to get off about three while he is growing, but only the
final hit will probably actually damage him. Watch for the combo indicator to
appear to figure out when your actually hurting him. From then on, you should
run and stay close enough to him to where Cronos' Rage sphere will electrify
him. Set them out constantly until they are all gone. Cronos' Rage must be at
level 2 to fight him this way - if not then you may want to try Typhon's Bane
instead. Inch close to him and wait for him to swing then immediately roll
away and activate Rage of the Titans. As soon as his hammer hits the ground,
start performing /\ strikes into him with Rage of the Titans activate and that
should end this phase. Kratos is invincible during the spinning part of the /\
attack, so he will not get damaged if the Barbarian is attacking at that time.

Another way that I have found requires a bit of luck. You can sometimes stand
behind him as he grows and keep performing Plume of Prometheus when he starts
to attack, but he must perform his single hammer swing followed by a hammer
pound. Whenever he does this move, he will not turn, and that is what you can
really take advantage of. All you really need to do is hit him with about four
full Plumes of Prometheus then Cronos' Rage (level 2) should do the rest. In
other words you won't need Rage of the Titans.

Phase #4

Block his hammer swing then attack him. Whenever he starts to draw in souls,
roll away; once he releases the souls, roll toward him. Plume of Prometheus
will kill him the quickest, but you should only hit him with this attack when
he is readying his soul attack. If he ever starts to guard, make sure to block
his counter uppercut.

You will gain the **BARBARIAN HAMMER** as the boss battle ends. While basking
in the glory of the ultimate ownage displayed upon his age-old rival, a group
of Dead Barbarians will appear to challenge Kratos again directly after the
battle. Use this chance to get the feel of this new weapon. Kratos cannot
roll while you have the Barbarian Hammer equipped. Walk over to the shiny
branch that is hanging above the swamp and grapple to it then swing across. Be
careful since you will fall in the swamp if you walk too close to the edge
directly across from the shiny branch (strangely, it's the only side of the
platform that will allow you to walk off)

While moving along the path on the opposite side find the single skeleton
hanging from a branch up in the trees and destroy it for a few extra red orbs.
Keep moving down the path ahead and gut the Boars along the way. You'll
eventually enter a new area.

Temple of Euryale

The Gorgon face up ahead will shoot green rays that will turn you to stone if
you approach it. Nothing can be done with it at the moment. The left path
will only take you to a locked door and you'll need Euryale's Key to unlock it.
Take the right path to the find a save point close by along with a --GREEN
CHEST--. Hop along the platform pieces up ahead and hop over to the other side
of the path. A cutscene will play once you walk into the open area.

Approach the body in the background and take **EURYALE'S KEY** from it. Beast
Lords will spawn from the ground and attack after taking the key. Watch for
their blade arms to glow then quickly block or dodge to the side as they
attack. You could easily grab them to death; otherwise, use Plume of
Prometheus ([], [], /\) and Chronos' Rage to keep them down on the ground or
stunned. They have a higher tendency to block then other enemies you have
faced thus far.

Run back to the Gorgon face. Skeletons will form from the bones on the ground
and attack. These enemies are not too bad, though they can be aggressive in
groups, but they do not block at all. Make sure that you finish them off with
a O button finish or at least fully destroy them when the icon appears since
they will quickly break apart and reform with full health if you don't. Take
the left path this time. Another skeleton will attack near the dead body.
Walk over to the hidden alcove across from the locked gate and find the --RED
CHEST--. Use Euryale's Key to unlock the gate.

As you move through the doorway, find the --UNMARKED CHEST-- in the right
alcove and open it to collect a ++GORGON EYE (14/?)++. Find the --GREEN
CHEST-- along the side of the building ahead then follow the path around the
side.

The Ruins of the Forgotten

A cutscene will introduce you to the Cyclops Berserkers and another Beast Lord.
The Beast Lords can call Cyclops Berserkers into some of the areas while using
their horn then climb on top of the Cyclops and ride them. While a Beast Lord
is controlling a Cyclops, the Cyclops' attacks will become incredibly
aggressive. Always take the time to dismount the Beast Lord rider by tapping
the O button next to the Cyclops and rotating the left analog to pull off the
Beast Lord. The Beast Lord will constantly try to get back on the Cyclops so
you will always need to dismount them once again. After dismounting the Beast
Lord, attack aggressively with Plume of Prometheus to keep him grounded then
use Cronos' Rage to keep him in one spot while you continue to attack. You can
also simply throw a Beast Lord to death with constant grabs.

The Cyclops Berserker is not as bad without a rider on top. He will attack
mainly with an unblockable two-hit combination, and will turn to face you with
each strike so make sure to roll all the way away from him when he attacks.
Notice how the Cyclops will always growl before launching an attack - that is
your cue to prepare to dodge when he moves toward you. Wear the Cyclops
Berserker down then use the grab button to finish him off in an Action
Sequence. Kratos will actually tear the eye from the beast. Collect 20 of
these Cyclops eyes to unlock a bonus outfit. Keep in mind that you can only
collect Cyclops eyes from this particular type of Cyclops only!

Two more Beast Lords will appear from the ground and they will summon more
Cyclops with their horns. You can limit the amount of Cyclops during these
type of battles by quickly hitting the Beast Lord that is blowing the horn to
shut him up and thereby cancel the Cyclops summon. These types of battles can
get out of control easily later in the game if you don't take measures in
stopping the horn blow of the Beast Lord.

Use the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- to the side if needed then walk past the broken
pillars of the building to the left. The building will start to move as you
make your way to the back - it won't fall in the swamp so don't worry. Grab
the block and pull it out of the doorway. You can't do anything with it right
now, but go ahead and push it to the far left side with the broken pillars to
set it up for later. Open the gate through the doorway and move down the
corridor ahead. Don't shatter the block that you come across! Stand on that
block then jump and use /\ attacks to hit the suspended block in the air to the
left of the block that you're standing on. The block will break open and an
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (9/?)++ will drop. Shatter
the other block to reveal a --RED CHEST--.

Run down the left path at the intersection and fight off the Sentries that way.
At the dead end, you'll come across a --RED CHEST-- and a --BLUE CHEST--. Go
back the other way and fall into the pit in the cave ahead. Fight off the Fire
Nymphs and Wraiths then attack the middle rock column to make it shatter. Grab
the Nymphs and throw them at the Wraiths. The top stalactite piece will form
into a grapple point so Kratos can swing across the pit. Open the --GREEN
CHEST-- to the side before swinging across if needed. Once you grapple, you
will notice that this swing is a bit different than previous swings in that
Kratos will swing in a circle. Wait until he swings toward the other side then
press the X button to jump off.

Swing on the next few stalactites to get across the swampy water below in the
section ahead. You'll need to jump and grapple to the second grapple point
from the first. Climb the ladder on the right side once you land and move
across the vine at the top. Sentries will attack as you move across. An
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (15/?)++ and a --RED CHEST-- lie
in wait on the opposite side.

Drop back down and hop across the large tree stumps in the swamp. Be sure to
hop across the last few quickly since some Fireball Fiends will start to hurl
explosive fireballs at you. Run over to the two side pillars that the Fiends
stand on and break them with attacks to make the enemies fall. Use R1 to grab
ahold of the middle pillar once the first few enemies are taken care of and
Kratos will toss it to the side after tapping R1 and L1 a few times. Fight off
the Fiends and watch for their explosive fireballs. These enemies are prone to
grabs so make sure to take advantage of that and take the battles to the air a
bunch. All of their moves including their fireballs can be blocked without
taking damage. They actually have a unique death animation if you kill them by
hitting them without grabs where their top half will crawl after Kratos and
explode - this can be blocked as well.

Jump on top of the section of the broken pillar and hop up to the floor above.
Scope out the --RED CHEST-- and the --GREEN CHEST-- hidden in the side alcoves
after hopping up to the next floor. Continue along the path and open the
--BLUE CHEST-- that you'll come across toward the end if needed. Jump into the
circular room below.

WATERWAY PUZZLE

Step on the pressure switch in the middle of the room to see that it opens the
middle gate halfway. While standing on the pressure switch, hold L2 to target
using Typhon's Bane and Kratos will automatically lock onto the vine-covered
wall behind the treasure chest to the right. Shoot the vines and a grapple
point stalactite will be revealed up above the chests that Kratos can grapple
onto to reach the --2 UNMARKED CHESTS--. The left chest contains a ++GORGON
EYE (16/?)++.

Walk over to the back right side and pull the switch. This will open the gate
on the right side. Break the walls on both sides to reveal a hidden waterway.
Two Fireball Fiends will attack as you break open the wall leading to the right
section of the waterway. There is a dead body lying by the right waterway and
another pressure switch on the left side. Both pressure switches have to have
something on them in order to open the middle door. You can't put the body on
the middle pressure switch and stand on the left switch or you won't have time
to make it through the door.

HINT: Watch the waterway on one side to see some human remains float by then
walk over to the other side to eventually see those same human remains float by
once again.

Still don't get it? The waterways are connected. Place the human body in the
water of the right waterway and it will float down that waterway. Run over to
the left waterway and wait for the body to float by then grab and place it on
the pressure switch on the left side. Now, stand on the middle pressure switch
to make the middle gate open. Quickly run through the gate before it closes.

Save your game at the save point and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed. A
battle will be waging in the background as you approach the area ahead. Jump
on the first big gear in the swamp water and push the lever upward and then in
a clockwise rotation so that the gear moves up the chain and over to the next
gear. Sentries will eventually appear on the gear and attack. Use Cronos'
Rage to keep them shocked then go back to pushing the lever. Hit them with []
hits to kill them off if they try to hit you, but be forewarned that they will
continue to respawn. Quickly leap toward the next gear as the current one
moves close to it and push the lever in a counterclockwise motion. Use Cronos'
Rage once again to keep the Sentries stunned. Jump to the third gear once you
reach it then hop over to the land on the other side of the swampy river.

Run up the path and walk toward the mysterious rock in the background. This is
actually not a rock at all but a Rock Minotaur.

BOSS: ROCK MINOTAUR

Attacks:

Ground Pound: The Rock Minotaur hits the ground with both hands then
aggressively pounds the ground in front of him.

How to avoid: Roll or move away.

Lariat: The Rock Minotaur holds out its arms and spins in place.

How to avoid: Roll or move away.

Rock Throw: The Rock Minotaur picks up a boulder and tosses it.

How to avoid: Roll.

Make sure that you use the Athena's Blades while fighting this enemy since you
must roll to escape many of his attacks. Use the Plume of Prometheus ([], [],
/\) attack from midrange and roll away when he begins to attack. Magic doesn't
work too well for hurting him but each magic you have at this point can be used
for extra damage while attacking him. The battle basically boils down to
"attack, retreat, attack, retreat". To get some extra hits in, jump toward him
and hit him just as he ends an attack then finish your attacks while on the
ground. I suggest staying close to him so he will perform his lariat attack
instead of the ground pound (from mid range), since the lariat has more
recovery time allowing you to get in more attacks after the move.

Action Sequence

Kratos latches onto the beast with one of his blades then [SPINS] him
around and slaps him with the other blade. Kratos runs up the Minotaur's
back then jumps and [PLUNGES] both of his blades into the beast's back.
Then [LEAPS] to the beast's chest and [STABS] the Minotaur with both
blades making the giant crash to the ground.

Use the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- to the left side if needed then walk over to the
shiny tree with the chain on it. Stand in front of it and press R1 to have
Kratos latch both blades into it and pull it down to make a bridge up to the
ledge above. Walk up the tree trunk and start to climb the vines on the side
of the wall. Climb around the side of the wall then get on the platform and
jump then grab onto the vine above. Move across the vine and kick off the
Sentries that attack on your way across.

Hop off the vine once you reach the platform. One of the soldiers that was
seen earlier is now dead. Walk over to the black door with the handle at the
bottom and lift if upward. A Fate Statue holding a flashing green stone will
be behind the door. Don't even try to cross that big gear while it is moving.
Stand in front of the gear and use the Amulet of the Fates to slow time then
move across it safely to the other side.

Hop up to the --GREEN CHEST-- up in the alcove on the other side and open it if
needed. Hang from the ledge with the green chest and move across the ledge to
the small section of broken wall to the right. Pull yourself up once you reach
the small open section in the wall up above the grinder and find the --UNMARKED
CHEST-- in the hidden alcove containing some red orbs.

From the alcove, go ahead and jump to the conveyor belt across from the wall.
Sentries will attack on the conveyor belt and you'll need to move past some
deadly snake eyes that unleash gorgon gazes that will turn you to stone
instantly if caught in the gaze. The Gorgon gazes will stone the Sentries as
well. To get past this part easily, roll through the snake eyes - even if they
are glaring, the glare will not hit you as long as you're rolling. Whatever
you do, don't grab a Sentry to dispose of him since that will take too long.
Cronos' Rage and [] attacks work fine to keep them at bay. Roll to the far end
of the conveyor belt and break the wooden gate with constant attacks.

Grapple to the shiny stalactite beyond the conveyor belt and use it to swing to
the platform ahead. Open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed then break the stone
statues along the side of the wall. The middle statue is hiding a secret
passage. Grab the block behind the middle statue and push it through the other
side of the wall to make it fall to the other side. This will take you back to
the familiar area where you pulled out the stone block quite a while ago.

CONCRETE PLATFORM PUZZLE

You need to get the block that you just pushed out from the wall on top of the
loose platform. If you haven't done so already, push the block that is already
on the platform over toward the side with the broken pillars so that the loose
platform leans to that side. Push the second block on top of the platform and
move it over to the far side closest to the doorway. Grab the first block and
push it over to the doorway as well. Once both blocks are on the far side of
the loose platform next to the doorway the end on the side that with the broken
pillars will lean upward and expose a shiny piece. Hop off the platform and
press R1 to grab the shiny piece then tap the O button to have Kratos lift the
platform and push it into the swamp.

Jump over to the roof of the platform in the swampy water then hop over to the
steps on the far side. Climb the wall up ahead and move to the left. Destroy
the branches on the left side then jump and grab onto the next section of the
wall on the left. Fall down to the rock ground and enter the cave to the side.

Move around the side and make a left then hop up the raised area past the
rotating gear. Destroy the stone Minotaur for a few red orbs then approach the
wounded soldier up ahead and examine him for a cutscene. A Gorgon Assassin
will attack after the cutscene, and this type is not just your normal Gorgon.
They have a powerful stare gaze that will stone you instantly if it hits.
Watch for them to hold back their glowing head and charge the gaze then quickly
roll to avoid the gaze. As long as you roll in some direction during the gaze,
it will not hit you. The Hammer works very well for these enemies since they
can't dodge it as easy, but you can't roll away from their stares, so keep that
in mind while using it.

Run back and grab the injured soldier (R1). The left turn down the path ahead
will only lead to a dead end for the moment, so continue along the main path.
As you can see through the vines, it appears that Jason isn't faring so well
against the Dark Cerberus on the other side. Continue to the left side and
you'll run across a conveyor belt leading to a grinder. Place the injured
soldier on the conveyor belt. Attack the grinder gear after the soldier is
ground up to destroy them.

Don't go that way just yet though. Follow the path around the corner up ahead
to find --2 UNMARKED CHESTS--. The right chest contains a ++PHOENIX
FEATHER (10/?)++. Walk back to the conveyor belt and hop over the small gears
at the end of the conveyor belt. Use the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- if needed then
lift open the gate. Walk toward the Dark Cerberus for a cutscene.

BOSS: DARK CERBERUS

Attacks:

Claw Strikes: The Cerberus strikes Kratos twice with its claw. It will
sometimes add in a headbutt for the second attack.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

Headbutt: The Cerberus will run toward Kratos and ram him with its head.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

Flames: The Cerberus will breathe fire from all three mouths and make it sway
around the area in front of it.

How to avoid: Block or roll away. Don't roll while you're already blocking the
attack or it will hit Kratos for sure.

Fireballs: The Cerberus will shoot out several fireballs from its middle head.

How to avoid: Roll or move away.

Claw Pound: Mid-battle, the Cerberus will pound the ground and create a minor
shockwave in front of it.

How to avoid: Block or roll.

The Dark Cerberus is a very ferocious and agile beast, but most of its attacks
can be blocked, even the flame. Make sure to dodge away whenever it starts to
shoot fireballs. The fireball attack is long range, so just watch for the
Cerberus to ready the attack. Never attack too aggressively since you will
constantly need to block. This boss can only be staggered very rarely, so you
will almost always have to watch for its attacks while attacking it.

Both magic spells work all right for the boss, but neither of them really
stands out as all that helpful. Typhon's Rage works well for when it starts to
shoot fireballs though. A cutscene will eventually play where the Dark
Cerberus' middle head will eat Jason's arm thereby consuming the Golden Fleece.
It will start to use a new claw pound attack during this time, but the attack
can be blocked.

This battle mainly requires patience while attacking along with some quick
reflexes for guarding its attacks. I wouldn't recommend performing anything
outside of [] attacks, not even Plume of Prometheus since this enemy is so
vicious that it will easily attack during any type of recovery on your end.
Once the O button icon appears, start the Action Sequence to put a quick end to
the beast. The action sequence requires no button taps this time, just
activation through the O button.

Kratos will gain the **GOLDEN FLEECE** after finishing off the Dark Cerberus.
In order to get out of this area, pull the switch on the right side to make the
head on the wall shoot fireballs. Stand in the black area in the middle of the
arena and tap L1 right before a fireball hits Kratos to deflect a fireball back
at the head on the wall. It's all about timing.

Walk out through the hole in the destroyed wall. Some of those Gorgons from
earlier will attack once you step out of the arena. The Golden Fleece can
reflect Gorgon stares also, so press the L1 button right as they release a
stare then press the required button that appears on the screen to reflect the
stare and stone them. This will stone multiple Gorgons or enemies if more than
one is on the screen. This can be a bit risky though, but the deflection for
the stare seems much easier than deflecting a fireball. Deflect their stares
then hit them with your Hammer. Jump back across the raised platforms up ahead
then destroy the large gear that has now stopped on the left wall to reveal a
tunnel with an --UNMARKED CHEST-- that contains a ++GORGON EYE (17/?)++.

Run all the way back to the area with the platform that Kratos pushed into the
swamp. Jump on the platform and the camera angle will now show the strip of
land to the side with the crows feasting on the fallen soldier. Jump to that
strip of land and move down it, toward the camera angle. Hop along the
platforms and save your game at the save point. Your main destination is to go
back to the door with the Gorgon face on the front of it, but you should go
past it for now and head down the other side. We need to perform some
backtracking to get back to the area with the conveyor belt and the snake eyes
with Gorgon stares if you want some extra items.

SNAKE EYES PUZZLE (OPTIONAL)

Make a left at the Gorgon door and move past the doorway where you used
Euryale's Key. Follow the path beyond it until you come to the area where you
pushed the platform into the swamp below. Jump over to the gate on the left
wall above the submerged platform. A few Sentries and Wraiths will attack in
the room ahead. Swing back across the pit then swing on the next few grapple
points to move past the swamp in the cave. Hop across the tree stumps in the
swamp and fight off the Fireball Fiends that spawn on the other side along the
way. Stand on the pressure switch in the circular room then quickly run
through the gate once again. Go ahead and save your game at the save point up
ahead. Rotate the gears in the swamp and hop across them.

Walk up the tree branch and climb across the wall. Grab the vine and move all
the way across it. Use the Amulet of the Fates to slow time then move across
the giant gear. Jump over to the conveyor belt with the snake eyes that use
Gorgon stares. Stand in between each set of snake eyes and press L1 followed
by the correct button to reflect the stares back at each set of snake heads.
Each set holds an unmarked chest against the left wall for a total of
--3 UNMARKED CHESTS--. The first chest contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (11/?),
the second chest contains the ++URN OF THE GORGONS++, and the third chest
contains a ++GORGON EYE (18/?)++. Swing across the gap and fall through the
hole in the wall. Take whichever way you want to back to the Gorgon face door.

10. The Temple of Euryale

Stand in front of the Gorgon face door and reflect the Gorgon gaze as it starts
to flow from the eyes to stone the door. You'll need to tap the O button this
time while reflecting the gaze. Attack the door to destroy it then walk down
the stairs inside and open the door at the bottom. Quickly destroy the stone
statues that start to shake in the next room before the Cursed Legionnaires
inside break out of the stone and attack. Open the --GREEN CHEST-- in the
middle of the room if you need a health boost. More Legionnaires will attack
once you move down the right hall. The Golden Fleece's deflecting works very
well for these type of enemies. Deflect their lunging attack then hit [] to
counter with a Revenge attack that will knock them all off of you. Beware
their counter slices as they get up from a knockdown (these attacks can also be
deflected).

Slide down the ladder, or just fall down and a cutscene will show several
Cursed Legionnaires break out of their stone state below and a Hades Minotaur
will join them. If you are good at timing the deflection from the Golden
Fleece followed by a [] attack then that will pulverize this whole room of
enemies. Deflecting a Cursed Legionnaire's lunge attack is not that hard. I
suggest using Rage of the Titans here or Cronos' Rage if you can't get the
deflection timing down. Defeat the Legionnaires first then go for the
Minotaur. A second Minotaur will follow after the first has been defeated.
Open the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- to the side if needed then enter the corridor
through the doorway on the right wall.

Open the --RED CHEST-- in the alcove. A cutscene will play once you near the
lift in the back. Push the handle in a clockwise rotation to lower the lift.
Defeat the Fire Nymphs and throw one toward the snake symbol on the wall to
reveal a hidden alcove with an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX
FEATHER (12/?)++.

LIFT PUZZLE -

The soldier in the cutscene took the handle so you can't very well use the lift
on the other side, but you can rig it so that you can reach the ledge up above
it. Raising the lift that you were just on will lower the other lift, so get
back on the lift you just jumped off of and raise it to the point where Kratos
can just barely walk under the framework at the top. Fall back outside and
turn around to see a hidden alcove on the side of the lift that you just fell
from with an --UNMARKED CHEST-- inside containing a ++GORGON EYE++ (19/?). Get
on top of the lift with no handle and then jump up the ledges on the side of
the wall above it.

Lowlands Vista

Upon reaching the top, a Legionnaire Commander will attack. These enemies
block a bunch and will actually keep their distance as you attack. Watch fore
his counterattack while he blocks and keep in mind that he has quite a long
combo attack, so be ready to block quite a bit whenever he starts to attack.
Keep in mind that you need to press a button during the finishing blow this
time after activating it, unlike the first God of War. Walk toward the save
point in the back and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed. Approach the broken
ladder off to the side and climb up the rough wall above it - the top piece
will fall off. Open the --BLUE CHEST-- near the pillars if needed as you
listen to Euryale's threats coming from a nearby room.

Climb the rough wall off to the left then transition to the ceiling. Climb
across the ceiling and watch for the saw blades as you climb by them. It's
still much better than rotating pillars with blades though, I might add. The
only real semi-hard part is the final three saw blades. Wait for an open spot
between the two that move diagonally then climb into the middle triangle and
move past the final blade when it passes to one side. If a blade hits, it will
automatically kill Kratos, but you will start near the climbable wall at the
beginning of this part.

Drop to the platform below and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed. Rotate the
lever under the snake head clockwise to make the spiked masher on the right
side pull back. Once the masher is pulled back as far as it will go, you will
need to race into the opening of the caged area to the right side and move
quickly down that tunnel as the masher starts to move toward you. Quickly pull
the switch off to the side once you reach the middle portion of the tunnel to
move the pillars on the outside that opens a path to the floor below. Run to
the far end and quickly press R1 then tap the O button to lift the exit gate
and get out of their before it compacts you - it gets extremely close before
the gate opens. Just to let you know, the checkpoint for this area will start
you back on the ledge below the saw blades next to the switch if you die in the
compacter.

Go back and save your game before falling down into the room where the opening
now is. Approach the book next to the stone figure (yes, you can break him)
and examine the book.

Fun Fact: If you don't break the stone figure before examining the book then
Euryale will shatter him in the following cutscene.

BOSS: EURYALE

Attacks (Phase #1):

Gaze: Euryale tilts her head back as it starts to glow red then unleashes her
stone gaze upon Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect.

Horizontal Tail Swing: Euryale stands on her tail then quickly swings it at
Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Tail Swing Combo: Euryale lies on her stomach and swings her tail horizontally
then performs an overhead tail smash.

How to avoid: Block (first swing only), roll, or deflect (first swing only).

Headbutt: Euryale quickly headbutts Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

For starters, all of Euryale's attacks can blocked except for her overhead tail
swing and her gaze. Whenever she lies on her stomach and swings her tail,
always be prepared to roll to the side to dodge the overhead swing that is
coming next. You really need to learn the proper timing for her gaze so you
can deflect it. You'll need to tap the O button during the deflection.
Deflecting her gaze will give you blue orbs and sometimes a green orb.

Attack her with [] attacks and Plume of Prometheus, but always be ready to
guard or deflect as she prepares an attack. Both Cronos' Rage and Typhon's
Bane serve as good magic attacks for this battle and you can always replenish
your gauge by deflecting her gaze. Cronos' Rage is really good for
overwhelming her once you lay out three orbs. It will actually cancel her
attacks.

Attacks (Phase #2):

Gaze Shockwave: Euryale charges a gaze by staring at the floor and eventually
unleashes a shockwave that will turn Kratos to stone.

How to avoid: Double jump over the shockwave.

Gaze Projectiles: Euryale sends out a few projectiles that will turn Kratos
into stone (after two hits).

How to avoid: Roll or deflect.

Euryale Splash: Euryale leaps into the air and lands in the center of the room
creating a shockwave upon impact.

How to avoid: Jump or roll.

Tail Smack: Euryale slaps Kratos with her tail twice while on the pillar.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Eventually she will crawl to one of the back pillars and start a whole new set
of attacks. It is important that you double jump to avoid her gaze shockwave
since a single jump will only turn Kratos to stone and make him shatter when he
falls. The gaze projectile will stone you after two hits in a row, and you
must jump or perform a very well timed roll to avoid her splash. The only
blockable move during this phase is her close range tail smack. Attack her
from the ground (hit the pillar - no need to jump) while she is on a pillar and
use whatever magic you have left until a O button icon appears above her.
Press the O button then perform a clockwise rotation with the left analog to
make her come crashing down off of the pillar. She will get on the other
pillar in the back afterwards, so you will need to wear her down again and drag
her off the pillar once again.

Attacks (Phase #3)

Fists Pound: Euryale raises up on her tail and smacks the ground with a big
punch then performs a smaller punch.

How to avoid: Block (second punch only), roll, or deflect (second punch only).

Gaze Projectiles: Euryale releases gaze projectiles that will turn Kratos to
stone (after two hits in a row).

How to avoid: Roll or deflect.

When both pillar are destroyed she will continue the fight on the ground and
become very aggressive. She will start a new move where she will try to pound
you with her fist. Only the second hit of this move is blockable so avoid the
first by rolling. She will only shoot gaze projectiles instead of performing
her gaze, but the gaze projectiles can be deflected for some extra blue orbs
during this phase - she shoots four at a time, and you will have time to
deflect two if you deflect the first one for double the orb pickup! She will
still perform her normal tail combos and slaps so be on the lookout for them.
Hit her sparingly during this phase with [] attacks and rely mainly on magic
and Rage of the Titans. Once the O button icon appears let 'er rip, literally!

Action Sequence

Kratos grapples onto her stomach with his blades then [GRABS] her head
and slams her down to the ground. He quickly [DODGES] to right to avoid
her fist smash then knocks her head to ground and [GRABS] her head then
stabs it. Kratos gets behind her then >>PULLS<< on her head and leans
forward to slash her throat then continues to tear her head off. Kratos
jumps off the body and holds up his prize.

Titan Mode

Euryale isn't too much of a problem on Titan mode, but you MUST learn how to
avoid her attacks. See the description above for Spartan mode to see how to
avoid each. All of her physical attacks are blockable except for the overhead
tail smash and Euryale splash (from the pillars). Use very little magic on her
throughout the battle, and do not use Rage of the Titans at all.

The main deadly phase is when she jumps to the ground after the two pillars are
gone. At this time, activate Rage of the Titans and lay out three Cronos' Rage
orbs then hit her with endless /\ attacks until the O button icon appears.
This will annihilate her very quickly, so watch for their O button icon then
get ready to finish her off. Rage of the Titans will make Kratos to where he
only take half damage from her ground pounds, so you don't need to worry about
dodging them at this point.

Kratos will gain the **HEAD OF EURYALE** after the epic battle. Now, you must
turn five enemies to stone and shatter them in order to leave this area. Hold
up the Head of Euryale (L2) and use [] to slowly turn the Sentries to stone
then shatter them with one of Kratos' weapons. The gate in the back of the
area will rise once the deed is fulfilled. Make use of the save point before
going outside.

Walk through the doorway and the camera will show you what looks to be one
gigantic puzzle. It isn't that bad though. If you jump into the water, you
can find some pots to break for some red orbs - use the speed boost (Charge R1)
to break them.

COLUMN PUZZLE

COLUMN 1: Rotate the lever by the doorway clockwise to raise the column next to
it. This will send the grapple point on the column high into the air. You may
have noticed the Fate Statue with the flashing green stone off to the side.
Hop over to the switch on the gray platform. Pull the switch to open the gate
at the bottom of the pool then slow time with the Amulet of the Fates (Hold L1
then press R1) and quickly swim through the gate before time resumes.

COLUMN 2: You'll notice a switch to the right as you swim through the gate.
Pull the switch to keep the gate open permanently. Swim to the surface then
jump on top of the middle platform and rotate the lever clockwise to raise the
next column into the air. Jump back down into the water and find the switch
next to the big iron gate below. Pull the switch and quickly swim through the
first gate that opens then charge R1 and perform a charged swim under the
second gate directly ahead. If the second gate closes too quickly then swim
down the right tunnel and make your way back to the switch for another try.

(Column 3 will be accessed after the others)

COLUMN 4: Swim to the top and stand on the middle platform. Break the cracked
wall to the left to reveal an --UNMARKED CHEST-- with a ++GORGON EYE (20/?)++
inside. Rotate the lever clockwise to raise the third column into the air.
Swim over to the gate on the right side at the bottom of the pool and perform a
charged swim right through the gate to break it and get to the other side.

COLUMN 5: Break the pots at the bottom of the pool for some extra red orbs then
swim to the surface and jump up to the middle platform. Rotate the lever to
make the fourth column rise into the air. Pull the switch off to the side to
open the gate above - it stays open.

Walk down the hall through the doorway to the side. Ignore the path to the
right at the moment and climb the ladder. Walk toward the camera angle and
open the --2 RED CHESTS-- against the back wall. Step on the big pressure
switch in behind the two bird statues - this will make the wall open to reveal
a ladder below just in case you fall from here. As you can see, the Fate
Statue with the flashing green stone is in the background as you step toward
the ledge and this will allow you to slow time from this ledge. Go back down
the ladder and enter the corridor to the right that I said to ignore earlier.

Fun Fact: A quicker way down is to swing on the first column then jump to the
next and swing to the lower room of the area where the third column should be.

You'll notice that the room has a lever and Fate Statue with a flashing green
stone. This column will not stay up once raised, so you will need to slow time
in order to get back to the top of the ladder before it lowers. As you begin
to rotate the lever the first time, a Juggernaut enemy will spawn from the
ground. These enemies look hard, but they have one fatal flaw - they're slow as
hell. All of their attacks are blockable so you don't even have to roll away
from them while they attack. Keep in mind they will sometimes add a second
overhead attack to the first morning star overhead attack. Just wait for the
Juggernaut to attack and counter with combos while he recovers. Both the
Hammer and the Athena's Blades work well for this enemy. Even though this
enemy may appear easy, he will become harder later in the game.

Fireball Fiends and two more Juggernauts will appear once the first Juggernaut
has been dealt with. Use Cronos' Rage to keep the Fireball Fiends occupied.
The Head of Euryale works well for stoning the Juggernauts if they become too
troublesome with the group. Stone them and break them with a few hits - Plume
of Prometheus' final hit will always break a stoned enemy.

COLUMN 3 (Final): Rotate the lever clockwise then quickly slow time with the
Amulet of the Fates. Climb the ladder and stand on the ledge, but wait for
time to resume if it hasn't yet. Once time resumes, slow time once again with
the Amulet of the Fates.

Grapple to the first column and swing then grapple to the second column. Swing
and grapple to the third column. The third column is the one that is timed so
just make it past this column and there is no need to rush after that. Swing
and jump to the fourth column. Be sure to time the jump well when leaping to
the fifth column since the middle wall will be in the way. Keep swinging on
the fifth column once you grapple to it and look toward the alcove to the
right. Time your swing and jump to that alcove to find a --RED CHEST-- along
with an --UNMARKED CHEST-- that contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (13/?)++. Walk
back to the ledge facing the column and press R1 to easily latch back on to the
column then swing toward the open gate up ahead.

Open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed then move down the corridor ahead. Walk
over to the switch in the back and pull it. The doorway will seal off from
behind. Hounds will fall down from the ceiling, and the floor will start to
rise. Well, damn. Quickly start to fight the Hounds off with your Athena's
Blades - use [] swings or Plume of Prometheus. You need to finish all of these
enemies before the platform reaches the ceiling. If not, then you will likely
die. Using kicks with the grab button works well, but if you accidentally grab
a weak Hound and start the kill sequence then that will delay you quite a bit
in your bloodshed.

When the platform reaches the top, it looks as if it is all over for Kratos but
he quickly grabs the ceiling and you must tap the O button in order to push the
platform back down. The gate in the back will start to open slightly with each
platform push. Two more Hounds fall from the ceiling and attack. Quickly
fight them off - use Cronos' Rage if it comes down to it. Just in case one is
still alive with full life when Kratos is about to be compacted, kick the Hound
away quickly then start the Action Sequence to push the platform back down.
Having a Hound alive when you start the animation doesn't always end in instant
death, but it can if the Hound attacks during the Action Sequence. After
pushing the platform down three times, the gates will open just enough for
Kratos to squeeze through them.

Fun Fact: Stand and listen as the platform moves up to here the squeals of the
remaining Hounds as they get compacted.

Destroy the wooden framework and containers along the wall for some extra orbs
then fight off the few Harpies that attack. Carefully move across the small
wooden beams up ahead. Jump to the small ledge on the right wall and climb
across to the other side. Jump and climb up the rope to the left to find a
--RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (14/?)++
in the hidden area at the top. Climb back down the rope and open the
--REPLENISHER CHEST-- to the side if needed. Walk toward the rock pile in the
back of the cave.

This Rock Minotaur fights the exact same as the last one, only this time
Harpies will attack along with him. The Harpies are actually helpful in a way.
Whenever the Rock Minotaur prepares to throw a rock, grab a Harpy and Kratos
will be invincible to the rock throw during the wing tearing animation. Keep
in mind that you can guard against their dive bomb attacks. This battle is
going to take a bit more patience than the last battle since the area is small
and the Minotaur will not step out from in between the two rock piles on the
right and left side.

Hit him sparingly with [] attacks from Athena's Blades and be sure to roll away
when he starts to pound the ground or perform his lariat. The ground pound is
easily the most annoying move in this battle since rolling backward once is
sometimes not enough to escape the attack. Try to stay right next to him while
attacking so he uses the lariat instead of the ground pound. He will perform a
ground pound while you're at midrange from him. When he does a ground pound,
do not try to attack directly after the move; instead, move back and wait for
him to perform a boulder throw then roll directly toward him to escape the
boulder as he throws it and this will position you in front of him without
taking damage. He should perform a lariat for his next attack to which you can
easily roll back once to escape. Keep up a pattern of attacking and rolling
away from the lariat followed by rolling back toward him and attacking. He
will fall shortly with this method. Make sure that you roll toward him when
the lariat FULLY stops to avoid taking damage. Use any of your magic except
for the Head of Euryale (don't even...) for some extra damage. If you have
Rage of the Titans built up then by all means use it!

Continue further into the cave and you'll come upon what appears to have been a
big slaughter. Skeletons will attack as you reach the end of the slaughter
trail. Stone them with the Head of Euryale and shatter them for some very easy
kills. The Head of Euryale works extremely well for Skeletons - remember that.
Run up the circular stairway and pull the switch at the top then continue up
the stairway to return to Destiny's Atrium.

Destiny's Atrium

The first thing you should do now is save your game then head back into the
forest. Remember those chest that were in the background right before the
cutscene played where the Barbarian drug Kratos away? Well, after entering the
Bog of the Forgotten area, you will notice a --RED CHEST-- and a --MEGA RED
CHEST--. These Mega Chest are hidden throughout the game and will grant Kratos
certain powerups. This one will boost his red orb count by about 5000!

Return to Destiny's March and approach the stone face that is shooting the
fireballs that you skipped over earlier. Use the Golden Fleece to deflect a
fireball by tapping L1 right before one of them hits you in order to blow open
the wall and reveal a new path. Hug the right wall and move along the right
ledge to get by the gap. You'll likely notice the --GREEN CHEST-- and --BLUE
CHEST-- hidden behind the cave formation up ahead. Slide down the ladder and
move down the tunnel below.

Two Archers will aim at Kratos as you come upon the outside area. Tear through
them and a Legionnaire Commander along with more Archers will spawn from the
ground up ahead. Take care of the Archers first since the Legionnaire
Commander will only stand and guard most of the time anyway. Destroy the first
three with your blades and use Typhon's Bane to shoot the remaining two on the
platform up ahead.

Use the grapple point to swing to the platform where the set of two Archers
were. Climb up the rough wall on the left side of the platform upon landing to
find a --RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON
EYE (21/?)++ at the top. Use the next few grapple points to swing past the
waterfalls up ahead. A Legionnaire Commander and two Archers will appear on
the other side of the waterfalls. Defeat the two Archers first as usual and
open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed.

11. The Hall of Atropos

Soon a cutscene will play where a Gorgon face will seal off the path up ahead
and Wraiths will appear to challenge you. I would suggest using Cronos' Rage
since these Wraiths can be very deadly when grouped and they will release blue
orbs once defeated. They toss their blade hands at you so be prepared to block
their blade throw. A voice from above will call out during this battle, but
the person cannot be helped at the moment. The statue eyes cannot be bothered
in any way at the moment. Walk over to the save point on the left side then
open the door next to it.

Walk toward the --GREEN CHEST-- and --BLUE CHEST-- up ahead and use them if
needed. The room will seal off up ahead and a High Priest will attack. These
High Priests will conjure creatures until you kill them so always defeat the
High Priests first while fighting this type of enemy. The High Priest will
teleport around the area a bunch and will escape from your attacks if you don't
watch it. Keep in mind that you can block the High Priest's energy
projectiles. Once you start to hit the High Priest use Cronos' Rage to place an
electrical sphere that will put some constant hurt on him and lock him into
place. Keep placing orbs and attacking him until he is finished. More High
Priests will spawn, but as long as you keep constant pressure on them, this
battle will not be that tough. Kratos can perform a counter to the Minotaurs
that are summoned in which he will throw their axe at them. Tap the O button
when prompted to have him counter the Minotaurs. If you run out of magic, grab
the High Priests to death. Tap the O button to fight off their shield once
they are grabbed then leap into the air with them and attack them then grab
them again from the air to finish them off. Kratos is invincible throughout
most of the High Priest grab sequence on the ground, so you can actually spam
grabs to kill a High Priest quickly.

STATUE PUZZLE

Observe your surroundings to find two statues, a lift, and a lever that you can
rotate clockwise to raise the lift. This is a very strange puzzle that has
multiple ways to solve it. Either rig it or perform some well timed jumping
and grabbing.

SOLUTION 1: Push one of the statues onto the lift. Push the other statue right
next to the lever that you will need to rotate, so that it is right next to the
column on the left side of the lever. Pull (don't push) the lever clockwise
and hold it there. Quickly let go of the lever and kick the statue closest to
you up under the lift.

SOLUTION 2: Push one of the statues onto the lift. Push the other statue right
next to lift on the side closest to the lever. Pull (don't push) the lever
clockwise and hold it there. Quickly let go of the lever and run over to the
statue then push it under the lift.

SOLUTION 3: Push one of the statues onto the side of the lift and make sure
that it is on the side closest to the lever. Push the other statue over to the
lift so that it stands beside the statue that is on the lift. Pull (don't
push) the lever clockwise and hold it there. Quickly let go of the lever and
run over to the first statue then jump on top of it. Jump on top of the other
statue while it plummets down with the lift then quickly leap and grab onto the
side of the floor above.

Note: The reason why I say to pull instead of push is so that Kratos will not
have to maneuver past the lever on his way to performing whichever task.

Either way, jump to the floor above. Open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed then
continue down the corridor to the right. You'll witness a battle behind the
bars ahead involving a Minotaur, Griffin Rider, and a soldier. Open the --RED
CHEST-- then climb the ladder to the side. Harpies and eventually Guardians
will attack as you make your way to the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- on the broken
bridge ahead. Rush back and find the stairway hidden by the camera angle on
the right side at the front of the bridge. More Guardians will appear while
you move down the stairs. Enter the hall at the bottom.

Satyrs will appear once you step in the shallow water of the next room. Use
Cronos' Rage while attacking these beasts to take some extra damage from them -
it will stagger them, but they will still guard a bunch. They are quite
vicious and have some long combination attacks. Keep in mind that all of their
attacks can be guarded against. Step up to the stone blocking the entrance and
pull it inward. Do not push it outward yet. Hop up on top of the stone and
open the hidden --UNMARKED CHEST-- up above the doorway to receive a ++GORGON
EYE (22/?)++. Push the stone outward once you open the chest so that the stone
slides and falls to the courtyard below.

Push the stone under the high ladder on the bridge so that you can stand on it
to get up to the ladder. A voice will call out to you once again. Dark Nymphs
will attack in a few places on the bridge. Carefully step across the small
ledge up above to get to the other side of the bridge. Find the --GREEN
CHEST-- on the other side then jump over the shrubbery to the left of the green
chest to discover an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER
(15/?)++. Run over to the door next to the bridge on your current side and
open it then enter the room ahead.

A few Guardians and a Juggernaut will attack. A second Juggernaut will spawn
once the first has been killed. Use Cronos' Rage and Rage of the Titans to
your advantage - the Head of Euryale helps if the Juggernauts get too annoying.
Use the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- on the raised platform if needed then run out
through the doorway to find a save point.

Move across the walkway toward the grapple points up ahead. You will need to
jump off the walkway and grapple to the lowest grapple point while falling.
Jump and swing toward the next grapple point on the side of the building -
Kratos will actually lean against the side of the building while on this
grapple point. Grapple to next grapple point up above then jump and swing to
the walkway with the metal railing. Guardians will hop up from the side of the
area below the walkway and attack. You can slow time while fighting them with
your Amulet of the Fates thanks to the nearby Fate Statue. Move toward the far
edge of the walkway next to the statue.

VINE PUZZLE

As already pointed out, the Fate Statue on the right is holding a flashing
green stone to which you can hold the Amulet of the Fates up to in order to
slow time time. Step on the rock pressure switch (it blend in well with the
floor) to make some vines move out from the bottom of the walkway and form a
bridge that connects all areas ahead to the middle platform. Freeze time while
standing on the switch and run across the first vine. Stop at the middle
platform then fall off the right side of the platform in between the two trees
to find an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (16/?)++. This
middle pressure rock will make the vine from the walkway that you just came
from grow out, so you must stand on the pressure switch then very quickly make
your way back across to the walkway.

Stand on the pressure rock once again on the walkway then slow time with the
amulet. Run across the vine that leads to the middle platform then quickly
turn left and run across the vine that leads to the platform on the left.
Harpies and Guardians will attack on this platform. You can slow time while
fighting them. Stand on the pressure rock on the current platform then slow
time and run back to the center platform. Turn left while on the center
platform and run across that vine to yet another platform. A group of Harpies
and Guardians will attack on this side as well, so slow time and fight them off
quickly. Stand on the pressure rock on this platform to make the vines grow
out once again. Slow time with the amulet then run back to the middle platform
and make a left then run across that vine between the two trees toward the
doorway in the back.

There is a --BLUE CHEST-- and a --GREEN CHEST-- to the side so replenish
yourself fully because there is a big battle ahead. Open the big door to
trigger a cutscene.

BOSS: PERSEUS

This is a unique battle and very fitting for Perseus' character. You have seen
the movie Clash of the Titans haven't you?

Attacks (Invisible):

Sword Slashes: Perseus swings his sword twice (horizontal slash then an upward
slash) while moving toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Stabs: Perseus teleports then runs toward Kratos and performs eight quick
stabs. Watch for the flash of light when he teleports.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Lunging Sword: Perseus moves swiftly around Kratos and slashes him.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Sling Projectiles: Perseus spins his sling and shoots projectiles toward
Kratos one at a time (the number shots vary and sometimes he will shoot three
together).

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect (recommended).

To start things off, he will begin the battle invisible. Thankfully, you are
fighting him in a pool, so just watch for the ripples in the water to see his
footsteps. You can also see a transparent image of him whenever he runs or
performs any type of attack. The image will look much like a shadow in darker
areas and transparent in the sunlight. Find the image of him and attack it.
He will likely teleport to a new area eventually and shout to Kratos. If you
have surround sound hooked up, you can actually take advantage of his shouting
and run in the direction of his voice. Otherwise, just watch for him. He will
make a blue flash in the area wherever he teleports to. Every time he
teleports he will run toward you and perform a series of stabs, so prepare to
block or roll away.

Keep in mind that all of his moves are blockable, so just stand and block if
you are unsure of where he is. Both Cyclone of Chaos (L1 + []) and the final
hit of the [] combo work very well in finding him. Once he has been damaged
enough he will fall and become visible then an icon will appear above him. You
must run up very quickly and press the grab button when the icon appears or it
will quickly disappear and you will need to damage him further. Kratos will
destroy his helmet and Perseus will be visible for the rest of the battle.

Attacks (Visible w/Sword and Shield):

Sword Slashes: Perseus swings his sword twice (horizontal slash then an upward
slash) while moving toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Stab: Perseus holds back his sword then moves in and stabs Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Counter Slashes: Perseus steps toward Kratos with two upward slashes then
performs an uppercut slash to counter Kratos' attacks.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Lunge: Perseus lunges toward Kratos and hits him with his shield.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Sling Projectiles: Perseus spins his sling and shoots projectiles toward
Kratos one at a time (the number of shots vary and sometimes he will shoot
three together).

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect (recommended).

Blinding Light: Perseus holds his shield up toward the light and reflects the
sunlight throughout the area to blind Kratos.

How to avoid: Keep him out of the light. Shake the left analog to the right
and left to break free from the stun.

The battle actually becomes a bit harder once he can be seen. If you don't
stay aggressive against him then his main move will be to step into the light
and blind you with his shield. Watch for him to suddenly step back and that is
the sign that he is about to perform this move. Shake the left analog from
left to right to break free from the stun that the light will place on Kratos.
Keep him busy blocking your attacks and try to keep him in a dark area as much
as you can and he won't have a chance to perform this move. When the button
icon appears again, press the grab button to break his sword.

Perseus is very limited in attacks with only his shield, but he is quite a
defensive player during this phase. You can basically only hit him by knocking
him into a sidewall (right and left walls) - this will stun him and you will be
allowed to freely damage him at this point. Keep in mind the walls at the back
and front of the area will not stun him. You can also hit him as he performs
his blinding shield attack. He will rely mainly on his sling (deflect it) and
his blinding shield attack at this point. Once he has been stunned by knocking
him into a wall, you are free to wail on him as much as you want while he
recovers. When he is close to death, he will stand in the back of the pool
near the pillars. Grab him when the icon appears to launch the action
sequence.

Action Sequence

Kratos shoves Perseus' head into the wall then [YANKS] his head away from
the wall and >< him in the water. Kratos [SHOVES] Perseus into
the wall again then backs away and tosses a blade into his chest then
slams him into the water. To end it all, Kratos throws Perseus through
the wall toward a hook that impales him.

Kratos will receive the **SHIELD OF PERSEUS** after the battle. Walk through
the new hole in the wall that Perseus made. A --GREEN CHEST-- and a --BLUE
CHEST-- will be on the side of the pool if you need refilling. Slide down the
chain and save your game.

GORGON HEAD PUZZLE

If you've been looking around this area previously then you have probably
noticed a statue up above. Walk over to the stone below the ladder and climb
up then move over to the right side of the walkway and jump over the shrubbery.
Break the cracked pedestal that is holding up the statue and place the Shield
of Perseus in the statue's hands. Grab ahold of the handle on either the left
or right side and move the statue over to the broken portion of the bridge
where there is no railing. Push the statue off the side. Jump down below then
push the statue over to the square indention in the wooden platform. Walk over
to the lever in the middle of the area and rotate it clockwise to raise the
platform up into the air. This will reflect the beam of the right statue eye
back at it. Quickly release the lever and climb back up the ladder then stand
facing the statue eye that isn't being reflected and use the Golden Fleece's
deflection by pressing L1. Keep in mind that the platform the statue is on is
timed, so be quick! This will destroy the statue's eyes and open the path
ahead.

12. Outside Atropos

Walk up the steps in the new area then move down the path at the top. You'll
see a big statue up ahead that is pointing (it's actually pointing toward some
chests). The chests down the left path cannot be opened yet since the pressure
switch will close off the doorway leading to them every time that Kratos tries
to move toward them. Walk over to the right path and shoot the Archers across
from you with Typhon's Bane. Use the grapple point over the gap to swing
across to the other side where the Archers were. You could just swim through
the water also. Make a left turn and swim toward the platform with the --BLUE
CHEST-- and --GREEN CHEST-- against the wall. You'll see the chests from
earlier through a gate also.

Take the second right path since a gate is blocking the first pathway to the
right. You'll come upon a broken bridge. Go ahead and jump to the broken
piece and the camera will show the statue up above. If you try to move toward
the two chests on the other side of the bridge the piece that you are on will
lean downward. Move back across the bridge and find the vines on the right
wall (camera angle's right). Climb the vines then transition to the ceiling
followed by the wall again to climb up on the side of the doorway where the
gate that was blocking the first turn is located. Pull the switch off to the
side to open the gate.

Jump down below and enter the area past the gate. Do you recognize that bird?
That is the Dark Griffin that the Dark Rider was on much earlier in the game.
Kratos stabbed the bird with the Dark Rider's spear and it landed here.
Approach the spear and press R1 along with the O button to tear the **SPEAR OF
DESTINY** out of the Dark Griffin. Sentries will appear as if they want you
try your new spear out on them. Don't disappoint them, get used to your new
spear! Keep in mind that you can slow time in this area, thanks to the nearby
Fate Statue.

After defeating the Sentries, walk over to the Fate Statue with the flashing
green stone. Grab the statue and pull it over to the circular area around the
lever. Rotate the lever to turn the statue. Turn the statue so that the
flashing green stone faces the right side of the screen. You will ultimately
push that statue back to where you got it from, but for now push/kick the
statue through the doorway. Move all the way down the ramp and then over to
the pool on the right side. Push it all the way up to the pool then swim to
the other side. Quickly use the Amulet of the Fates to slow time then run all
the way back to the pressure switch at the beginning of the area near the
pointing statue. Move across the pressure switch and open the --3 UNMARKED
CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (16/?)++ (left), the ++URN OF OLYMPUS++
(middle), and a ++GORGON EYE (23/?)++ (right).

BRIDGE PUZZLE

Run back to the statue and push it back up the ramp and through the door.
Place back the statue back in its original spot so that it faces the broken
bridge to the right side. Run all the way back to the broken bridge then stand
on the tilting piece. Stand on the side that makes it tilt upwards to match
the other piece ahead. Use the Amulet of the Fates to slow time then quickly
run and jump to the other side.

Crossing of the Lowlands

Open the --BLUE CHEST-- and --GREEN CHEST-- if needed and save your game at the
save point. Prepare for plenty of grappling and a real high-flying adventure!
Grapple to the first grapple point on the hook between the first set of pillars
to start.

Grapple Point #1

Use a normal swing followed by a jump and grapple to the next grapple point.

Grapple Point #2

Use a normal swing followed by a jump and grapple to the pillar ahead.

Grapple Point #3

Kratos will automatically jump off the pillar as it crumbles and leap toward
the next grapple point.

Grapple Point #4

Kratos will swing around in a circle while attached to this grapple point. The
column will fall shortly so be quick! Make sure to line him up with the
platform in the background then have him jump toward it then perform a second
jump in the air to land on it. The platform will start to fall toward the next
grapple point, so wait until it leans toward it then leap and grapple to the
next grapple point.

Grapple Point #5

Grapple Points #6 and #7 will start to fall directly ahead while you're on this
grapple point. Wait for about two swings then jump and grapple onto #6.

Grapple Point #6

Quickly jump and grapple to #7 during the first swing.

Grapple Point #7

Wait for just a bit then jump and fall down a little then quickly grapple to
the lower grapple point #8.

Grapple Point #8

Kratos automatically swings straight toward the next grapple point from this
one, so get ready to swing to the pillar (#9).

Grapple Point #9

Kratos skips off of this grapple point and jumps back toward the next grapple
point on the wall behind him (#10).

Grapple Point #10

Kratos skips off the wall as it breaks and launches himself toward #11.

Grapple Point #11

He skips off this pillar and jumps to the next pillar across from it (#12).

Grapple Point #12

Wait for the piece of the pillar to fall down just a bit while hanging onto
this grapple point. Perform a double jump then grapple to the next.

Grapple Point #13

Kratos automatically jumps and slams through the next pillar then lands in the
cave below.

The Great Chasm

<!-- -->

Walk through the cave tunnel ahead. The exits will seal off in the first open
section and a group of Sirens will attack. All of their moves are blockable.
They like to counter a bunch with their energy projectiles, but keep in mind
that you can deflect their projectiles right back at them with L1. Two Hades
Minotaurs will appear from the ground with another Siren after the first two
Sirens are defeated.

Move through the next tunnel after the battle. There is a --REPLENISHER
CHEST-- in the next room ahead, but make sure that you need it since a big
battle will break out as you approach it. Satyrs and Juggernauts will attack
and this can be quite a deadly combination. Use Cronos' Rage to put some
constant hurt on all enemies and go after the Juggernauts first since the
Satyrs like to stand and block so much. On the flip side, if you're Athena's
Blades are leveled up enough (Level 4) the Satyrs should fall kind of fast, so
you may want to go for them first. Walk out of the cave through the tunnel
ahead.

A save point will be to the left and a --GREEN CHEST-- and --BLUE CHEST-- will
be off to the right upon exiting the cave. Walk over to the bridge then jump
to the next section and walk to the end of the bridge for a cutscene.

Fun Fact: Stand on the ledge beside the bridge overlooking the gap and look
under the furthest section of the bridge to see Icarus hanging on to the bottom
of the bridge - look for his wings. When you walk to the end of the first
section of the bridge, he will disappear up under the bridge.

BOSS: ICARUS

This battle will start with an Action Sequence.

Action Sequence

Kratos backs up to the side of the bridge as he (STRUGGLES) (AROUND) with
Icarus.

(^ This first part of the battle will decide which character will be on top of
the other as they both plummet into the chasm. Fail to press the proper
directions and Icarus will automatically win.)

Once the two have started falling, tap [], /\, or O to attack Icarus while
falling into the chasm below.

[] = Punch from right hand
/\ = Punch from left hand
O = Alternate between right hand and left hand punch
(sometimes a headbutt will replace an attack)

Icarus will eventually grab Kratos and turn him to the other side while the two
fall but quickly shake the left analog to the left and right to have Kratos
punch him and move back on top. (if you lost the struggle at the beginning, the
battle will start with this sequence)

The end of the battle will come to a close with four action sequences. You
only have to win the final sequence to be victorious.

Action Sequences

  1. Eventually Icarus punches Kratos and gets on his back but Kratos
responds by @GRABBING@ Icarus' head and flipping him over his shoulder
as the two hit a boulder on the way down (The loser will hit the
    boulder).
  2. Icarus turns Kratos around again but Kratos quickly @TURNS@ the tides
by flipping Icarus back around to the bottom and holds Icarus against
the side rock wall as the two continue to plummet.
  3. Icarus once again turns Kratos over but Kratos @WRESTLES@ to top as
    the two hit another rock.
  4. Kratos stands on Icarus' back as Icarus starts to plead for the two to
work together. Kratos grabs Icarus' wings and starts to >>PULL<< at
Icarus' wings and eventually tears Icarus' wings off of his back as
Icarus falls to his doom below.

13. Atlas

Atlas Interior

Kratos will acquire the **ICARUS WINGS** after the battle. You will have the
chance to use the wings every time that Kratos performs a double jump - hold
the X button during the second jump to have Kratos spread out the wings and
glide. Gliding will become a major factor here on Atlas. Kratos can only
glide a certain distance and then the wings will automatically retract. Keep
in mind that Kratos also has some attacks with the Icarus wings - L1 + X on the
ground or in the air will perform a different type of attack.

Run to the left to find a save point along with a --GREEN CHEST--. A few
Harpies will fly down from the sky and attack. They're slightly more
aggressive than the others you have faced thus far, but still fall just as
easily.

Walk back over to the right and climb the rock wall. Transition to the ceiling
then back to the wall and climb over to the left. Follow the platform to the
left then jump and glide to the others. Jump and glide over to the chained
platforms and defeat the Harpies when they attack while you're on the second
platform. Jump to the next hanging platform up ahead and maneuver around the
big chain while gliding. Jump and glide to the distant platform below then
jump into the hole ahead.

BONE PUZZLE

Harpies and Satyrs will attack upon walking further into the tunnel. Open the
--REPLENISHER CHEST-- to the side if needed and walk toward the small bone in
the back. Attack the small appendages in the wall to make them retract. Pull
the small bone out of the wall then move it over to the bluish ledge against
the left wall. Jump on top of the bone and jump on top of the ledge on the
left side to find an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (17/?)++
along with a --RED CHEST-- in the hidden area above. Drop back down and pull
(don't push) the bone through the opening where it was. You need to pull it so
that you can make it through. Jump on top of the bone while on the other side
and hop up to the platform with the --GREEN CHEST--. Move down the tunnel
ahead then jump and glide to the platform in the lava below. Walk over to the
pile of rocks on the platform.

The Minotaur still hasn't changed. Don't let him get you close to the edge and
try to stay next to him so that you only have to dodge away from the lariat
instead of the ground pound. Jumping attacks work very well for this battle
since he will usually only attack once you land - double jump and attack as you
fall with either the Spear of Destiny or Athena's Blades.

Eventually the Minotaur will pound the ground and release a bunch of orbs. The
wall beside the rock platform will shatter to reveal a portion of the wall that
you can jump and cling on to. The rock platform that you're standing on will
start to tilt over into the lava so jump and glide to the wall. The Minotaur
will move to the back of the area while in the lava and will start to hurl
boulders toward the wall. Move to the right or left very quickly by tapping
the left analog toward the desired direction and tapping X. Wait until he is
just about to throw the boulder before you perform the jump. Once the platform
surfaces from the lava jump (Away + X) and glide back to the platform to
continue the battle.

The Rock Minotaur will crumble and leave behind a single boulder. Push the
boulder over to the tunnel shown by the camera angle then jump on it and glide
to the tunnel. When you reach the ledge at the top of the tunnel, jump and
glide down to the left side to find --2 UNMARKED CHESTS--. The left chest
contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (18/?)++.

Glide over to the platform against the right wall then continue into the next
area. Glide to the platform up ahead and the camera will zoom in to show
Atlas' hand in the distance. Hop over to the platform on the left side to find
a --GREEN CHEST-- along with a save point. Attack the appendages on the wall
to the right of the current platform. The appendages will release a rock that
will hit a purple object in the lava next to the middle platform. Jump back
across and hop over to the rock. Attack the purple object to shatter it then
get ready to quickly grapple to the grapple point above as the rock moves
closer to the edge of the lava fall ahead. Swing then jump and glide over to
the tunnel in the distance.

Shatter the rock up ahead and it will break and an updraft will exit from the
rock floor. Don't use it just yet though. Jump into the pit and strike the
left portion of the wall below the platform you need to glide to in order to
reveal an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (24/?)++. Stand in the
updraft then jump and spread the Icarus wings to have Kratos float upward.
Glide toward the ledge up ahead when Kratos hits the ceiling. In the next area
a whole swarm of Fire Nymphs will attack. Grab them with the O button and
throw them into the hives along the wall to stop them from spawning. If your
aim is not that great then just attack the hives with whatever weapon of your
choice. One of the hives will break away to reveal a section of wall that
Kratos can climb.

Make sure that all of the Nymph hives are gone then start from the right side
and jump to the ledge then to the climbable wall. Climb up and to the left
then jump across the slick wall to grab the climbable section. Climb upward
then transition to the ceiling then climb over and fall to the platform with
the --BLUE CHEST-- and --GREEN CHEST--. Look to the left in the background to
find the next section of climbable wall. Leap toward it then glide to it to
make Kratos attach to the wall. Transition to the ceiling then climb over to
the shiny rock structure blocking the way and shatter it by attacking it.
Climb over to the area below the rock platform up ahead then let go. Jump and
glide over to the tunnel in the distance.

You'll be able to see Atlas' head in the distance through the opening. Climb
the strip of climbable wall off to the left then transition to the ceiling.
Break the stalactites along the wall to keep revealing more sections of the
ceiling to climb on. Breaking the first stalactite will uncover a secret
square area up in the ceiling. Transition to the wall up in the small square
area to discover a --RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing the ++URN
OF PROMETHEUS++. Climb back down then climb even further along the wall while
breaking stalactites. Sentries will attack eventually while moving to the very
back section. Transition to the wall of the next square area in the ceiling
then climb up to the floor above.

Walk over to the platform with the large chain attached to it and jump on top
of it. The platform will move downward a bit then a section of climbable wall
will be exposed to the side. Jump over to the wall then climb downward and
transition to the ceiling below. Climb over to the bony stalactites at the end
of the ceiling then attack them to make them fall on the vents below. Don't
drop down just yet, follow the ceiling over to the platform right next to the
save point then drop down and hop across to save your game before moving
onward. You'll need to attack some appendages to make them move back into the
wall while climbing on the ceiling.

Atlas Exterior

Jump and glide over to the updraft where the vents used to be and this will
give Kratos the extra boost he needs to make it over to the platform ahead.
Glide to the first chained platform then to the large platform below. Harpies
and Hades Legionnaires will attack as you land on the large platform. Use the
Spear of Destiny to quickly fight them off. The Piercing Shards attack (L1 +
/\) works very well to knock the Legionnaires off balance. Rotate the lever in
the middle clockwise to make the platform rise into the air then quickly jump
and glide to the first of the smaller chained platforms. Leap to the second
then the third and slide across the small chain on the third in order to reach
Atlas' arm.

Kratos will land near a save point with a --GREEN CHEST-- and a --RED CHEST--
nearby. Climb the wall to the side then jump across to the right section of
the next wall. Sentries will start to spawn on the wall below but climb up
quickly and attack the rocks above you to make them come crashing down on the
Sentries. Don't stand below the rocks or you'll get hit yourself. The rocks
will kill the enemies instantly. Keep moving up the side of the wall then
transition to the ceiling once you reach the top. You'll see two grapple
points to the side. Face them and quickly let go of the wall then grapple to
the first grapple point. Swing then jump to the next and grapple to it.
Kratos will swing around in a circle while on the second grapple point. Jump
to the third with proper timing then grapple on to it and double jump toward
the climbable wall. Climb up the wall then jump (Away + X) to the platform
across from the wall. Hop to the next platform for a really good view of the
side of Atlas.

BOULDER PUZZLE

Turn to the left then grab one of the boulders. As you can see, you must reach
a very high ledge up ahead. Pull the first boulder below the ramp so that it
is stands to the side next to the top of the ramp. Pull the second boulder up
the ramp and position it right next to the boulder below the top of the ramp.
Push the boulder on top onto the boulder below. They don't have to be perfect.
Pull the two stacked boulders over to the first higher platform then get up on
top of the raised platform. Pull the top boulder off the bottom boulder and
position it below the high ledge. Jump and grab onto the side of the high
ledge then pull yourself up.

Turn around while on the high ledge and find the climbable wall to the left
(the camera angle's left) then jump and glide over to it. Climb all the way
over to the left and fall to the platform with the --UNMARKED CHEST--
containing the ++GORGON EYE (25/?)++. Climb back over to the other ledge that
you came from and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed then start to scale the
climbable wall up ahead.

As you make a turn to the right while climbing, notice that there are boulders
falling down the sides of the climbable portions of the wall up ahead. While
you quickly climb up the wall (Up + X) jump from the right wall to the left and
vice versa to avoid the falling rocks while moving up. When you get to the
top, move over to the left and quickly down the wall to the left. The next set
of walls is just like the first set, so jump between them on your way up. When
you reach the top, run over to the broken chain that the camera angle will show
and attack it to break it and free the Titan from the chain's grips.

Atlas will pick Kratos up and the following action sequence will play twice.

Action Sequence

Atlas squeezes Kratos between two fingers while talking with him and
Kratos will >>STRUGGLES<< (L1, R1) to keep from getting squashed. Kratos
suffers major damage for each time that the buttons are not pressed.

Atlas will bestow upon Kratos the **ATLAS QUAKE**. This ability, if you'll
pardon the pun, totally rocks in both appearance and effect. Kratos will pound
the ground with one hand to make the ground shake then step forward with an
earth-shattering stomp to the ground as if he is performing a dance of complete
ownage while his enemies fly into the air. Practice this ability on the
Guardians that show up and impress Atlas with their defeat while using his
skill. A cutscene will trigger after all of the Guardians are dead.

Outside the Palace of the Fates

Jump and glide to the piece of bridge up ahead with the save point and save
your game. Fly to the next platform but look to the left while gliding to see
a rock column with a chest on top. Double jump and glide over to the section
of climbable wall on the rock platform to the left and climb on top to see an
--UNMARKED CHEST-- that contains a ++GORGON EYE (26/?)++. Jump and glide to
the next tallest rock platform up ahead. You'll notice another tall rock
platform in the distance with a --GREEN CHEST-- on top. Jump and glide to the
next platform and pull yourself up to the chest. The section of climbable wall
is only there just in case you took the lower route in which case, you would
have had to climb the wall then glide across to the platform you were just on
in order to reach the top portion with the chest. Jump and glide toward the
entrance of the building ahead.

14. The Palace of the Fates

A great battle is about to take place in front of the palace doors so you may
want to level up your Cronos' Rage or Atlas Quake since they will help out a
bunch. You'll likely notice the --GREEN CHEST-- and --BLUE CHEST-- on the
sidewalls of the palace. Don't use them for now unless you really need them.
Find the switch below the right side of the ramp that leads up to the palace
doors and pull the switch to lower the ramp. The gate will seal off and Beast
Lords will appear and blow their horns to summon two Cyclops Berserkers.

Now, keep in mind that once a Cyclops falls, the Beast Lords will always try to
blow their horn to summon more Cyclops Berserkers. You must stop them from
blowing those horns or you will have to deal with a whole bunch of Cyclops
Berserkers before the Beast Lords fall. Lay out a Cronos' Rage electrical orb
to hit one Beast Lord then turn and hit the other one at the beginning as they
blow their horns and you will not have to fight any Berserkers. Keep in mind
that once the Beast Lords have gotten well enough into their horn blow, the
animation cannot be stopped and the Berserker will be summoned. Constantly
pull the Beast Lords off of the Berserkers and use Atlas Quake and Cronos' Rage
to overflow the Beast Lords with damage and keep them from blowing their horns.
This battle can very easily get out of control and cause major damage to
Kratos, but stay aggressive with your magic mixed with Rage of the Titans and
you shouldn't have to fight any Berserkers. Fireball Fiends will appear along
the side of the wall, but try to stay focused on the Beast Lords the most.
Move behind a Cyclops Berserker or grab a Beast Lord if a fireball is about to
hit Kratos. If you can manage to stop both of the Beast Lords at the beginning
all you to do is grab the Beast Lords to death to easily win the battle.

Once the battle has ended, find the lever on the right side of the wall. The
lever looks different from the others that you have used before, so keep that
in mind. Pull the lever to the left and notice how the gate up above rotates
to the side. Grab one of the other levers that moves out of the wall on the
right before it moves back into the wall and keep pulling or pushing lever
after lever until an entrance without a gate is exposed. The ramp that went
under the ground will surface once again to allow entry. Walk inside of the
circular room through the door once an open doorway is revealed.

The doorway will seal off from behind as you walk toward the middle of the
room. Notice the switch. Walk over to the --GREEN CHEST-- and the --RED
CHEST-- on the right side and open at least the red one. Walk over to the
switch and pull it to make the wall rotate. This will also summon Dark Nymphs
and make spikes pop out of the floor. Make sure to watch for the spikes to
appear below the different sections of the floor then jump away from that
section before getting impaled. The Dark Nymphs will try to keep you glued
down with webbing so be prepared to struggle to break free. Grabbing them can
both help you out and make you get hit since Kratos is invincible during the
animation but not afterward. Don't even try to open the red chest spread
around the many alcoves right now. Wait for the space with the cracked wall on
the right side of the back of the room to be open then run over to it and pull
the wall outward to stop the room from turning and the spikes from surfacing.
Walk over to the --3 RED CHESTS-- on the left side of the room and open them
and be sure to grab the **CRANK HANDLE** near a red chest on the left side.

Enter the newly opened hall. Go up the staircase to the left of the --GREEN
CHEST-- in the center of the hall. Find the --RED CHEST-- to the left and the
--BLUE CHEST-- to the right then continue down the corridor ahead. Walk out
into the open area for a cutscene that will show Kratos' ultimate destination.
There are many things to do in this one little area. There are two doors: one
that requires the Key of Ram and another that requires the Warrior's Skull.
There is also a carving of Boreas next to a horn, a platform that is protected
by some flame pillars, and a ladder. Climb the ladder first of all.

FLAME PILLAR PUZZLE

As you can see, there is a Fate Statue with a flashing green stone and a crank
without the handle at the top of the ladder. Place the Crank Handle that you
got from the room below on the crank. Turn the lever clockwise to make the
flame pillars down below stop for a brief second. Right after letting go of
the lever, use the Amulet of the Fates to slow time then quickly slide down the
ladder and glide over to the platform that was protected by the flame pillars.

Walk over to the alcove on the right as you land to find an --UNMARKED CHEST--
containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (19/?)++. The flames will automatically shut
off once you've passed them when time resumes. Fly over to the entrance on the
left side and run down the corridor. Save your game at the save point then hop
along the raised portion of the floor at the other end.

RISING UPWARD DRAFT PUZZLE

You will run across an upward draft rising from a vent. Walk to the back of
the corridor and find the switch against the back right wall. Pull the switch
to make the gate near the updraft lower. It will start to close again very
quickly. In order to get past the gate, run back to the rising draft and have
Kratos quickly glide in place. Right when his head gets near the ceiling,
glide toward the closing gate in the small open section at the top of the gate
in order to get through. This may take a few tries. Kratos will just barely
make it.

On the other side, begin to walk down the corridor and a few Hounds will
attack. Kick through them and run further down the corridor. Guardians and
more Hounds will attack in the room ahead. Grab the handle of the door below
the carving and open it. Walk into the next area and you will find a --GREEN
CHEST-- and a --BLUE CHEST-- on each side of the doorway ahead. Break the
wooden structure holding the block to make the block fall. Push the block
through the doorway ahead.

Auditorium of Lahkesis

The door to the side has a ram head, but it is not the same door that requires
the Key of the Ram. Walk up to the book and examine it to find out that Kratos
is not able to decipher the information therein. Push/Kick the block you got
from the previous room down the pathway on the right side. Push the block into
the room with the translator in the distance. Walk over to the translator and
grab him then place him to the side. As you can see, he was sitting on a
pressure plate that held the door open. Push the block onto the pressure
plate. Now you're free to pick up the translator and take him back to the book
in the center of the area.

The only problem is that while carrying the translator, you will need to
protect him from the many enemies that spawn along the way, as the on-screen
phrase will tell you. The translator's life bar is in the upper right hand
corner of the screen and he is very weak, so make sure to keep the enemies away
from him at all cost. Place the translator on the floor every time a wave of
enemies appear and defeat all enemies before grabbing the translator again.

The first wave of enemies is not too bad - it consists of Guardians and Hounds.
Use your Athena's Blades to easily keep them away. Cyclone of Chaos (L1 + [])
works very well especially while on the narrow portion of the walkway. The
second wave will spawn once you take the translator to the middle of the
walkway. A few Satyrs and Guardians will appear. Try not to use up all of
your magic just yet, and save your Rage of the Titans if you have some. Use
the Icarus Ascension (L1 + X) to take the Satyrs to the air and deal with them
above when only a few enemies remain.

The third and final wave of enemies will appear once you take the translator to
the platform with the book. The third wave consists of High Priests, Hounds,
and Guardians. Stay near the book and keep the enemies away by whatever means
you can come up with. Use Rage of the Titans and Atlas Quake to keep them away
from the translator. It's best to save the Atlas Quake for when all the
enemies pile up around the translator. The main enemies you really need to go
after are the High Priests. Keep in mind that you will still need to chase
down the High Priests - they will come to you sometimes, but not all the time.

Once the battle ends, it will appear as if the translator has forgotten the
words judging by his phrase, so you will be forced to walk toward him and make
him remember the words by pressing the R1 button. As Kratos holds the man, you
will have to persuade the translator to read the words by tapping the O button
when prompted. A cutscene will play after Kratos is through administering his
persuasion. Walk over to the door with the glowing centerpiece and you will
receive the **KEY OF THE RAM**.

Lift up the door with the glowing centerpiece to see a --GREEN CHEST-- against
the wall. Run around the corner and follow the corridor up ahead. Lift open
the gate at the end of the hall to enter the area with the updraft that helped
you to move through the closing gate. Return to the save point past the raised
pillars at the end of this hall and save your game. Rush out to the big open
area that you first came to when you entered the Palace of the Fates. Hop over
the first few platforms and find the door with the ram heads. Use the Key of
the Ram to unlock the door then slide it open.

Walk to the --REPLENISHER CHEST-- up ahead. You may notice the spikes on the
wall to the side. Walk down the corridor to the right and a cutscene will
begin once you near the pathway at the end. Sentries will appear and the
spiked wall on the far end will start to move down the corridor. Quickly fight
off the Sentries and Undead Legionnaires to stop the wall from moving. These
enemies are basically pushovers so use Cyclone of Chaos (L1 + []) with the
Athena's Blades to quickly plow through them. Once the spiked wall starts to
move close to the other, start to use Atlas Quake to kill off the enemies
faster. The wall will not compact instantly once it gets close to the other;
it will stay in place for a few seconds then suddenly clash together with the
other spiked wall. There are tons of enemies during this battle, so it will
get close to smashing you and you will need to resort to magic or Rage of the
Titans.

15. The Garden of the Gods

Fun Fact: While walking toward the first Red Chest mentioned below, look past
the gate to see a man running to the right hall after seeing Kratos.

Walk through the pathway ahead and open the --RED CHEST-- in the left corner
when entering the new area. Enter the statue room at the top of the long
stairway for a slight cutscene. Walk over to the left side and find the --RED
CHEST-- and the --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (20/?)++
within the spaces along the wall. You can break the statue of Athena for some
extra red orbs - you can actually break it before she finishes talking. Attack
the cracked wall to the left of the statue of Ares to reveal a new pathway.

There is a bottomless pit below the gap between the wall with the gate and the
platform you enter the room from. Move toward the gap and hug the right wall
then move along the ledge that extends along the wall. Once you move past the
second wall, jump to the floor in the below (there is no gap here) and run
through the doorway then climb the ladder. Kratos will emerge in the room with
a --RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (27/?)++
that you most likely saw while moving along the ledge. Slide back down the
ladder and run back outside. Double jump and grab back onto the ledge then
move further to the right. Step out onto the platform when you reach the other
side and save your game at the save point.

Enter the room to the side and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed. Jump to the
chain up ahead and it will automatically break and Kratos will fall to the room
below. Walk up to the big door and examine it to find out that the sisters of
fate require a sacrifice by fire in order for the door to be opened. Luckily,
a Siren will surface from the ground after examining the door. Weaken the
Siren to where she is stunned with the icon over her head. Try to weaken her
while she is on one side. Quickly rush to the opposite side while she is daze
and pull the switch on that side to burn the Siren and please the sisters. The
meter on the door will fill up for each sacrifice and you will need a total of
three sacrifices. The Head of Euryale works rather nicely for this area. When
the Sirens dodge to one side, quickly turn them to stone then run over and pull
the opposite side's switch.

Enter the room ahead when the door opens then open the --GREEN CHEST -- if
needed. Jump into the red water and descend. You'll notice quite a few dead
bodies while swimming in this area. Swim through the hole and look out for the
spikes. You'll find some pots on the bottom, but be sure to watch where you're
going when performing a speed boost to break them. Surface to the top at the
end of the area to enter a dark room. Don't walk toward the back just yet.
Move toward the screen to discover --2 RED CHESTS-- against the wall.

STONE BIRD PUZZLE

Walk to the middle of the room ahead to find a stone bird frozen in ice. Look
around the room to see several alcoves with ice around them as well.

  1. Drop into the center circular area of the room and pull the switch on the
back of the frozen stone bird. This will cause the bird to breathe fire out of
its mouth and melt the ice wall that it is facing. A mirror will be revealed
on the other side of the ice. Don't mess with the mirror just yet.
  2. Ignore the levers on the side of the room for the moment and find one of the
many climbable walls on the sides of this area. Climb up the wall and
transition to the ceiling. Move along the ceiling and destroy all the ice
pieces. After all of the ice pieces have been destroyed, drop back down to the
bottom and approach the three levers.
  3. Rotate the three levers so that the image of the last quarter (half) moon is
shown below the middle switch. By rotating it this way the full moon (mirror)
will be in front of the bird statue.
  4. Walk over to the mirror that we previously left alone in step 1 and grab it
then move it toward the camera angle and place it up under the beam of light in
the middle portion of that side. This will reflect light toward the mirror on
the bottom wall and melt the ice around the stone bird.

Drop to the circular area and rotate the stone bird with the lever in front of
it and melt the ice around the area by pulling the switch on the back of the
bird. All alcoves will house some sort of treasure chests. There is a total
of --2 UNMARKED CHESTS-- one of which contains a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (21/?)++,
--2 RED CHESTS--, and --1 BLUE CHEST--. Two of the alcoves will also have a
Minotaur in them along with the chest. Open the door with the helmet that was
behind the ice to continue.

GRAPPLE POINT PUZZLE

Move down the corridor ahead. Drop to the area with the lever inside. You'll
find a bunch of Fire Nymphs in the room with a few nests around the area. You
need to get rid of all the nests around the area. There are only three nests,
one of which is on the bottom floor and the other two are on the ceiling. Find
the climbable wall with the broken ladder leaning against it then climb it and
hop to the next area. Transition to the ceiling while climbing up the wall and
destroy the two nests at the top. You'll have to constantly fight off the Fire
Nymphs, but they shouldn't be much of a problem.

Once all of the enemies have been taken care of, rotate the lever in the middle
of the room to make the helmet emblem rotate and lower a grapple point.
Quickly let go of the lever once the grapple point reaches the bottom of its
descent then grapple to the grapple point. Kratos will ride the grapple piece
all the way up to the top above the ceiling. Find the --GREEN CHEST-- and
--BLUE CHEST-- along the side of the framework up above and replenish yourself
fully since a big battle is ahead. Walk down the corridor ahead and move into
the middle of the room.

BOSS: CERBERUS BREEDERS

Attacks (Cerberus Breeders):

Paw Combo: The Cerberus steps forward with a paw slap them hits Kratos with
both paws.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Fireballs: The Cerberus shoots a fireball from each head very quickly toward
Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Pup Breeding: The Cerberus will vomit up a smaller Cerberus.

How to avoid: N/A

Attack (Cerberus Seeds):

Spinning Lunge: The Cerberus Pup jumps and spins in the air then shoots toward
Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Attacks (Juggernaut):

Shoulder Ram: The Juggernaut will run toward Kratos and ram him then perform an
upward strike with his mace.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Mace Combo: The Juggernaut will move toward Kratos with two Mace strikes

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

If you've played the first God of War then you should know how deadly these
Cerberus Breeders can be. The adult Cerberuses will literally vomit Cerberus
Seeds (pups) into the area. The little ones are probably the most deadly of
them all since they can turn into big ones if left alive for too long. The
attacks of the adult Cerberuses are very limited (two moves actually; three if
you count the pup breeding), but they make up for it with shear aggressiveness.
These things are just as agile as the Dark Cerberus fought earlier in the game.
Make sure that you defeat the Cerberus Pups along with the large Cerberuses.
It's more vital to destroy the pups than the adults. Two Juggernauts will
appear toward the end of the battle once the Cerberuses are almost gone and
they are just as hard as the Cerberus adults. The Juggernauts have a bunch of
life compared to the ones you have fought thus far.

I would highly recommend that you use Atlas Quake and Rage of the Titans often
during this battle. Atlas Quake is excellent for getting rid of a whole crowd
of Cerberus Pups and Rage of the Titans will help to defeat the Green
Cerberuses much faster. The adult Cerberus will have two icons to appear over
them while fighting them: one at half life and one near death. One really good
aspect of this battle is that the adult Cerberuses will release yellow orbs to
charge your Rage of the Titans meter once killed. Make sure to activate some
heavy attacks once the Juggernauts enter the area since they can be very deadly
with a Cerberus. The first icon kill will finish the Juggernauts like normal.
There's not really much of a strategy for the Juggernauts other than to attack
them as you roll away from their attacks (while they recover).

All of this carnage can be avoided with a few Gorgon Rage (L1 + O [charge])
from a Level 3 Head of Euryale. Just stand in the middle of crowd, stone them,
equip the hammer, and use /\ attacks to break them. Plume of Prometheus with
the Athena's Blades works well to break them also.

Keep in mind that a --GREEN CHEST-- is lying off to the side during this
battle.

Once the madness has settled down, walk over to the bars in the back and find
the ladder on the left side of the wall. Climb the ladder and save your game
at the save point up above. Jump across to the platform on the right side,
across from the save point, to find a --RED CHEST--. Another --RED CHEST-- and
an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++GORGON EYE (28/?)++ are against the back
wall. Fall down on the middle left side of that platform to fall in between
the barred areas where --2 RED CHESTS-- lie. Use the ledges to escape from the
middle area - jump to the first then glide across to the second on the opposite
side and glide back to the platform from the second. Jump back to the left
platform and lift the gate with the --GREEN CHEST-- behind it. Slide down the
ladder to the side.

Auditorium of Atropos

You will notice there is a Fate Statue with a flashing green stone on it.
Break the pots in front of it and let's go ahead and push it with us just in
case - you never know when these may come in handy! You'll notice a distortion
behind statue upon moving it. That is not a glitch and we will get back to
that in just a moment! Push the Fate Statue down the hall ahead. Move the
statue to the side once you reach the gate. Walk toward the gate and watch the
cutscene as the man plummets over the edge. That was actually the man that ran
from you while approaching the red chest with the bars behind it while in the
Garden of the Gods if you remember that.

TIME PUZZLE

Pull the switch to the left in order to raise the gate. Place the statue over
to the side of the open gate. This will keep the gate from closing. Walk into
the auditorium and look on the left wall to see a distortion that makes a time
portal. Go through the time portal to find that it transports you back to the
few seconds before the translator from earlier jumped to his death. As you can
see, the statue will hold up the gate as it tries to close if you pushed it far
enough. There is one thing you should do before worrying about the translator
though. Keep in mind that you go through the time portal as many times as
needed to complete this part. Right when you first step through the portal,
slow time using the Amulet of the Fates and run all the way back to the
distortion behind the area where the Fate Statue was and you will find a ++MEGA
GREEN CHEST++. This chest will give Kratos so many green orbs that it will
extend his life gauge. The chest will only stay there until the translator
falls to his death, so be quick!

In order to get the translator, step back through the time portal then slow
time once again with the Amulet of the Fates and run then grab the translator
with the R1 button before he commits suicide.

Fun Fact: After grabbing the translator try a few different things with him.
Wherever you take him, he will automatically run back to the ledge and jump
off. You can actually toss him off the ledge with Kratos! Also, you can
attack him while he runs to help build up your Rage of the Titans gauge. The
only thing you can't do is take him through the time portal with you.

Place the translator in front of the book and an action sequence much like the
first translator event will occur where you must tap the O button to encourage
the translator to read the book. A cutscene will play once the translator is
tired out from deciphering. Walk over to the door on the right side and
collect the **WARRIOR'S SKULL** from the door.

DRAFT PUZZLE

Open the door and step up to the lever in the back. Rotate the lever to make
the updraft travel further up. Jump into the draft while gliding in place and
this allow Kratos to float up to the alcove against the wall. Grab the ledge
of the alcove and pull yourself up. Pull the switch to make the draft reach
higher. Rotate the lever once again and glide up to the ceiling to have Kratos
grapple to it. Keep in mind that all of this is timed (the lever and the
switch). Climb across the top of the ceiling and move to the right as you pass
by the set of broken pillars. The camera angle will rotate to show you a
hidden --RED CHEST-- on the ledge below. Drop down to it and open it then jump
back to the ceiling. Destroy the top of the shiny column in the way while
climbing across. Fall to the platform near the wall on the other side or
transition to the wall and slide down.

Walk toward the lift through the doorway and rotate the lever to lower it.
Step through the doorway and jump to the platform ahead. The exits will all
seal off and two Cyclops will appear to challenge you. These Cyclops are
pretty tough compared to what you're used to. Use the Head of Euryale to stone
them and defeat them quickly if needed. Other than that, Rage of the Titans
works well. They attack many times in a row with their front strikes so be
sure to roll away and stay away while they attack. Keep in mind that a roll to
the side is much better at avoiding their attacks then a backwards roll. Four
of them will appear.

Place the Warrior's Skull on the door with the Cerberus heads to unlock it.
Open the door to see a --GREEN CHEST--, --BLUE CHEST--, and a save point. Make
sure that the Head of Euryale is powered up to at least level 2 before stepping
onto the lift in the back. Have Kratos grab onto the front of the middle
column on the lift. Tap the O button to have him push the elevator down. The
spiked ceiling will start to move down upon Kratos eventually and the bones
around the area will form into Skeletons and attack.

Keep moving the lift down until they attack you or one of them gets stuck in a
gear. You will have to attack the one that gets stuck to knock him out of the
gear. Use the Head of Euryale to quickly turn them to stone then shatter them.
This will quickly destroy them and keep them from reforming. The normal Gorgon
stare works well when they are spread out and the Gorgon Flash is good for when
they are grouped. Stone all the Skeletons on the screen before attempting to
break them. When you reach the bottom the last group of Skeletons will attack
and you will have to quickly lift open a door. Make sure to defeat the
Skeletons before attempting to lift the door.

16. Underground

Walk toward the screen at the bottom to find a --RED CHEST-- along with an
--UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (22/?). Up the stairs ahead
you will find a --GREEN CHEST-- on your way to the lava pool to the side. Jump
on the rope and attack the Sentries as they climb across while moving over the
lava. Move very quickly so that you make it to the center platform in the lava
before the Archers spawn on the ledge to the side. Fall down and grab onto the
side of the ledge then climb to the right and pull yourself up. Defeat the
Archers then get ready for some Sentries and Gorgons. Take out your Hammer
then reflect the Gorgon's stare onto the whole crowd of enemies then destroy
them with the Hammer or Atlas Quake.

Jump back to the middle platform once you're finished. You'll actually have to
stand near the portion without railing and jump back to the platform. Find the
climbable wall on the left side and start to climb then jump to the next
section. Transition to the ceiling and climb to the area across the lava.
Sentries will spawn on the other side and climb up to the ceiling to attack.
Fight off the Sentries then find the section of the climbable ceiling that
moves off to the left and is hidden by the camera angle. Climb into this area
to find a small alcove with a --RED CHEST-- inside. Once you transition to the
wall on the other side and slide down, a group of Sentries and Archers will
spawn from the ground and attack. Open the --GREEN CHEST-- and --REPLENISHER
CHEST-- if needed then continue to the right.

You'll see an updraft shooting out of the lava below and a glowing object on
the wall ahead. Use Typhon's Bane to shoot the glowing object to reveal a
secret room. Jump into the updraft and glide then fall into the secret room
below the next area. Open the --UNMARKED CHEST-- for a ++PHOENIX FEATHER
(23/?)++ then open the --MEGA BLUE CHEST-- for a magic boost. Don't jump out
of the secret area just yet. Turn your attention toward the wall on the right
side then attack it to discover a secret lever inside. Pull the lever (hidden
by the camera) to make the blades above (in the next room) move into the
column. Jump and glide into the updraft then float to the floor above the
secret area.

By pulling the secret lever, this next part will be much easier. Jump and
catch each updraft to the right as you glide above the lava. Watch for the
lava bursts from the lava below since they will instantly make Kratos fall into
the lava once he touches one. Maneuver through the twisted corridor and make a
left then keep gliding until you reach an area along the side of the wall.
While on the ground, jump and glide toward the area to the right and find the
--RED CHEST--. Jump back across and move down the ramp ahead. You'll be able
to see your main goal in this area as Gaia points out the ashes of the Phoenix.

The Phoenix Chamber

Run to the floor below and read the book. Save your game at the save point on
the right platform. While on the platform with the save point, glide over the
to the hidden stairway behind the pillars in the middle and open the --RED
CHEST-- in the middle. The switch is useless for the moment, so glide over to
the platform on the left side. Fight off the Skeletons then defeat the Hades
Legionnaire as you move down the corridor ahead.

SPIKE PUZZLE

You'll come to a room with several large spikes. Pull the switch to make the
spikes retract under the ground. Run over to the area with the stone pillars
against the wall on the back left and break them to reveal an alcove with a
Fate Statue that has a flashing green stone above it. Hades Legionnaires will
attack as the pillars shatter. Try to hang out on the floor long enough to
keep the Legionnaires occupied then quickly jump back as the spikes surface to
kill them quickly through the use of the spikes. In order to get the chests in
that alcove with the Fate Statue, pull the switch then slow time and run over
to one of them then start to open it. Time will always resume once Kratos
tries to pry one open, so I would recommend making two trips for the --2 RED
CHESTS--.

Pull the switch once again then freeze time and walk over to the body on the
lever and examine it to obtain the **HAIL OF BOREAS**. The lever in the middle
will open the door in the very back of the right corridor. Keep in mind that
the lever does not have to be rotated all the way in order for the door to open
in the right corridor - it only needs to be rotated a full 360 degrees to open
the door wide enough for Kratos to fit through. Quickly pull the switch to
make the spikes sink under the floor then slow time with the Amulet of the
Fates. Run over to the lever and pull it all the way around once so that it is
in its normal position then quickly freeze time and run down the hall toward
the door in the back. You'll need to jump over two pitfalls along the way - it
can be kind of hard to maneuver through the pits if you're TV is dark.

Walk down the corridor to the left and you'll see three chests behind some
bars. Move around the side and locate the large rectangular hole in the right
wall forming a ledge. Grab onto the ledge then jump and glide across to the
platform on the left side. Fall to the area below to get the --3 RED CHESTS--
that you saw from behind the bars. Climb back up the ladder then continue
ahead. A --GREEN CHEST-- and a --BLUE CHEST-- will be along the sides of the
hall as you venture down the corridor.

FLAME WALL PUZZLE

Right after passing both chests, break the statue to the right for some extra
red orbs then grab the statue on the left side. Push the statue into the area
ahead and get ready to take cover behind it. In this area, you will have to
push the statue toward the back of the area as a flame wall rushes toward you.
Take cover behind the statue each time that the flame wall rushes your way. It
should be noted that the statue will provide a small area of protection around
its backside instead of just the immediate area behind it.

There are two doors along the right and left (in the back) sides of the room.
The door on the right has a --RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing
a ++PHOENIX FEATHER (24/?) behind it. The door on the left has a --RED CHEST--
and a --BLUE CHEST-- behind it. You will have to place the statue to the side
of the door so that it protects the front allowing you to open the door fully.
Don't stay in the side rooms while the flame wall is moving toward you or the
flames will hit Kratos.

Hades Legionnaires and Harpies will be attacking the whole time that you push
the statue. The Legionnaires will eventually stop attacking once enough have
been defeated, but the Harpies never stop. Use Cronos' Rage while you quickly
push and kick the statue toward the area in front of the switch then pull the
switch to make the platform ahead sink down into the floor allowing you to push
the statue toward the back. There are two pressure plates in the back. You
will need to push the statue on top of the left one to keep the gate up ahead
open. Quickly stand on the right pressure plate as the flame wall stops then
jump and swing toward the open gate before another flame wall starts. It is
also good to fully exterminate all the Legionnaires before attempting to use
the pressure plates. Run to the back of the area while the Legionnaires are
piled up to have quite a big area to fight them in. Take out the Head of
Euryale and stone them quickly then break them. Since the flame wall is going
to constantly push back the statue I would recommend that you push/kick the
statue a bit past the pressure plate so that the flame wall pushes it toward
the left pressure plate then run toward the other and stand on it before making
your grapple.

A --GREEN CHEST-- will be on the high platform as you land and the urn
containing the ashes of the Phoenix will be near the bars up ahead. Grab the
urn and push it off the pressure plate that it is currently on to make the
pedestal move downward. Push the urn along the path to the right and it will
eventually fall into a groove. Walk over to the switch in the back and the
paths will seal off. Fight off the Skeletons and Minotaurs that appear then
save your game on the platform over to the side.

Pull the switch to make a grappler pick up the urn and drop it into the lava.
This will also trigger a cutscene. Find the circular staircase that leads up
the center pillars. Glide toward the updraft by the stairs and it will lift
you up enough to get up on the stairs. Undead Legionnaires will attack on the
way up. Before pulling the switch at the top, look around the sides to find a
--RED CHEST-- on the right side and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a
++PHOENIX FEATHER (25/?)++ on the left side. Pull the switch in the middle to
raise the platform that Kratos is on back up to the middle area of the Palace
of the Fates. Turn around and place the Hail of Boreas into the mouth of the
face of Boreas to open the door behind you.

Walk down the bloody corridor behind the door and find the chain hanging from
the ceiling at the first turn to the left. Before grabbing the chain, turn
left and open the --RED CHEST-- near the pillars - this is the red chest that
you have seen from the other side of the pillars in the middle area all this
time. Climb the chain in the middle. Leap off on the next floor and you'll
notice a --GREEN CHEST-- and a --BLUE CHEST-- next to save point in the back of
the room. Walk over to the right side and find the horn that is facing the
Phoenix. Blow the horn for a cutscene.

The camera will show the door to the side that is up the broken ladder in this
center area as it zooms back to Kratos after the cutscene. Jump off the
platform with the horn and walk over to the two circular platforms that used to
hold up statues. Jump and pull yourself up onto the first platform then jump
to the next. From the second circular platform, jump and glide to the door
above the broken ladder.

PEDESTAL PUZZLE

Open the door to the room ahead and the camera will show you two shining chains
on the wall near the ceiling. Pull the switch in the middle to make the lift
to the left rise up and reveal a climbable wall on its side. Climb the wall of
the lift and transition to the ceiling. You'll need to maneuver through the
pedestals at the top. Climb up to the very top of the wall then move toward
the shiny chain up above each gate. First of all, hit the one to the right so
that it opens the gate to the --RED CHEST-- below then climb over to the second
shiny chain and hit it so that it releases the gate with the pedestal in the
back of it.

Pull the pedestal out of the wall and kick it toward the lift on the left side.
Pull the switch again to make the lift come back down. Fireball Fiends will
attack once the lift is lowered. Place the pedestal in between the front of
the lift and the wall above it. Pull the switch and the pedestal should
prevent the lift from rising all the way. It will make a small opening where
Kratos can jump through and get on the lift. Keep in mind that the pedestal
has to be placed precise or it may fall off. Get on the lift and pull the
pedestal onto the lift. The lift will rise up once again with you on it.
Place the pedestal against the gated wall then hop on top of it. You'll see
another shiny chain up above the gate. Jump and attack the chain to make the
gate lower.

Open the --GREEN CHEST-- off to the side if needed. Break the objects around
the chest for some extra red orbs. For the moment, the path to the right
doesn't lead anywhere. Rotate the lever in the circular area counterclockwise.
This will raise the platforms outside and also expose an entrance to another
lever down the right path. Walk into the circular area down the right path and
break the pots for some more red orbs. Rotate the lever inside to rotate the
gated area around the room. There is an open space that will appear in place
of the gated wall on all four doorways, but you want to rotate the lever so
that the open space appears on the right wall first of all. This will reveal a
--RED CHEST-- in an alcove behind the wall. Rotate the lever some more until
an opening is exposed in the dark room straight ahead. Enter the dark room and
Kratos will get assaulted by a mysterious figure.

BOSS: DETERMINED MAN

Attacks:

Stab Combo: The man stabs toward Kratos then slashes him with his sword.

How to avoid: Block or deflect.

Slash Combo: The man steps forward with two horizontal slashes.

How to avoid: Block or deflect.

You are not meant to lose during this battle judging by the extremely small
amount of damage that the man takes from Kratos. Keep in mind that it can
still be lost however, if you set your controller down long enough. The battle
is fought in a very narrow room where the two can only move backward or
forward. All of the man's attacks can be blocked or deflected. The only
weapon not recommended is the Hammer since Kratos will take too long in between
hits. Jump and glide to the other side if the man ever corners you on one
side. Feel free to use any magic or use Rage of the Titans; it will recharge
before the actual fighting portion of the next battle. Approach him and press
the O button once the icon appears for a cutscene.

BOSS: KRAKEN

Kratos can only walk at the beginning of this battle and each button press will
result in him yelling out a phrase in response to the last event.

Button Response

O = I am cursed!
[] = I grow tired of the lies of the gods!
/\ = Come down here and face me now, Zeus!
X = I cannot change my fate!

The Kraken will eventually grab Kratos and another cutscene will trigger.
Kratos will receive a ++RAGE OF THE TITANS UPGRADE++ after the next cutscene.
Activate Rage of the Titans to break free from the Kraken's grasp, or don't, it
doesn't really matter. Kratos will gain a bunch of green orbs from the Kraken
no matter the outcome.

Attacks (Phase #1):

Tentacle Stab: The Kraken stabs his claw tentacle into the ground three times.

How to avoid: Roll or move away.

Tentacle Smash: The Kraken readies his claw tentacle and performs an overhead
smash with it.

How to avoid: Roll.

Acid Spit: The Kraken roars with a greenish liquid in its mouth then spits it
toward Kratos. This move is designed to push you back, especially once you
grab the corpse.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Tentacle Slap: When Kratos moves beside either of the Kraken's side tentacles,
it will uncoil the tentacle from the circular platform and slap him with it.
Notice that it slaps in a pattern from right to left (or left to right)
depending on which tentacle you're standing by for a total of three slaps.

How to avoid: Roll or move away.

This battle is a perfect blend of puzzle and actual fighting. Hit the Kraken's
left tentacle that is coiled around the left pillar to make it move. Use
combination attacks with the Athena's Blades (L1+ [] or L1 + O). This will
make the tentacle move and give you some green orbs in the process. Notice
that there is a pressure switch in front of the pillar. Pick up the dead
Spartan's corpse from the middle of the area and place it on top of the
pressure switch in front of the left pillar. This will uncover the middle
portion of the area and make an updraft fly out from in between the bars. Jump
and glide in the updraft to float upward then glide toward the Kraken's head
and attack him in his forehead. Both the Athena's Blades ([] attacks) and the
Spear of Destiny ([] or /\ attacks) work well for hitting him in the air.

The Kraken will eventually stab the middle portion of the platform where the
updraft is protruding and get his tentacle stuck in the platform as the middle
section closes. Immediately run toward the front of the tentacle and climb it
(use Up + X) then aim upward while at the top and attack (/\ button) the top
portion of his tentacle.

The Kraken may eventually knock you off his tentacle, so you might to repeat
the above process over again. Once the hard portion in the middle of his
tentacle is shattered an icon will appear for you to finish that tentacle while
still grappled on. Press the O button when prompted to finish the tentacle.

The Kraken will get his second tentacle stuck in the left wall, so you will
need to jump up to it and cling on to it as if you were jumping to grab a
ceiling. Climb across to the hard portion and attack it (/\ button). Press
the O button when prompted once again to finish that tentacle.

Attacks (Phase #2):

Ground Beating: The Kraken smacks the ground in front of him in all areas.

How to avoid: Stand against the far wall across from him while in front of him.
Stay away from the middle area and he will not do this.

Tentacle Smash 2: The Kraken uncoils his tentacle from the platform and smashes
the ground below the tentacle three times. Each smash will reach further.
How to Avoid: Roll away right when you see his tentacle uncoil and move back
just a bit.

Acid Spit: The Kraken roars with a greenish liquid in its mouth then spits it
toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Once both tentacle claws have been cut off, the Kraken will become irritated
with you and eat the Spartan's corpse. He will unleash a mega ground beating
attack that will cover nearly every area of the platform except for the area
against the far wall directly in front of his head. Don't stand in the middle
area and you won't have to worry about this.

In order to damage him at this point, run over to either of his tentacles that
are wrapped around the side pillars and attack them. He will perform a smash
attack so you will need to roll back and move away just a bit to avoid it.
Don't get fully wrapped up in an attack while hitting his tentacle or you won't
escape in time. Try to make the attacks brief so you can roll away quickly.
The Kraken will start to fall once his first tentacle has been removed so run
over and hit the other tentacle very quickly. You don't have to worry about
avoiding his attacks when the first tentacle is uncoiled since he will be so
busy struggling to maintain his grip that he won't have time to attack. Use a
magic attack or Rage of the Titans at that point to make sure that you make him
uncoil the other tentacle. Keep in mind that both tentacles retain the damage
dealt to them, so you can attack one side quite a bit then run to the other
side and damage it fully and you'll only need to attack the remaining side a
few times.

Once both tentacles are off the pillars and the Kraken struggles to get back up
on the platform, quickly rush over to the newly uncovered switch in the middle
of the area and pull the switch to dish out one of the most severe final blows
in action gaming history!

Walk across the bridge leading to the Phoenix. You'll notice as you step over
the remains of your bloodshed that there is a --RED CHEST-- on the right of the
Phoenix and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- on the left. Notice that the Phoenix has a O
button icon above it. Walk up to it and press the O button to engage in an
Action Sequence.

Action Sequence

Kratos drives his blades into the legendary bird and @PULLS@ him off the
fire. While the bird is on the ground, Kratos runs up to it then [JUMPS]
and stabs it in the head. Kratos (WHIPS) the side of the bird's head
then (DRIVES) both of his blades into the back of its neck.

17. Temple of the Fates

Time is slowed in this particular area as if you just used the Amulet of the
Fates. Kratos will start out in the water. Swim up ahead and you'll find a
save point on the platform to the right. The first task here is to get rid of
the crystal that is slowing the time in this area. Swim over to the circular
platform in front of the stone sculpture of Lahkesis' face. You'll notice that
the R1 icon appears on the bottom of the screen while standing in front of her
face. Press R1 to grapple up to the platform with the crystal that is causing
time to slow. Destroy the crystal by attacking it to make time resume. This
will also allow you to use the Amulet of the Fates to slow time in this area
since the statue head has a glowing green stone in the middle of its forehead.
There is a --GREEN CHEST-- on the left side of the room if needed.

BELL PUZZLE

Start out by finding the blue lever below the platform where the crystal was.
Swim over to the lever and Kratos will be able to stand on the bottom half of
the platform. Push the lever so that the piece with the blue crystal on it
below the water moves over the groove below the platform. You should only have
to move it to the right just a bit. Jump into the water and pull the switch at
the very bottom of the platform. This will cause the circular piece up above
to move upward and lock in place with the smaller piece. Now you can turn the
platform using the lever on the bottom. Don't turn it just yet though since it
is set up perfectly for the next part of the puzzle.

Get up on the platform with the bell that has an image of Cronos on it and
press R1. Tap R1 and L1 to ring the bell. Quickly slow time with the Amulet
of the Fates then jump and run to the middle of the platform in front of the
statue head of Lahkesis. Grapple up to the platform where the crystal was and
press R1 while facing the bell ringer to have it slam into the bell. If done
correctly the statue head of Lahkesis will crack.

Jump below the platform with the bell ringer and rotate the lever so that the
bell ringer is facing the statue head in the back. Grapple back up to the
platform then stand facing the bell ringer and drive it straight into the
statue head to reveal a new path through the statue's face.

Before leaving the room, rotate the platform so that the bell ringer faces the
back left portion of the room then quickly slow time. The platform will not
stay in this position so slowing time is necessary when it starts to rotate
back into place. While time is slowed down, swim out toward the side of the
bell ringer then jump and wait for the R1 icon to appear so that you can
grapple back up to the platform. The camera angle is very unfriendly at this
point, so you will have to make the best of it and jump to the bell ringer and
follow it over to the --2 RED CHESTS-- and --UNMARKED CHEST-- on the left side.
You can also do the same task to retrieve some chest on the back right side.
Over there you will find --2 RED CHEST-- and an --UNMARKED CHEST-- also. Make
sure that you save your game before leaving this area!

Right after stepping through the face of the statue, look to the right to find
a --RED CHEST-- then look to the left to find another --RED CHEST--. These
were the chests that could be seen outside of this area. In the circular
corridor ahead, look for the --BLUE CHEST-- on the right side. Lift the gate
in the center and walk up the stairs.

The Throne of Lahkesis

Glide over to the platform with the mirrors on the side of it for a cutscene.

BOSS: LAHKESIS

Prepare for one hell of a battle!

Attacks (Phase #1):

Staff Combo: Lahkesis holds her staff to the side as green light glows from the
top. She floats toward Kratos and performs three strikes with her staff.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Energy Shot: Lahkesis holds her staff to the side as green light glows from the
top. She quickly fires an energy shot toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect. If you deflect, keep in mind that she can
reflect it right back at you and you can do the same until one character is hit
or dodges the attack.

Energy Shots: Lahkesis dodges through Kratos' attacks and moves to one side of
the platform. She holds back her staff and spins around then sends one wave of
three fireballs followed by another wave of fireballs.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect. Lahkesis will deflect these shots back just
like the other shots.

Energy Ball: Lahkesis dodges to the side while Kratos attack and leaves behind
an energy ball that explodes.

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Energy Shockwave: Lahkesis hovers toward Kratos then flies into the air and
prepares her attack. She flies downward and plunges her staff into the ground,
making a small shockwave around her.

How to avoid: Roll.

Lahkesis only has two primary attacks from the start of the battle as well as a
few counter attacks. At close range, she will try to hit Kratos with her
three-hit staff combo and at a distance, she will try to shoot a green energy
shot at Kratos. Kratos cannot block the energy shot, but he can deflect it
right back at her and get a very good amount of blue and green orbs in return.
You should learn the timing since deflecting this move will pay off big time.
Lahkesis is not a total sucker though. She will actually deflect the energy
shot right back at you to which you can respond with another deflection. Both
of you can be locked in a battle of deflection until one loses, or the shot is
dodged on your behalf. She will also let loose a counter blast of three energy
shots at a time to which you can deflect, but keep in mind that she will still
deflect sometimes. Her counter moves are some of her most deadly attacks so be
sure to watch her while she dodges.

Attack her with whichever weapon you feel comfortable with and if you are good
at deflection, you can spam magic all you want to since you can always get some
back by deflecting her energy shots. All magic attacks except for the Head of
Euryale are useful during this battle.

Once she has been weakened she will mainly stick with her Energy Shockwave
attack as her primary attack. Watch for her to suddenly move toward you then
jump to the air. She will only hit the area below her, so just roll away from
her at that point to escape the attack. She will very rarely shoot a single
energy blast at this time and will mainly rely on only dodge moves and the
Energy Shockwave.

Attacks (Phase #2):

Electric Floor: Lahkesis twirls her staff in front of her while flying then
strikes the floor with a green lightening bolt. This will electrify the entire
floor.

How to avoid: Grapple to any of the grapple points on the side of the room and
jump between them while avoiding her energy shots.

Downward Energy Shots: Lahkesis spins her staff while holding it upward and
unleashes energy shots that will rain down upon Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect. These can be deflected back at Lahkesis just
like any other energy shot.

When she releases orbs for the first time she will start to fly high in the
air. She will perform a whole new set of attacks at this time except for the
single hit energy shot. Her most deadly move at this stage is her electric
floor attack where she will electrify the whole floor. Grapple up to one of
the four grapple points found around the room. She will shoot energy shots
while you're grappled to a grapple point, so jump and grapple to the other
grapple points until the green glow fades away from the floor. You can jump
toward her and attack her as she shoots an energy shot then grapple back
without getting hit also (See Extra Note). One of the best ways to hit
Lahkesis during this phase is to deflect one of her energy shots at her. Keep
in mind that you can deflect the downward energy shots also. If it hits her,
she will fall to the ground and you will be free to wail on her as much as you
like until she recovers. Once she has been weakened enough to where the icon
appears over her head, you must grapple to the grapple point closest to her
then jump toward her and press the O button. A cutscene will begin once Kratos
delivers the final attack.

Extra Note: One way that I have found to totally take advantage of Lahkesis
while she flies is to grapple to a grapple point and wait for her to shoot an
energy shot. Right when she shoots, jump toward her and hit her with the /\
attack with the Athena's Blades then quickly grapple back when the move ends.
Do this again as she shoots the next fireball and keep doing it to get her in a
pattern that she will likely not break. She needs to be close in order for
this to work, but sometimes jumping toward her with a /\ attack from a grapple
point will lure her toward you.

BOSS: ATROPOS

This battle is just heating up!

Attacks:

Energy Shots: Atropos shots two energy shots toward Kratos from the
background. She will fire a single shot while up close.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect.

Energy Beam: Atropos floats next to the platform and shoots electricity onto
the sword to make a slight energy field in front of her while she tries to
destroy the sword.

How to avoid: Deflect or stay away.

Atropos will start the battle by summoning Sentries to attack. The Sentries
will be your main source of magic during this battle and you will need magic in
order to attack Atropos since she will basically always fly in the distance.
Target her with Typhon's Bane and shoot her when the Sentries are not grouped
all over you. Deflect her energy shots just like you did with Lahkesis. She
won't release orbs from a deflection like her sister though. Keep in mind that
her energy shots will follow you until they hit something, either the platform,
you, or your blades through deflection.

She will sometimes fly toward the large sword that you are on and either shoot
a single energy shot or create an energy field in front of her in her attempts
to try to destroy the sword. You can really rack up the hits at this time with
a combo attack against her, but you can only perform jumping attacks while she
performs her energy field and that is usually what she moves toward the
platform to do.

She will cycle between the above two phases throughout the battle and will not
change. Use Typhon's Bane while she flies in the background and Cronos' Rage
whenever she gets close. Don't try for jump hits too often when she performs
her energy field attack or you will suffer damage. The main attacks you have
to watch out for are her energy shots since they will follow you. It's really
good to deflect them. Keep in mind that this is a timed battle and each time
she hits the sword with her electricity beams when she flies nearby it will
damage the sword. If she destroys the sword then the battle is over. When she
weakens, she will lean on the side of the large sword with an icon over her
head.

Action Sequence

Kratos latches onto Atropos with his blades and tugs at her, but Atropos
starts to fly away. Kratos quickly [PLUNGES] one of his blades into her
chest making her fall on top of the large sword. He quickly [STABS] her
in the throat, performs a blade spin on her face, then [JUMPS] and
plunges his blade into her head.

Fun Fact: If Atropos manages to destroy the sword, an extra cutscene will take
place afterward that will change Kratos' fate.

BOSS: LAHKESIS & ATROPOS

Like I said, this is one hell of a battle!

Attacks (Atropos)

Energy Shot: Atropos will fire a green energy shot towards Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect.

Energy Beam: Atropos will start from one side and fire out an energy beam then
move it horizontally over the floor of the whole room.

How to avoid: Jump or grapple.

Now Kratos is back in the Temple of the Fates with Lahkesis. Atropos is
trapped in another time where the past Kratos is about to defeat Ares. Atropos
can still attack during this battle however. She will be able to get half of
herself through the mirror and will shoot energy shots and fire a beam.
Atropos will retreat back into the mirror each time Kratos approaches the
mirror that she is attacking from. You can also deflect her energy shot back
at her to make her instantly retreat.

Lahkesis will have the same exact attacks as the last fight for this battle,
but she will alternate between flying and simply floating near the ground. You
need to go after Lahkesis first of all. Use Cronos' Rage to put a constant
hurt on her and do not let up with your attacks. She will eventually fall to
the ground and lean over. Notice how her forehead glows at that time.

Quickly use the Amulet of the Fates as Lahkesis falls to the ground to slow
time and find the mirror that Atropos is hanging out of. Run toward the mirror
and attack Atropos as much as you can. She will fall over to the ground after
enough attacks and will retreat into the mirror at it cracks. Use constant
attacks once time resumes while the mirror is cracked to shatter the mirror
permanently. Fail to break the mirror in time and it will renew itself and you
will need to go through the whole sequence again.

Lahkesis will attack once again as the mirror breaks. Go back to wearing
Lahkesis down once again until she falls then quickly use the Amulet of the
Fates and find Atropos' mirror once again.

Attacks: (after 2 mirrors are destroyed)

Energy Pillars: Lahkesis summons electricity all around her then releases it in
flying pillars toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Stand between the waves.

Energy Gust: Lahkesis summons electricity around her that will stay for a few
seconds.

How to avoid: Stay away from her immediate area.

Once there is only one mirror left, Lahkesis will float over to it and stand in
front of it to protect the mirror. She will perform a few new attacks at this
time in an effort to guard the final mirror. Atropos will not attack at all
during this phase. Be sure to roll away from Lahkesis when she unleashes an
energy gust around her and it starts to stack up into pillars. She will
unleash several energy pillars at that time and you must stand in between them
in order to avoid them. She will also still shoot her energy shots, but she
will shoot more of them at a time. Reflect her energy shots from a distance to
help out in damaging her. Lay out Cronos' Rage orbs near her and attack her
from about mid range just in case she performs her energy pillar move. Once
she falls, she will have an icon over her head, so quickly tap the O button to
start the Action Sequence.

Action Sequence

Kratos leans toward her and picks up her staff then [LEANS BACK] and hits
her on the back with it while she tries to get up. Kratos picks her up
and throw her to the middle of the room. Atropos crawls out from the
mirror behind Kratos and grabs him. Lahkesis recovers then readies her
staff. Kratos [NOTICES] the attack and quickly breaks out of Atropos'
grip and grapples to the side grapple point as Lahkesis flies toward
Atropos and stabs her with the staff. Kratos [SWINGS] toward Lahkesis
and grabs her then holds her and [STABS] her directly in the forehead
with his blade. Kratos pulls out his blade then pushes her into the
mirror to join her sister.

Now that both sisters are in the mirror, you must break it to end the fight.
The interesting aspect about this part of the battle is that you can take all
the time you want to gloat in your victory before breaking the mirror. The
mirror is broken and they cannot fix it. Go get yourself a soda and take a
restroom break while the game remains unpaused then come back and shatter the
mirror to end the battle.

Fun Fact: You can still use the Amulet of the Fates while the two are trapped
in the mirror. Time will instantly resume, but it still amuses me that it
actually works at that point.

18. The Inner Sanctum

Shattering the mirror will actually reveal the next area. Walk down the hall
and save your game at the save point. Jump into the pool on each side and find
the --RED CHEST-- on the left and --UNMARKED CHEST-- containing a ++PHOENIX
FEATHER++ on the right - look in the small space up under the platform with the
save point.

Take some time to examine the murals on the sides of the wall in the room with
many pillars up ahead. Scale the climbable wall across from the entrance then
transition to the ceiling. Climb all the way over to the corridor with the
platform in front of it and drop to the platform. You probably noticed the
chests along both sides of the top of this room. From the platform that you
landed on, you can double jump and glide over to each of them to find a total
of --4 RED CHESTS--. Kratos will just barely make it to each one while gliding
after a double jump.

At the end of the corridor, Clotho will speak to Kratos. Find the cracked
portion of the wall to the right and break through it with attacks. On the way
down this walkway you will face off against many waves of enemies as the paths
seal off.

Wave #1

Cursed Legionnaires and Juggernauts

Time your deflection just right with the Cursed Legionnaires and you can use
them to your advantage to get the whole group of from crowding around - use the
Revenge ([]) counter after a deflection. Notice how the energy seals rise and
fall. You can use the seals to your advantage by leading enemies away from the
group and trapping them on the other side as the seal reforms. Lead the Cursed
Legionnaires away from the Juggernauts in order to defeat them first. Keep in
mind that you can hit an enemy through the seals sometimes. The final hit of
Plume of Prometheus ([], [], /\) with the Athena's Blade works well at times.
Keep your distance from the Juggernauts and use the Head of Euryale's Gorgon
Flash (L2 + /\) to quickly stone them if needed. With the Head of Euryale, you
could actually defeat the Juggernauts first, but it is your choice to choose
the greater of two evils to defeat first. This is one of the best waves to use
Rage of the Titans on since the other two can be beaten without it without too
much trouble.

Wave #2

Cursed Legionnaires and Sentries

These enemies aren't that bad at all compared to what you just got through
with. The deflection + Revenge combination with the Golden Fleece works even
better at this part since it will knock away all enemies. Perform combos with
the Athena's Blades while turning to all sides and remember that the
Legionnaires will block your hits at times so always be ready for their lunge
attack. An air Tartarus Rage (L1 + /\) works extremely well for this wave if
you have your Athena's Blades fully powered.

Wave #3

Gorgons and Sirens

You'll come upon a --GREEN CHEST-- and a --BLUE CHEST-- once the seals appear
and third wave of enemies rise from the ground. It is a good idea to use the
disappearing and reappearing seals to your advantage for opening the chests if
you need them badly. Trap all enemies on one side as you scramble for the
chests.

Deflection with the Golden Fleece is a godsend for this battle. Deflect the
Gorgon's Gaze and press the button that appears on the screen to stone all
nearby enemies. Shatter them quickly while they are stoned and this wave will
not be much of a problem. Use Atlas Quake on all stoned enemies and that
should be enough to shatter them all. These red Gorgons are extremely quick
and will easily dodge and attack with counters, so keep the attacks to a
minimum and rely mainly on deflection. Playing around with Gorgon Gazes can be
deadly though, so be ready to shake out just in case you miss the button tap
during the deflection sequence. An Atlas Quake or Cronos' Rage orb is good for
getting all enemies off of you for a few seconds.

Wave #4

Cursed Legionnaires

You'll come upon a --REPLENISHER CHEST-- further down the path, but don't use
it unless you really need it. A little bit after that, the fourth wave will
appear. Use Tartarus Rage to quickly pound through them if you're fully
leveled. Atlas Quake works well for shaking up the whole crowd also.

Wave #5

Satyrs and Minotaurs

If your Athena's Blades are fully maxed, it should take a bunch off the Satyrs
and kill them quickly. The only problem is hitting them at times however. Use
Trembling Earth while Atlas Quake is fully leveled to damage all the enemies
very quickly. Other than that, you just have to separate them as much as you
can and take down the Satyrs first. Rage of the Titans doesn't help out much
here.

Wave #6

Cursed Legionnaires and Sentries

Much like the other battle with them, use Tarturas Rage and Atlas Quake (if
needed).

Wave #7

Cyclops, Cursed Legionnaires, and Sentries

Well-timed rolling helps out a lot for this battle since grouped Cyclops can be
very unfriendly. You really need to have Atlas Quake at max for its Trembling
Earth attack here, but constant uses of Plume of Prometheus with the Athena's
Blades works very well if you can keep your distance from the Cyclops. If you
want to take out a Cyclops very quickly stone them with the Head of Euryale
followed by a Plume of Prometheus with the Athena's Blades. There is a --GREEN
CHEST-- and a --BLUE CHEST-- on the far right wall.

A save point will appear and the blue door will activate once all enemies are
defeated. Hit the door on the sides to make the figure's hands rise then
quickly rotate the gears on both sides of the door to unlatch the locks. Open
the door by grabbing it like all others and Gaia will speak as you open it.

Loom Chamber

FIRST FLOOR PUZZLE

Carefully move past the swinging pendulums on the bridge. Clotho has many arms
all over her body that you will need to attack and stun in order to keep them
from grabbing you. Be forewarned that they will not stay down. Start on the
left side by attacking the arm then rotating the lever in the back. This will
open the alcove up above with the --GREEN CHEST--. Attack the arm again since
it will have recovered by now. Quickly climb on top of the stairs that lead
upwards on the left side and double jump then glide over to the alcove with the
chest. Find the climbable wall on the left side of the alcove (with the wood
pieces) and start to scale it. Transition to the ceiling and climb toward the
right side.

While climbing over to the right side, the hand below will grab Kratos, but
shake the analog from left to right and he will break free then cling back onto
the wall. Attack the webbed bodies that are stuck to the pillars in the door
then fall below. Her hand will stay down on the right side. Rotate the lever
to open the door up above that used to be jammed with webbed bodies. Move up
the stairs nearby and jump then glide to the newly opened right alcove that
contains the --REPLENISHER CHEST--. Climb up the hanging thread and the camera
will show you a view of the next floor.

SECOND FLOOR PUZZLE

This floor is just a bit more complicated. Still nothing major though.

Arm #1: Move to the right side and attack the arm along the way. Find the
switch that is surrounded with a spiky railing up ahead. Pull the switch to
make a secret area under the floor below the arm open up. Attack the arm and
make it fall down into the secret area if it revives then fall down in it
yourself and open the --RED CHEST-- inside. The arm will remain stunned only
for a short while so open the chest quickly. Attack the arm again to stun it
then run back to the switch that opened this door. Pull the switch to make the
doors of the secret area close and trap the arm inside. Grab the handle of the
device to the side and keep pulling it until a small blue light on the side of
the platform below lights up. This will keep the device locked into place at
that portion.

Arm #2: Once the second arm is reached, attack it then quickly grab onto the
large thread to the left of it and climb it. Hop onto the hanging platform to
the side of the thread and pull the switch on the platform to make the blade
hanging on the thread up above fall down and impale the hand of the arm (the
arm must be stunned). Jump off of the platform and grab the device then pull
it to the next blue light to lock it into place once again.

Arm #3: Attack the arm that is further to the right then quickly grab the
device and pull it past the stunned arm. Just in case the hand slaps you there
is another blue light portion that will lock it into place near the arm. Pull
the device up under the set of hanging hands (make sure there are two hand) on
the right side past the arm. Step on the little pressure plate in the middle
of the device and this will connect a spear to the device. Run back to the
left and attack the arm then push the device over to the locked position in
front of the arm. The arm will revive yet again even as the device is locked
into place, but attack the arm once more time and the hand of the arm will get
stuck in the spear as the arm is thrown up and the spear will fall and pin the
hand to the floor.

Our work here is done! Climb the thread that the spear was hanging from and
jump to the hanging platform to the left with the switch on it. You may need
to double jump then grab the thread. Pull the switch at the top to ride up to
the top half of Clotho.

BOSS: CLOTHO

Attacks:

Arm Smash and Swing: Clotho smashes the side of the platform with one of her
arms then swings her arm toward Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll, move away (first hit), jump (second hit)

Arm Pound: Clotho punches her fist directly into the front portion of the
platform creating a small tremor in the immediate area.

How to avoid: Roll, move away from the arm, jump (not directly under the arm),
deflect

This battle is more of a puzzle then an actual battle. Go ahead and use the
Amulet of the Fates to slow time. You'll need to be close to each Fate statue
in order to freeze time. As you can see, you want have any problems attacking
her, but attacking her arms will only stun her for a few seconds. The two
switches around the area will lift up a dead body that you can shatter for tons
of greens orbs - keep this in mind if she ever starts to damage you too badly.
You can also stun her arms by attacking them constantly and she will release a
few orbs from that also.

Attack her left arm from the right side to stun it then quickly grab onto the
climbable wall to the right of the sealed doorway. Transition to the ceiling
up above then to the wall high up above the sealed door. She can't hit you up
here so don't worry if her hand revives. Attack the webbed bodies on the side
of the device below. Hold to the right and swing. Fall down below and stun
her left arm once again. Quickly push or pull the device to the left so that
it matches up with the third light on the platform below. Run over to the
switch that the device was connected to. It should be in front of Clotho by
now. You need to slow time and stun both arms in order to pull the switch.
Once both arms are stunned, pull the switch and it will raise one of the
pendulums from the floor below. Walk up to the pendulum and press the R1
button when the icon appears. Rotate the pendulum so that one of the side
blades is pointing directly toward Clotho's head. Grab the back of the
pendulum and pull it backwards until an action sequence starts.

Action Sequence

Kratos [LATCHES] onto the pendulum with one of his blades as he dodges a
swing from Clotho. He quickly jumps on the pendulum and rides it toward
her then stabs onto her chest. Kratos [JUMPS] into the air and latches
onto the pendulum again with his blades. He lands on top of Clotho's
head and @PULLS@ the pendulum toward her as she latches onto it and holds
it back, but Kratos eventually overpowers her and yanks the pendulum
toward her head stabbing her directly in the side of the skull as he
jumps off.

Now nothing is standing in your way of changing your destiny! Walk through
either door on the side of Clotho's corpse and pull the switch on the lift in
the back of the corridor. Jump into the pool of water up ahead and swim under
the first gate then surface and jump to the platform on the right to find a
--GREEN CHEST--. Swim under then next gate then hop out of the water and
follow the corridor around the corner. A save point will be waiting beside the
mirror up ahead.

KRATOS' THREAD PUZZLE

Pull the switch to the side to line up some threads below. Return to the
bottom. Find the proper thread that aligns with Kratos' destiny. Choosing the
wrong thread will shatter the mirror, but it will reform. The correct thread
is the one to the right of the switch that you pulled to raise the pendulum.
You'll need to tap the O button to pull the thread all the way up. Notice that
the image on the back mirror will cycle through portions of time involving
Kratos' journey in reaching the Island of Creation as it rewinds back to the
point right before Zeus stabbed him.

Once the mirror is set, a timer will appear in the upper right hand corner
starting at thirty seconds. The instant Kratos lets go of the thread run to
the right then slow time with the Amulet of the Fates. Run through the right
doorway and make your way toward the lift. Once you pull the switch to the
lift time will resume. When the lift reaches the top, swim through the pool of
water and make your way to the switch in front of the mirror. Jump through the
mirror to activate a cutscene.

19. The Summit of Sacrifice

BOSS: ZEUS

Now it's time to finish that battle from earlier where Zeus had an unfair
advantage. For this battle, Kratos will have the Blade of Olympus equipped.

Attacks (Phase #1):

Tremor: Zeus holds both arms out to the side then pounds on the side of the
platform creating a tremor throughout the entire platform.

How to avoid: Double jump and glide.

Thunderbolt Toss: Zeus tosses a thunderbolt directly toward either the middle
or one of the side areas of the platform. The resulting tremor from the
thunderbolt is the portion of the attack that can actually hit Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll or jump.

Platform Pound: Zeus will slam his hand into the platform after being stunned
by a Siren.

How to avoid: Roll or jump.

The battle will start with Zeus in giant form. He will place both hands on the
summit that you are on and summon Sirens to attack you. Little does he know
that the Sirens will be used to Kratos' advantage. Weaken the Sirens with
Cronos' Rage or just use Trembling Earth with Atlas Quake to quickly make the
icons appear over their heads. Grab a Siren to finish it off. As Kratos kills
off each Siren, its piercing scream will stun Zeus and make him pound the
platform. Keep in mind that the shockwave from the platform pound can hit you
so be ready to jump or roll. Run up to his hand and hit it with the Blade of
Olympus. The Sirens can really cause you to take damage if they stun you with
one of their screams, so always try to defeat them quickly.

Keep in mind that magic is not an issue during this battle since the Sirens
will release blue orbs upon death and Zeus will release blue orbs after being
stunned from a Siren scream. Kratos is invulnerable during the Siren's death
animation (once he grabs them) or during the use of Trembling Earth with Atlas
Quake, so be sure to use these factors to your advantage.

Once Zeus's arm falls to the platform and an icon appears rush up to him to
start an action sequence.

Attacks (Phase #2)

Punch Combo: Zeus rushes toward Kratos and performs two punches to the gut then
holds both hands upwards and lets loose an earth shattering overhead.
Sometimes he will perform a sliding punch to start this combination.

How to avoid: Block (first 2 punches of the combo only), roll, or deflect
(first two punches only).

Sliding Punch: Zeus leans over and charges a punch then slides toward Kratos
with a punch to the gut. If this connects, he will go right into his punch
combo.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect (You CANNOT block this).

Thunderbolt: Zeus holds up a thunderbolt in his hand then hurls two
thunderbolts at Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll or deflect (deflection is highly recommended).

Thunderbolt Wave: Zeus holds up both hands and collects lightening charge from
the heavens then pounds the ground in front of him before sending out a
thunderbolt wave.

How to avoid: Block (thunderbolt wave only), jump, roll, deflect (thunderbolt
wave only)

Zeus will shrink down to Kratos' size for this battle, but he is much more
deadly this time around. His attacks are very quick at this time and only some
portions of each move are unblockable. When he darts in with a combo, block
the first two hits and roll away from the ground pound. When he collects
lightening from the sky, back off and block or jump over the thunderbolt wave
that he sends toward you. Kratos can deflect his normal thunderbolts and gain
some orbs in return; otherwise, get ready to roll away and possibly get hit as
Zeus throws them. Keep in mind that his thunderbolts will be his main move
when you are mid distance from him. Deflection MUST be used on higher
difficulties.

Zeus will be dodging back and forth the whole time between attacks. It is a
good idea to place Cronos' Rage orbs around the area to stop him from his
dodging then hit him while he is stunned. You can literally trap him with this
magic so Cronos' Rage will be your best magic for this battle. Have it maxed
out if you have the spare red orbs. Zeus is still fairly easy to hit even
without the use of magic, though you must watch as he prepares an attack since
normal attacks will not stun him that often.

Zeus will eventually unleash a whole bunch of orbs then he will grab Kratos and
steal the Blade of Olympus from Kratos' grasp.

Fun Fact: Zeus has to hit Kratos with his sliding punch in order to steal the
Blade of Olympus from him. If you can continue to dodge this move, he will
keep performing his sliding punch in an attempt to steal the blade.

Attacks (Phase #3)

Sword Swing Combo: Zeus will swing the Blade of Olympus twice as he moves
toward Kratos (one upward swing, one horizontal swing).

How to avoid: Block, roll, or deflect.

Lightening Slice: Zeus will hold his sword toward the heavens and charge it
with energy then swing it downward at Kratos as it unleashes a lightening wave.

How to avoid: Roll.

Jumping Overhead Swing: Zeus will jump toward Kratos and perform an overhead
strike that sends a wave of lightening at him.

How to avoid: Roll.

Lightening Shot: Zeus extends his blade toward Kratos and holds it in place for
a few seconds then swings the blade and sends a lightening shot towards Kratos.

How to avoid: Roll.

Kratos is forced to use his Athena's Blades during the bout. It doesn't matter
though, because Cronos' Rage will still keep Zeus just as stunned as it did
back then. All of his moves except for the blade combo require Kratos to roll
in order to avoid taking damage so I would recommend that you keep your thumb
close to that right analog for this portion of the battle. Zeus will block
while he has the blade in his grasp so you will be forced to hit him while he
recovers from his moves a bunch in order to hit him most of the time, but this
is not always required. When he weakens, he will stagger forward and swing the
blade blindly (this can hit you) then a O button icon will appear above his
head. Run toward him and press the button to steal the Blade of Olympus back
from him.

Action Sequence

Kratos grapples the Blade of Olympus then flips over Zeus while still
holding the blade and >>STRUGGLES<< to break the blade from Zeus' grip as
he talks to the Zeus.

Kratos will kick Zeus into the pillars off to the side. Run over to the set of
pillars that Kratos kicked Zeus into and press R1 near the shiny portion of the
pillar to the side of Zeus.

The battle will continue the same way it was at the beginning with Kratos
fighting Zeus at normal size while Kratos has the Blade of Olympus. The same
tactics work here as they did in the prior battle with the Blade of Olympus.
Zeus will once again steal the Blade of Olympus after he releases several orbs.
He will summon lightening spheres around himself and these will hit Kratos if
he comes in contact with Zeus or if he tries to hit Zeus. Unleash Rage of the
Titans at this point and attack Zeus. Zeus will release several orbs once
again and stagger. An icon will appear signaling you to press the O button
near him. The same Action Sequence will appear as the last time (with a
different ending mind you). Zeus will fly toward the pillars on the other side
of the platform. Rush over to the shiny pillar during that time and press the
R1 button to finish this phase of the battle.

Phase #4

Kratos will be free to move once again as Zeus flies off the platform and
emerges in giant form once again. When Zeus starts to electrify the entire
platform an action sequence will trigger.

Action Sequence

Kratos >>STRUGGLES<< to maintain himself against Zeus' overwhelming power
and eventually gives up and surrenders with the phrase "I lay down my
arms, Zeus!" Zeus is shocked in Kratos decision as he shrinks back down
to Kratos' size. Kratos sticks the blade into the ground then turns and
walk away as Zeus descends to the platform. Kratos gets down on his
knees with his back turned to Zeus as Zeus lands behind him. "Release me
from this torment of mine", Kratos says as Zeus picks up the blade and
replies "I will release you from your life my son, but you're torment is
just beginning". Kratos [CLICKS] at this point as Zeus raises the sword
but Kratos turns to quickly deflect the blade with his Golden Fleece as
he steps toward Zeus and [GRABS] the back of his head then stabs Zeus in
the chest with an Athena's Blade. Kratos pulls the blade out of Zeus'
chest and kicks him toward a pillar then [WALKS] over to him and grabs
Zeus hand that holds the Blade of Olympus. Kratos breaks the arm of the
god making him release the blade then drives Zeus' head into a pillar and
smears his head into another. Zeus lifts up his head and starts to reach
for the blade, but Kratos [GRABS] Zeus' hand and holds up an Athena's
Blade then stabs the god's hand as it falls against a piece of debris,
confining Zeus' hand to the wall. Kratos quickly stabs Zeus' other hand
into the wall with his other Athena's Blade. Kratos picks up the Blade
of Olympus and starts to walk away then, as Zeus starts to break free
from his confines, Kratos readies the Blade and starts to plunge it into
Zeus' chest. Zeus' grabs the Blade of Olympus with one arm and starts to
>>STRUGGLE<< with Kratos. Zeus manages to knock away the blade slightly
but Kratos quickly responds by driving the blade right through Zeus'
chest. Kratos jerks the blade inward and outward as the stab he has
waited so long to deliver has finally found its mark. Kratos continues
to grasp the blade while looking down at Zeus and is most likely thinking
to himself, "Your powers are weak, old man".

A cutscene will start right after the action sequence.

20. The Loom chamber

Kratos now arrives back in the chamber via the mirror as it starts to crumble. There is still one last thing to do! Run to the bottom of the chamber and pull on Kratos' thread once again (to the right of the switch). Run back and slow time once again just like before. Jump back into the mirror at the top before the timer stops and the final cutscenes of the game will take place.

Watch the wonderful ending then go out and start saving for the next God of War. You know you want to after that!
