Cecil
Cecil is the commander of Baron's fleet of military airships, the Red Wings. He
was raised by the King of Baron, along with his best friend Kain, and taught to
master the Dark Sword, and become a Dark Knight. Although having been forced
into the position of Dark Knight, Cecil's heart is still kind and bright, and he
doesn't agree with the king's methods of attaining the crystals. After
questioning the king, he is suspended from the Red Wings, and ends up setting
out on a journey of his own.
Cecil's character is shrouded in the mystery of his past, and the events to come
in the future are the only thing to bring everything into perspective. He is a
strong character, and definetely an asset to your party. While his curative
magic isn't very developed, his attacks are extremely strong, and he can bring
down almost anything when trained properly.
| Skill |
Description |
| Dark |
Cecil can only use this attack when he is a dark knight. He shoots a
wave of dark energy through his sword at all the enemies on the field. It's
most effective against a large group of weaker enemies. |
| Cover |
As a paladin, Cecil's true heroic side shines through, when he uses
Cover, he shields his allies from attacks. He jumps in front of them, and
takes some damage in their place. |
| White |
Another skill Cecil gains as a paladin is the ability to heal his
allies. Although his white magic skills aren't all that strong, they are
still an asset to the party, because healing skills are always useful! |

Cid
Passionate about the skies, and everything to do with them, Cid is the
inventor of the airships in the world of Final Fantasy 4. He deciphered the
ancient writings of Baron, and learned the skill of levitation, then combined
this with his knowledge of aeronautics, and eventually developed an airship.
Needless to say, Cid is a pretty handy guy to have around. He's also really
close to Cecil, having only one daughter, he treats Cecil as if he were his son.
He likes to be around young people, and so always liked to have Cecil around
when he was younger, and still does.
Cid is very loud and open with what's on his mind. He is upset that his airships
are being used for military purposes, and likes to tell high officials
exactly what's on his mind. This often results in his daughter having to
bail him out of whatever trouble he's gotten himself into. His physical attacks
are pretty strong, and he can use his Study ability to see the weaknesses and HP
of the enemy.
| Skill |
Description |
| Peep |
Peep allows you to look at the enemies' HP and MP, and also any
weaknesses that they may have. It's Cid's only ability, but it can be quite
useful at times. |

Edge
Edge is the prince of Eblan, and the only successor to the throne. The royal
family of Eblan has passed down the secrets and traditions of ninjutsu for
generations, making Edge's battle class pretty obvious. Edge hates losing
anything, or feeling restrained in life, and is a very confident man. He's also
quite the womanizer. He acts recklessly sometimes, but since he has an
unwavering sense of justice, he is not easily manipulated by strongly
influential people.
Edge is a ninja. I believe that this statement is enough to give anyone a pretty
good idea of his strengths in battle. He's quick, can evade most attacks,
strong, and has cool ninja abilities. Edge is definetely one of the strongest
characters in the game. Although he is outwardly strong and confident, Edge
actually does have a kind-hearted personality behind the tough exterior.
| Skill |
Description |
| Ninja Magic |
A special type of magic that was passed down by the line of ninjas. Some
of the spells are very similar to things that can be casted in black and
white magic. |
| Steal |
As the name implies, Edge will steal items from the enemies. It can be
quite useful in getting some rare items in the game. |
| Throw |
Allows Edge to throw weapons and items from your inventory at the enemy.
This attack can inflict quite a bit of damage, and sometimes can decide the
outcome of a battle. |

Edward
Edward is the Prince of Damcyan, and also the 'spoony bard' that Tellah's
daughter Anna ran away with. He was brought up in a peaceful kingdom, and grew
up to be a mild-mannered man. He's also somewhat of a wuss, and a weakling, is
also peaceful, and doesn't like to fight. He dislikes his royal status, and
prefers to live in freedom as a wandering bard. (Hence I call him Bard-boy) His
softheartedness may end up to be his downfall. He finally got a taste of reality
when his beloved Anna died, leaving him alone, with nothing. This helped him
realize that he would finally need to work up some courage and fight for
himself, as well as his kingdom and his beloved. (Especially when Rydia, a
seven year old girl told him to keep his hopes up, and basically, get a
backbone.)
Edward is almost completely useless in battle, his attacks are weak, and his
special abilities are not much help to the party either. He can sing, which will
either silence the enemy or put them to sleep, but it doesn't always work. Or he
can split a potion between all the members of the party, for very little
recovery. His worst option is Hide, where he does just that; he runs from battle
until you call him back. He automatically does it when his HP is low, so then
you can't even heal him, which is quite a hindrance.
| Skill |
Description |
| Sing |
Edward plays his harp and does his bard-ly duty, he sings to put various
status effects on the enemies. It's not as useless as it may seem though. |
| Hide |
Just as the name implies, Edward hides himself from battle. (He's so
useless!) He won't take any damage this way, but he also can't attack or be
healed. |
| Heal |
Tkaes a potion from your inventory and splits it between all your
characters in the party. It's kind of useless, as the HP restore is minimal,
and it uses up potions like crazy. |

FuSoYa
He is an entity of unknown origin, and almost everything surrounding him is a
mystery. He somehow knows everything about the terrible battles present
throughout the earth, the dark conspiracies of a villain, and the distress of a
young man's heart. He watches the conflict unfold between the two key figures,
which will ultimately unseal the legendary path.
FuSoYa is a Lunarian possessing phenomenal magical prowess. He can use both
black and white magic spells, along with his special ability Regen, which
regenerates the entire party's HP over a certain amount of time. FuSoYa is a
mystery, but a very strong one.
| Skill |
Description |
| White |
FuYoSa is another one of the great magic users of the game, who comes
fully loaded with every white magic spell there is to know. Great healing
capabilities! |
| Black |
As he has every white magic spell, he also has a complete list of black
magic spells. He may be quite weak phsically, but he has a strong arsenal of
magicks. |
| Regen |
Casts Regen on the entire party, which slowly restores their HP over
time. It's only temporary, though, and will wear off after a few rounds. |
|
|
Kain
Kain, Cecil's best friend and rival, is the commanding officer of the Dragon
Knights, also known as Dragoons. The Dragoons are a military squad noted for
their abilities to control dragons and fight in the air. Kain was also urged to
take up the Dark Sword alongside Cecil, but he refused. When he was young, Kain
lost his father, who was also a Dragoon, and so he remains a Dragoon to uphold
his father's honour, and because it makes him feel closer to him.
Kain seems to want to follow Cecil on his rebellion against Baron, but he is
easily swayed, and often even questions his own loyalty. He cares strongly for
Rosa, which brings about tense situations at times, because of the ongoing love
triangle between him, Rosa and Cecil. Kain's Dragoon technique, 'jump' boosts
him high up into the air, to come down on an enemy full force at a later turn.
| Skill |
Description |
| Jump |
Like the mighty flying dragons, Kain boosts himself high into the air,
out of the reach of the enemies, only to come crashing down on them in a few
turns. A very useful move, because Kain evades damage at the same time as
dealing a harsh blow to the enemy! |

Palom
The twins, Palom and Porom started learning different types of magic at a
very early age, and they both learned at an incredibly fast pace. Their kind of
learning ability was like that of wizards of ancient times, and their parents
were astounded with their talent. They were taken to the village elder, a great
Mysidian wizard, to get further training.
Palom is the younger of the twins, (by only a minute!) and he acts it every
minute! He's restless and quite ill-mannered, and often likes to make
inappropriate jokes. He's almost always up to mischief, and often gets in
trouble for playing pranks on the village elder.
Porom is the exact opposite of her brother, always polite and calm about things.
She often has to keep Palom in line, and bops him on the head frequently. She is
also quite mature for her age.
As a pair, Palom and Porom couldn't be any less alike. Their abilities also
reflect this. Palom is a black mage, mastering the power of destructive magic,
while Porom's abilities lie in the power of healing and restorative white magic.
Although, despite their differences, the twins are practically inseperable, and
their team attacks really pack a punch! Their Twin magic attack takes a long
time to charge up for use, but the outcome is well worth the wait!
| Skill |
Description |
| White(Porom) |
Porom is also a great white mage, who is a big help in healing and
aiding the team. She can learn all the white magic spells, which range from
HP restoration to status recovery. |
| Cry (Porom) |
Porom pretends to cry, which apparently flusters the enemy. While
seeming to do nothing, it actually makes it easier to escape from battle. |
| Black (Palom) |
Yet another mage of destruction, Palom is able to learn every black
magic spell in the game. From demolishing the enemy with powerful blasts of
elemental power, to casting power-draining status effects. |
| Bluff (Palom) |
Using the ability Bluff, Palom is able to boost his magic power, which
makes his spells even stronger! |
| Twin (both) |
Palom and Porom syncronize their attack so that they can cast a huge
spell on the enemies as a team. The only drawbacks to it is that it takes
awhile for them to charge, and that if one of them dies while charging, then
the other will keep charging, but not be able to attack. |

Rosa
Rosa was born and raised in a noble family, and grew up with Cecil and Kain.
She follows in the footsteps of her mother, who once fought for Baron as a White
Mage. She studies white magic for the soul purpose of being able to help Cecil.
Just as her mother and father fought alongside, she wishes to fight with Cecil.
Rosa can be seen as weak, or a coward, largely because you spend large amounts
of time trying to save her from various things she gets herself involved with.
But Rosa has a strong will and adamant side to her that even surprises Cecil at
times.
Rosa recieved special education in archery at a young age, making her archery
skills second to none. This makes her an asset in battles against flying beasts,
and those weak against projectile weapons. Also, her strong White Magic spells
are irreplacable. Along with the great curative magic, she also has support
magics such as Haste and Berserk.
| Skill |
Description |
| White |
Rosa is the ultimate white mage in the game, and her white magic arsenal
shows it! Rosa can learn every spell in the game, and her healing powers are
exceptional. |
| Pray |
An ability that doesn't often follow through, but since it doesn't cost
any MP, it doesn't affect you all that much. When sucessful, it heals some
of all of the character's HP. |
| Aim |
Rosa uses her bow and arrows to aim a shot at the enemy, which raises
her accuracy by a certain amount. |
|
|
Rydia
Rydia was born a summoner of pure blood in Mist village. Her birth was
celebrated by the entire village, and she was raised with care by everyone.
Every summoner has a monster that they can relate with, and when that monster
dies, then they too will die. This is how Rydia lost her mother, and ended up
joining Cecil on his journey. Cecil felt a great deal of remorse for what had
happened to Rydia's mother, and so he took her in and promised to protect her.
Rydia, although young, is very mature for her age. Her honest, cheerful and
couragous personality lifts the party's spirits and helps them through tough
times.
She has the magical ability to summon beasts, and can also cast black and white
magic spells. Young girls make the best summoners, because the entities that the
summoners connect with are more trusting of those who are pure of heart. Rydia's
innocence and purity helps boost her summoning power alot. Along with her small
knowledge in white and black magic, she may not pack much of a punch in attack
power, but she could very well be the deciding factor in battle.
| Skill |
Description |
| Summon |
Calling great beasts and beautiful deities to aid in battle, little
Rydia can sure pack a punch when it comes down to using special abilities!
Summoning is easily one of the most helpful abilities in the game. |
| White |
Rydia is pretty much the ultimate magic user in FFIV, because she can
use all 3 different classes of magic. Although her arsenal in white isn't
complete, it does come in real handy, especially in the early stages of the
game. |
| Black |
To complete the magic user's round, Rydia also has the ability to cast
black magic spells. Her black magic abilities are far more advanced than
that of her white, making this ability more useful to her. Although, with
the summons to use as attacks, her black magic may not be used all too
often. |

Tellah
Born in the town of mages, Tellah is a renowned sage, even among the highest
mages. He managed to decipher numerous ancient magic scrolls, from which he
learned great magic, but one day he completely lost control of his magic, and
harmed many mages as a result. After this incident, Tellah left Mysidia. He
ended up marrying a girl from a nearby village, and together, they had their
daughter, Anna. When his wife died, he devoted all his attention to Anna, and
has a tendency to be over protective and react harshly when anything seems
threatening to Anna. A prime example is when Anna eloped with a Bard he did not
approve of.
Over time, Tellah forgot most of the spells he once knew, making him a much
weaker version of the sage he once was. When you first meet up with him, he only
knows a fraction of all the spells he has the potential of using, but it's all a
matter of time before that changes. Tellah will remember all his spells, and
have use of them all again, with the exception of the mighty Meteo. He is the
ultimate mage in the party, having use of every spell in the black and white
magic arsenal. He is definetely an asset to the party!
| Skill |
Description |
| Black |
Tellah is a master of magic. He can cast every black and white magic
spell in the arsenal, but he is more often considered a black mage than a
white one. Once he gets all his spells back, his balck magic will be a force
to be reconed with! |
| White |
Although not used as much, Tellah does have every white magic spell in
the game. It's always good to have multiple characters with healing powers,
so Tellah's white magic ability will definetely be useful! |
| Recall |
Tellah can only use this ability before he regains all of his spells.
This ability allows him to recall one of the spells he once knew, and cast
it in battle. It's totally random though, so the result can be anything. |
|
|
Yang
Yang is a naturally quiet man, who doesn't say much of anything unless it's
necessary he does so. He joins the party after an attack is made on his home
country of Fabul. As the leader of the Monks of Fabul, he is obviously a very
powerful ally, and it also means that underneath his quiet exterior, he must
have a strong nature, and a powerful soul.
His fighting style uses fists and claws rather than swords, and he is very
disciplined and well-mannered despite his strength. He doesn't bask in his
glory, which makes him all the more a likeable character. His powerful fist
attacks allow him to hit twice in battle, or he can hit every enemy with a
strong kick attack. His attacks aren't the strongest in the game, but they are
right up there near the top. He also has the ability Endurance, which halves
physical attack damage.
| Skill |
Description |
| Power |
Takes one turn to charge up, and then attacks on the next turn for
double damage! It's not the most practical move though, because if you
didn't use the extra turn to charge, you could have attacked twice anyway. |
| Kick |
A powerful kick attack that Yang launches to hit all enemies on the
screen. It's quite powerful, and best used against large groups of enemies. |
| Bear |
Yang braces himself to half any physical damage done by enemies. It's
pretty much the Monk version of casting protect on oneself. |
|
